I do consulting work around organizational effectiveness and development, as well as coaching. I've found that everyone needs someone to talk to and provide honest feedback. It's especially important for those in senior positions who may not receive truthful input from those around them due to their power.
For the rest of us, it's crucial to cultivate relationships with people who will give us honest feedback out of care and love. This helps us make informed decisions. For those interested in becoming coaches, I recommend finding a practice partner to gain experience and learn from mistakes. Seek out individuals willing to provide feedback and data so you can make informed choices.
It's essential to practice and learn, whether or not you're getting paid for it. If you can't find practice partners among friends and family, consider reaching out to coaching programs at local schools.
