In ACC I turned down weather to 10%. Want to hear rain, but the wind has an unnatural *woofwoof that gives me headache. But besides that its my to to GT4/TCX simulator. Btw u got news about upcoming GT2 DLC?

This full-electric GT3 DLC is very cool! On a more serious note, very insightfull video as always (and a killer thumbnail 😂)

Please don't encourage making youtube faces :P Other than that, I agree. These technical videos by Nils are really great!

Sure, i set my tire sound to 100 but never tried without the engine sound. Super interesting. I’ll have a couple of laps to check on tire sound only… 💪 thx for the insight tip, Nils! 👍

In my experience the biggest differences in ideal slip angles are varied mostly on load and incline/recline. It's the most prominent when driving on S1 in Suzuka, where you almost have to go over the essesses into Dunlop like it's a rally stage.

"use ALL your senses" I am looking forward to the next video where you will show use how to use the smelling and tasting sense to get faster XD

That's easy. Before you start a race, take a can of beer out of the refrigerator, and put it beside the monitor, so it's in your peripheral view. How much can you drink after the race it's up to you. If you don't finish the race, the beer goes back in the refrigerator.

Is there any data about the releationship between BRAKE power and brake %. Like, I have been thinking for a while, if 100% brake of every car is different. Some could mean like 150 bar, and others could be 110 bar. And the Brake power setting on the setup page makes this lower (from 150 bar at 100% to 110 bar at 80%). So you can go less into the ABS zone, or be more gentle on the pads. What I want to try, its if we are actually misjudging the relevance of brake power, because less, would mean you go less into the ABS zone, wich means you have more braking performance, its more difficult to microlock the tires. While 100% means braking with (example) 150 bar max pressure, wich will make you go more to the ABS zone, wich would reduce your braking performance, increase the chance of microlocks, more pad wear. Also, any opinion on the "Esports setups" that basically kicks out any physics of the car? (like super soft suspension on any circuit, a lot of negative toe etc).

abs usually only kicks in very late in the braking zone once the turn in starts, so we definitely don't have too much force during braking in the gt3s. however it might still affect the brake pad wear to use less. you can see the brake pad wear on popometer, too. yet that would only be relevant for longer races and of course you need to consider the lap time impact, too. As for esports esports: I don't use them. I don't think anyone not pro should use them most of the time. hence I made an entire Porsche data and setup pack with proper setups that are great to drive (and made a video about it). some cars might need that aggressive approach and I doubt they would irl, but it's not something you can reasonably discuss as there are way too many unknowns. one thought though: the values we get in the setup screen are already a reduction of what is generally possible. we only get reasonable springs to choose from etc. a damper on 0 doesn't mean off, on 49 doesn't mean it's a rock.

Is it possible to compare the Slip % to g-forces? My thinking is that this way its maybe possible to get an idea at which slip % the tyre model produces it's peak grip. With this information it would be possible to see how good the tyre is utilized in each corner. But while writing this I'm asking myself how much braking and acceleration plays into this and may varies the result

@SimracingPopometer 10 месяцев назад
there's a parking lot in the game that would allow for testing :D g-forces I think are available. we're just not displaying it currently

Thats a pretty standard graph i look at in motec: X-Axis is Oversteer (or Understeer in this case) and on the Y-Axis its Lateral G-Force. Basically you get a sharp rise from 0° Understeer (which makes sense as you re driving in a straight line) to maximum G-Force at around 4° Understeer Angle. After that the curve will drop ever so slightly. So There is an optimum Input Angle which you can hear in form of tyre noise like Nils perfectly showed here in his video when the scrubbing happens but not the scuealing. Based on this i've made a colored track graph to see in which corner im "overdoing" it with the steering
