The Civil Society Forum of the New Development Bank (NDB), which is chaired by Oxfam South Africa, held a workshop in December 2022 where Reitumetse Nkoti Mosae-Mabula, Executive Director of Seinoli Legal Centre, gave a presentation on the negative impact of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP).
Mosea-Mabula says communities, especially women, who live around the areas where this project has been implemented have been displaced and face several challenges, including access to water and electricity and inadequate compensation for those who have been displaced from their land.
