I just wanna say this is one of the few lore-focused Star Wars channels (and comment sections) that doesn't feel like a wookiepedia circlejerk but an analysis that actually takes into account how the lore works in tandem with the filmmaking intent and themes of Andor. I've seen too many EU and Legends discussions veer off into 100% unlikely speculation territory because they forget the Star Wars content is fictional and made by real human beings trying to put real world ideas and feelings out there through a creative medium. Props to yall for being the sanest Star Wars fans.
@@andrewmaderer1989 I have, Stupendous Wave is a perfect example of what the poster is talking about. Their videos feel like they just read a paragraph from Wookiepedia instead of creating their own content.
@@ryanabate1981 I got a similar sense from Wave. Except for their What If videos, I ended up unsubscribing because it did just sound like they were just reading from the wiki, with no change in tone or cadence.
@@dalepalmitier7114 not only that but their what if videos are also ripped off from the old EU and Legends content. That guy from Wave doesn't do breakdowns, reviews, or anything on current content. Not because he preferences theories and past stuff, but because he gets his thoughts from already existing takes. If he was to rip off content on new media stuff like Andor, more people would notice. So instead he chooses to rip off more obscure content to avoid getting noticed. Plus I just hate his voice lol
Not gonna lie, your fangirling over this series finally pushed me to watch it. And, admittedly, it's not bad at all. Less of Disney molesting the corpse of the franchise and more of a fresh take of the stories that can be spun in the universe. Great video, as always, and I'm now invested in what's gonna happen next. In regards to your theory of what's coming next, I think you're spot on, and I appreciate your content as always. IMO, I prefer the long form videos because RU-vid has replaced cable or movies as my entertainment so it's nice to dedicate 20+ minutes to a thing I 100% am interested in. Keep up the great work!
@@theawesomeman9821 Many of us do ... But then again why would a member of the toxic soiboi star wars fandom fringe who like to ride their red-bladed lightsabers up the Hershey highway while two pumping themselves is pseudo -Sith ecstasy crying "hurt me Daddy Palp" to understand.
In this video we're talking about episodes 8-10 not episode 7 (next episode this Wednesday) which is going to be a different format. We explain here on our second channel Generation Tech Shorts >>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wzcBCFvhB_w.html
Andor has brought be back into starwars and especially in youtube, the content you guys are making of this show is really great and different than the other creators
The Major was scared and angry because no one saw this coming and it's their job to see threats coming. Plus Palpatine and Vader are NOT understanding bosses.
a singular rebel alliance concentrated entirely around one star system such as yavin or hoth is far less threatening than multiple rebel alliances spanning entire hyperspace lanes.
Man I noticed the algorithm doing this months ago, and then when shorts launched I literally was looking for a button to opt-out. I love listening/watching long-form content that I can play as I work or do chores. Shorts is a literal was of time and just leads to endless scrolling.
same, thankfully I watch enough true long form content (30-40 minutes at a minimum) that i get reccomended actual videos quite regularly. I get my fair share of "shorts" but the average 'short' video i see is 5-10 mins, not >1.
Look I feel like we beat up on the regular security old guy too much. His assessment of the situation that happened was spot on. In the court of law Andor could’ve gotten off with a self defense claim. Him choosing not to go after it was not only for stability but a retaining of resources and keeping everyone employed. Mr young inspector got multiple people killed and cost everyone their job. All because he couldn’t let something go because of ego and misplaced bravado. Old head said it best “they clearly harassed a man with dark features and chose the wrong person to annoy” he also acknowledged that the two were not men of any “honor” and that they were dirtbags. But he made the choice to give them a “hero” story send off of them dying while rushing to aid someone.
While the first one could be cleared on self defense the second one not so much. The guy was unarmed, on his knees and no longer a threat. Also, one might say that as the leader he sets the tone of the office, if he had held people to a higher standard maybe those guys wouldn't have tried to pull what they did. Or he could've fired them, with how well he guessed what happened he seems to have already known what they were like.
@@ClanWeirWolf but the court wouldnt see the situation. they only would find these two dead officers and andor could argue both attacked him at the same time and he killed them both in defense. the officer after his execution wont argue against it.
"Ego and Misplaced bravado" and let's be real here, just like Deedra, he's an ambitious little twat. That desire to be recognized and thus get a promotion was what ultimately drove him (and her) to go above and beyond what was required of him. You're right though, in each case the older, wiser men are trying to keep things from escalating, because they know the hammer will fall (hard) if anything gets the Empire's attention.
