My main issue is that you can't use youtube size aspect ratios, but I could probably just crop the animation in a way that makes it the ratio I want? Idk but it's nice being able to use it. I tried to use flipaclip in the past a few times and I hated the locked number of layers and the tiny brush selection. And there's also what you mentioned about it being difficult to draw in flipaclip
But ibis pain has a feature to add your own aspect ratio, doesn't it? I know it has custom aspect ratios for drawings, but idk if they added that for animations-
Flipaclip is still more accommodating for animation. Why? Number one, the free aspect ratios are too small to be used in any professional or serious way, which is highlighted by the fact that in free flipaclip, you still have many more options. There also aren't any audio options. The layer problem that you pointed out is important, because it makes layering much more tedious. I do believe that with ibis is much better than flipaclip when it comes to drawing, but if you plan on animating anything with much more efficient quality of life, flipaclip is for you. However, if you have the money at your disposal and plan on animating, you should just save up for a good drawing tablet and animation program. Some are very complex, but worth it for the final animation. Regardless, if you want an all in one animation app without further editing or serious pay, flipaclip is for you. If you want to just animate for fun, or want to pay money to get better aspect ratios, but dont have problems with extra out-of app editing, ibis paint is for you. Nothing is one-size fits all, and everyone has different preferences.
frfr like i cannot deal w ibis paint drawing or animating and its kind of a let down seeing so many people bashing flipaclip when its so much easier for some individuals
I love having to painstakingly go through each individual frame one by one to delete/hide the sketch layers because none of them are connected to each other
I completely agree, ibis doesn't have many features that you have to pay for because it is all free. In topsoil it feels more limited and ibis has featured that flipaclip doesn't have like duration instead of copying each frame. And all your work is amazing!
I prefer FlipaClip because -good project ratios for yt -audio option -nice layout for actual animating (like frame selector etc..) -better for making long animations I like the ibispaint tool but it just feels like it shouldn’t be an animation program.
Personally, i like both. I was first exposed to animating thanks to flipaclip(and managed to make a bunch of them), at the same time, ibispaint helps me draw abd sgade the characters exactly how i had in mind
yeah :) I was also using FlipaClip a lot when I way younger, I made animation memes 💀 thank goodness i never posted any, not that I have anything against people who still make them, but mine were HORRIFIC LOL
@@FruitySkeleton well mostly it would be lip syncing 🥲 but yeah I understand but still is annoying tnst you can't (rn im jjst using flipaclip then marking the sound hn going bsck to IBS lol)
don’t get discouraged, it took YEARS of practice to be able to do the swoops 😭 though one tip I will give, is to make the lines flow :) if you’re all tense while drawing the hair will look stiff, but if you’re calm and move your hand in swooping little waves without thinking too much, it looks nice and soft :)
it's good n all... the issue for me is, I'm used to animating music and I wish ibis had the music adding feature :, also it's kinda hard for me bcs of the canvas size it's not big enough for me wheeze
I think flipaclip is such a time eater when it comes to coloring, so it makes working on projects such a turn off for someone like me, who has trouble staying focused for extended periods of time so ibis having the feature to color directly on a second layer is really making me consider it ^^ sidenote, your art style is so nostalgic to me, it feels like an animated short on PBS Kids, super warm and welcoming, keep it up 💙
I would probably add a multi frame select, frame numbers, an audio feature, and a layer sync and unsync. But other than that, I really love the ibisPaint animation feature! I was so happy when I found out about it, since I didn't like Flipaclip, and have been using ibisPaint for so long.
oml u animate so good, and if u don't know the ibis paint animation can have some things for use whit premium, i think it's just one thing but it's the water mark that says " IbisPaint " you can remove it whit premium (i think)
I don't use Ibis Paint, mainly cuz I never figured it out and never felt accommodated to it, but gosh, does this look great!! I definitely see the hype around the animation feature now :D Plus, your animations/artstyle look so cute!! Great video!! Also, idk if its my brain playing games with me, but is the background music a lofi cover of "Let Down" by Radiohead? (I'm assuming you like Radiohead as well since at the beginning of the video there's a drawing of presumably you using a shirt with the band logo!!
Now i can try animating without feeling like I’m gonna explode. Ibis Paint is definitely not my favorite drawing software, but it’s the best one to animate already.
Yeah it’s pritty cool, there was just some issues with the layers and stuff, but it is nice to use for animation feature and the normal art feature is cool to use for animating (you just use the layers, save them, and a editing program to slap them together)
id honestly love to start animating with ibis since its easier for me to draw on there but i dont rlly spend money on anything so i kind of stopped animating for ages now, i still do little perspective tests or basic running animations but otherwise i dont rlly touch anything with money.
i was so excited for this feature since i’ve used ibis paint for over 5 years now, so i’m super used to it, and i could never get good at flipaclip. but the fact that there’s no audio feature makes it basically useless for my intentions, all i can really do in it is make animation loops i guess
On the video two years ago, when you were teaching us how to animate the eyes, how do you get the eyes on the character without it being white on the character?
if you make the color surrounding the eyes a vibrant color that isn’t in the eyes, (most commonly green) you can use chroma key to remove all green ( or whatever color you choose) from the video, making the background transparent! there are many videos on green screening, so if this doesn’t help i suggest you check one out!
FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS! Flipaclip just feels WEIRD to draw in! I've never heard anyone repeat this sentiment until now- something about flipaclip just feels clunky. Also the ridiculousness of paywalling so many things is so frustrating. I haven't tried out Ibis animation just because I can't find the feature but I'll definitely try again now.
Ppl are complaining bc you have to buys premium for the other ratrios meanwhile me who always animate with 1:1 ratrios in flipaclip so its fine for me in ibis lol, now i'm animate in ibis
I’m not an animator but i make all the movements on one thing this duplicated each thing then changed the movement of the characters(it duplicates the color aswell so I think that’s nice)
@@rt_with_s0ph13 oh its an animation program coming out for IOS made by the same people who made procreate (a drawing app for IOS) its a one time payment for about 19 CAD im pretty sure!! if u search it up theres a whole conference about it :D
on, that's strange! are you sure you're using the right size canvas? Some of the canvas sizes (and also custom canvas size) are premium features, so that might be it!
I liked the ibisPaint update BUT there are some things that i like more in FlipaClip, for example, you cannot export the animation as a gif and you can not add audio while animating, the archive is weird (in my case) and the longer you do it the more is going to take for it to charge before you can keep animating, also you can’t import videos in it. I like ibis paint but… FlipaClip will always be in my heart
Augh i wish animating on ibis was easier because theres literally clipping and different pens, sad parts u have to switch layers each frames + u need prime for more canvases + no audio + cant import videos
How come you get the animation update for free when I get it behind a paywall? Does it have to do with the device? Help pls I’m seeing everyone being able to animate on my main drawing program and I am so sad 😭
Nice things : good quality, more Tools, more colors (ig?), no watermark(idk), no ads (I think) Bad things : Can't have the other last drawing over the new page u had, no audio
Tbh, Ibis paint is way too confusing for me, I don't understand anything on it, so I'm going to stick to Flipaclip. I rarely even animate on Flipaclip and I use it as an editing app. I don't want to switch to an extremely confusing app that would probably take me years to learn how to use when I already have one that's perfectly fine for me.
I agree i did not like flipa clip i tried it once of twice and we even used it in art class and i never really liked it and it felt really weird and like i wasnt able to draw well or the app would not do what i wanted it to at all
When I went to check it out it was on premium, so the animation for ibis paint x technically isn't free Edit: I just checked and there's 2 shapes that aren't premium, so I was half-correct
