We've all been told the DJI Mini 4 Pro safety features affect precision landing. BUT is it really true?
Today we take Dwight (our DJI Mini 4 Pro) out for a test and see just how much affect the Mini 4 Pro safety features(bottom sensors specifically) really have. Will the drone find its homepoint or will it get lost and fly away? Stick around and find out what happens...

Great Test Kevin. If you would of done it slightly different and not used RTH and manually landed with the sensors disabled, it would of come down like a rocket. ITs designed to get you down quick like if you were on a boat etc. Keep safe man 👍

Great tests brother! , I think Dwight handled every situation today really well, his landings were spot on, even with the tape was decent! So what have we learnt today, that Dwight can bounce haha! 😂😂 keep them coming mate , look forward as always to your next one 👍

Lol yea Dwight is a beast. I’m really glad he didn’t bounce any harder than he did. I wasn’t expecting that even though I should have. The Mini 2 did the exact same thing when I did it with Jack last year. Lol. My memory sucks!

Haha yea he did come down fast brother, I remember Jack doing it last year too! I did it with mine once using the itchi app instead of dji fly , as you can turn it off on that, it nearly went through the floor 😂😂 we live and learn! Haha

Interesting results on sortie #2. RTH turns sensors ON but the button in settings is still OFF. Thanks Kevin!

Lol yea I guess it’s another one of their “safety features”. I remember GavinHR intentionally turned them off on a test flight one time and the RTH line was directly heading for a telephone pole. It maneuvered above the power pole with no problems and he proved the sensors had come back on. I actually forgot about him doing that until i came out to try this. Lol.

Hahaha. Thanks, Shaun. I’m surprised he didn’t damage sometime on that landing. I’m glad it was just on hard asphalt instead of soft grass. Lol

Lol. The trio corporation thing was hilarious man! You know,I got a couple comments a while back saying I was unsafe and would eventually cause someone to hurt themselves if they did what I do. They were concerned for other peoples safety. My feeling on that is if someone is dumb enough to try and emulate Kevin roberts, they deserve what they get. Hahahaha.

Another brave ("Roberts Stupidity!" test Kevin! I got Aerith up yesterday afternoon for only the second time this year! I didn't do any special auto flight features like waypoints or follow, just got her up to get reaquainted with the sticks and flying! (I still want some flip flops like those!! Lol!!)

Hahaha. Yea Roberts stupidity is at an all time high right now. Maybe it’s the impending retirement nerves kicking in? Lol Sometimes it’s good just to get out and fly around a little but without an agenda, eh? Keeps it fun. I have a few pairs of these flip flops left in the closet. Oh sweet! My biggest question so far on the Mini 4k, seeing how it’s not available on the DJI store is, do they offer the care/refresh for it? I think DJI may have killed off any remaining potential competitors with this little guy. I just recorded my 1.13.2 update video and mentioned the 4k. I NEED one, eh? Tell my wife please. Hahaha

Hey Kevin, great video… not sure if you noticed on the last test with the tape over the sensors and when you hit the RTH, Dwight attempted to turn on or check the sensors. The sensor icon on the top right momentarily went from red to white and back to red. Thanks for taking the risks on our behalf and I’m glad Dwight did suffer too much…😂 Jerry @jmprodquad

Another scary, but great test, Kevin. But why don't you try turning off the sensors, but do a manual landing, but preferably over grass, or something soft, and see if he bounces again? I have a feeling he will bounce, as he won't slow down before landing. It would also make hand-catching easier because he won't pull up as you hand goes under him.

Lol thanks again, Gary. You have a good point. I was telling Nobby I was glad I didn’t know what I was doing because I may have landed manually and crashed Dwight really hard on that road. You may be onto something too with the hand catching. That could be something to look into… hey speaking of hand catching, did you watch 51 Drones video on the new Mini 4k? He snatched that sucker out of the air as it was flying past him. That was cool! I’d lost a finger!

@@WeretheRoberts Nobby was right. I tried it over the lawn from a couple of feet up, and she bounced, just like Dwight. Then I sent her up several feet, and she dropped like a rocket, but stopped about 4-5 feet up and hovered when I let go of the stick. Then I was able to snatch her out of the air and flip her over without her pulling up away from my hand. But I wouldn't suggest that unless it's an emergency because your drone will crash hard into the ground.

@@WeretheRoberts Wow, I just watched that 51 Drones video where Rus, grabbed that thing as it went zooming by! I would have lost a finger too! Or at least end up with a bad gash, like I did when pushing my Mini 4 with prop guards away.

What do you think about the new DJI Mini 4K? They just are coming out with but you can only buy it through Amazon? I think it's basically the original Mini 2

I think the Mini 4k is pretty awesome! I watched a bunch of videos on it yesterday and was really impressed with the price. Most of them were comparing it to the Mini 2se but we all know the Mini 2 rules the roost here. Haha. I’m not sure why they won’t sell it at their DJI store so that’s kinda weird but it leads me to believe it may not be covered by the care / refresh thing. Any thoughts on that?

@@WeretheRoberts That's exactly what I was thinking and the reason I would not go with it. I loved it for what it was but without the care warranty it's not worth it to me. Especially with the name on it. I would think that they would do like they have with the other ones that have been coming out that are made by specta air or something like that. Idk for sure and I'm not sure how good of a warranty Amazon will offer. It's interesting though, that's for sure so I'll just keep em🤞🏻