It's sort of cutely amusing that you guys would assume that Cassian Andor would get a fair trial at all in any court of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. There's no such thing as "Self Defense" when dealing with LEO's of the Imperial (or Corporate) Regime.
have ADD and still generally don't like them (haven't seen the Gen Tech shorts, but I would imagine they actually have substance). Much prefer longer content, but I'm an old fart and that's probably to do with a lot of it heh
Ramble on, I'll listen...watch....whatever. I can't say enough how much I love Andor (the show, not the man, okay the man too). The Empire has been mostly used as a two dimensional plot device for the "good guys" to overcome, and always do. The stormtroopers billed as an elite fighting force, were exceptional at killing Jawas and someone's aunt and uncle, but can't beat plot armor or teddy bears. Once stormtroopers are brought into Andor, I would immediately think of them as a threat because of the storytelling in this show. I love how they've used Imperial army, and the ISB in this series, I wish star wars made good use of the other branches of the Empire, like in the Solo movie. Rogue One has become my favorite Star Wars movie, and Andor has become my favorite Star Wars series.
I recently came across your channel and I instantly subscribed. I love the longer videos and the way you explain the story of the Star Wars universe. The way you do your videos, is how I imagine what it would be like to watch a current affairs news channel in that world. Keep doing what you’re doing, because you’re making excellent content.
@@scaryghost5721 that’s what I was thinking. At this point kallus is still pro empire what if we see him at some point? Or colonel yularen for that matter! But this one is doubtful
@@danzansandeev6033 Kallus is likely focused on stuff in Lothal, or maybe even dealing with the aftermath of the genocide of the Lasat. I think Rebels hasn't started as we know it yet. Yularen is likely focused on preventing any news of the Death Star being leaked, and is more active in the field.
I love how this show has gone from the least anticipated show for most star wars fans to the one that has garnered the most excitement this early in. I can't wait to watch the next episode to see where the show goes next.
I respect making a shorts channel and not dumping them onto the main channel. Other channels could do with learning from that. I sincerely hate shorts and wish I could hide the system outright.
In a way it's good that this series can be predicted by the breadcrumbs laid out once you find them, a good series has a logical progression that connects events in a meaningful way and being able to see something coming to a degree of accuracy (outside of it basically being told to you explicitly) means it has a hold on it's storytelling and isn't just a roller coaster ride trying to surprise you with various things and relying on novelty to sell it's excitement.
I hate 5 minute lore or news videos. I don't want to watch someone recite the fact, I want to watch someone autistically philosophizing about the facts.
I thought there were only 9 episodes, when you talked about the remaining 6 episodes after episode six me and my partner both started flipping out in the gym 😆
Andor is on a mission to humanize the imperials to some extent, like the imperial engineer who begged "to let the boy go" at gunpoint, to the ISB officer who cares about her underlings, and this is brilliant because it never gives you the chance to disassociate yourself and think these people are just monsters, No they are normal caring people like you and me who does horrible things, humans. The most scary thing about Nazi Germany was the fact that like almost all the perpetrators were just normal caring human beings.
This is a great video. I'm absolutely loving Andor--it's grown-up Star Wars, finally--and it's great to see serious people looking at it in serious ways. Thanks!
I’d guess Dedra would be very dominant and start everything off, and Syril would be desperate for any sort of acceptance and appreciation, would play into that
@@felicitys3621 Don't be so sure: Sometimes a normally-dominant person likes losing control and being sexually submissive. (with the right partner, obviously)
Yeah dude I really appreciate that you're gonna keep doing the long videos alongside the shorts. As a small youtube channel I totally understand the struggle
Great content as always. I figured we were going to see what turns Cassian into a die-hard Rebel, but didn't think of it going this way. I would like to see a bit of a shift, and have the show portray just how nasty the Empire really is. We only get snippets, and at that, we've really only ever been told how bad the Empire was. Hopefully now we get to see it.
If the intelligence officers are lined up behind the foot soldiers, they would be shooting those who retreat in the face and not the back of the head. Good episode.
I have to admit @Generation Tech, that I've been watching your channel all year and only just realized I wasn't subbed. I'm among that group of assholes that contribute to the always agitating "this percent watched but aren't subscribed" every single video without just subbing. 😅 But not anymore! Just finally subbed. Also, I love Andor. Rogue One was already my favorite Star Wars movie after the original trilogy, possibly more than the OG if I put away my nostalgia goggles for a moment, and Andor is absolutely not a disappointment. He wasn't my favorite character in Rogue One, not even in my top 5 from that movie, but the way they're fleshing him out is definitely something I wanted to see. I just hope that Andor ends in such a seamless and fantastic way as Rogue One did, leading directly into Andor's introduction in Rogue One like Rogue One did with A New Hope. I want to be impressed all over again. lol
AGREED!!! I love listening to you ramble. you go into INSANE detail and that's why I love your videos. unfortunately.... TikTok, IG Reels, FB Shorts, RU-vid shorts. All of these less than 3 min video formats have killed our collective attention span. It's really sad but DON'T STOP! Keep up the amazing work Allen! ❤
Thank you for keeping the content solid amidst RU-vid's foolishness. The changing of the algorithm just a step in their impending journey into the land of the forgotten.
