I always hit better after watching Patrick video. It's so true about keeping your eye on the ball. I won't be a pro because of my age, but I have more fun when I hit better. Thank you, sir, for those wonderful videos.

00.49 "keep your eye on the ball"! The Opposite is true: Keep your eye at the MEETING POINT OF THE BALL!

no the issue was she turned her head too early when racket meeting the ball. you don't keep your eye at the meeting point, that would make you look like a robot

Hey great vid yet again but I see you have them do the dominant eye test thing but you don’t explain why knowing which eye is dominant helps you do better in tennis. (And I’m convinced it doesn’t) Because, for example, when shooting a gun knowing which eye is dominant is important because you close one of your eyes to aim the gun, but in tennis you don’t close one eye when hitting any stroke at all. Soooo could you explain the reasoning next time please I’m a bit confused on it!
@FiendishFuManchu
@FiendishFuManchu Год назад
Ostensibly you track the ball with your dominant eye, so if you’re a righty and right eye dominant, you want to hit in a more neutral/open stance because if it were closed stance the ball would be tracked in the inner peripheral/over the nose of your dominant eye, whereas more open the pupil of the dominant eye would be straight ahead. If you’re righty, LED, you can close your stance more on forehand but your backhand should be more neutral/open. The same applies in basketball when shooting a jumper, you should aim the ball in front of your dominant eye

@@FiendishFuManchu lovely explanation. Never thought of it like this before
@TheRabbitsaver
@TheRabbitsaver Год назад
@@FiendishFuManchu the stance would usually depend on the kind of ball that comes across the net and what kind of ball you wanna hit. Everything for a LED right handed player on the left side cannot be played with open or neutral stance. In my opinion this over complicates things. Can't change footwork depending on dominant eye.

Dominant eye is not as important than supression. If you supress your dominant eye if it is the right eye, your backhand will suffer a lot and vice verca. You can not do anything with eye dominance other that see a bit in front of hitting etc. But you can fix your depth vision by overcome supression with brock string etc. That is more important than eye dominance.

How to do better FH if you are not cross Eye dominant like ? ... Right hand and right eye dominant.

I am lefty, right eyed supposedly. As a child, I was taught that eyes switch off with their dominance. In this video, it looks like she is right eye dominant, but it does not look like she is changing anything to see out of that eye more on her forehand. I don't get it and this isn't helping me at this point.

I love her forehand, the sound of the ball is good. I try to imitate her forehand because I'm left handed too, but I can't.... how? hehe... Please teach me girl :).

She has an effortless, relaxed swing for sure. Very nice forehand! When learning or refreshing technique, I often watch videos of juniors and younger players, because they tend to move more freely and naturally. I often get these major or minor epiphanies afterwards, discovering unnecessary tension or contraints which can then more easily be resolved.

We are not closing one eye to play tennis. It’s just a myth that which eye dominant is important
@paulbenninghoff5320
@paulbenninghoff5320 Год назад
Well I agree with others that it wasn't explained in the video. In theory, I suppose, knowing that your dominant eye is, say, your right one, might suggest a relatively open stance on the forehand side (for a righty) and a more closed stance on the backhand side. Or maybe it just means you want to turn your head forward more on the forehand side. I don't know.
@tenniswithric
@tenniswithric Год назад
@@paulbenninghoff5320 You're still going to hit closed or open stance on both sides depending on how the incoming ball is coming at you, high ball? Short ball? Ball going wide? And it's not because your one eye is more dominant, your brain has already taken all these information when you strike the ball even without knowing which eye is dominant and what not