With Dedra definitely being the masculine part of the two of them. That's how you write strong female characters without cringe, Disney. (Looking at you, Rey!)
You know what’s the ringer? I actually like her. They always make these strong female characters so unlikable. But while I recognise that she’s tough as nails and competent, she’s also thoughtful. Like she noticed that it’s late and wanted her subordinate to go home. That’s a mark of good leader for me that’s why that guy said that if she stays he will as well
@@danzansandeev6033 Maybe it's just me, but I don't want any representative of the Empire to be likable. However, I agree with your point that this character is well defined and is a competent leader.
@@brachiator1 well making them likeable makes them feel real. Like that engineer from episode 6. We know he’s doing wrong stuff under empire, but he tried to save a little boy’s life from terrorists. It’s not all black and white
@@danzansandeev6033 I don't need to like characters. I don't need to have characters to root for. It's more about understanding what a character wants and being curious to see if they get it. It is an interesting choice that "Andor" gets into the details of running an empire, and the motivations of its officers and staffs. But it's a balancing act to not make them too sympathetic.
Hey Allen, I like longer form videos too. Here is a thumbs up, and a comment to show the algorithm that you should be on all home lists. Keep up the great work
tbh Andor is much better than expected. they rightly took a lot of focus away from Andor himself and instead put the spotlight on the beginnings of the Rebellion ot restore the Republic. Which is a hugely interesting part of Star Wars and one we hardly got to see before.
Keep up the great work ... I found your channel recently and really like your input ... Thank you for your comprehensive approach to the material covered.
Yea! Allen please keep doing your videos there some of my favourite starwars videos on RU-vid, u dive in to topics and ideas others don't and always keep me coming back.😁
I’m not sure if anyone else has commented on this but just on the off chance you read these Allen, we love all you do for us nerds who don’t have the knowledge that you do. I would watch a whole video of ads to see more of you, don’t be beside doing ads for the sake of us because, I think I speak for most of us, you and your content are worth any ad reads you do and that’s hard thing to say about most creators on this platform. May the force be with you…always🙏
id rather see you have sponsors and make ads for sponsors and have a genuine shorts channel than make clickbait worthless shorts like so many youtubers have started doing
For every person destroyed by the Empire, there are 100 who were given lives of opportunity. For every Cinta there are 100 Dedras. I am an Imperial supporter in principal and of course understand the opposition to the Empire in practice. But we have priveleged information, that a Sith two person cult rules the Empire, so we declare it "evil". Most people in the Galaxy are doing what we all are doing; trying to attain security and then maybe happiness. Hail Emperor Palpatine!
I love Karn; there's just something about him that's just so lovably awkward. Like that smart but distant cousin you've got that won't let go of the fact you ate the last poptart. And Meero is terrifying for Andor; I absolutely love her character and even though she's an Imp, I can't help but root for her especially when it was her trying to go against Blevin (arrogant cockbite).
Honestly, having Major Partagaz as a boss is the dream. A boss that will defend you during a meeting against a coworker trying to tear you down to cover his ass? Hell yeah Partagaz, hell yeah
Palpatine pretty much made the same mistakes the Sith made before the Rule of Two was introduced, a bunch of backstabbing, incompetence and more. Palpatine obviously never learned his Sith history.
I actually disagree with your assessment on the major, Allen. It seems to me hes asking questions to get her to engage the problem. in other words hes being a stop gap cause he knows her worries are not going to be addressed by his superiors, so hes forcing her to find more information by challenging her viewpoint. Its what good teachers and bosses often do. Though I do think the patterns are a little bit too obvious for all of the ISB to not see it but that's for the sake of the audience I believe.
I have been pleasantly surprised by this series! There is a very similar tone to it to one of my favorite films "Where Eagles Dare"! A very Allistair McClaine vibe.
When Luthen was getting stressed about the mission in his shop he said something like that he hadn't been careful with Andor. That's setting up if Andor goes down he goes down - so if you're right that Andor gets trapped by the Empire on Ferix then Luthen HAS to step in to save him. Also Ep 1 set up that Andor owed a lot of his friends money on Ferix - I'm thinking he's the kind of guy that wants to go back to Ferix to pay his debts.
Where the hell is the clip of the slap from? 😂 As for the the next Arc, I am READYYY. Ever since the introduction of the ISB, especially Dedra Meero, I've been dying to see more of them.
I don't really understand why the rebellion and the empire are chasing Andor other than to find/hide the fact there is a rebellion. He has the hallmarks of being the right place at the wrong time. I don't feel like he's skilled and he doesn't really strike me yet as a person with a cause. Why did Rael look for Andor? That's the confusing part to me.
