I think Yelich's focus this season has been less on power and more on just hitting. His power numbers increased dramatically after the ASB of 2018, as he saw that he was playing more in ballparks that are HR-friendly, which is pretty much the entire NL Central, so he knew he could swing for more power and get more HR. Plus, he doesn't need to hit as many HR, as the Brewers have other hitters with pop (Adames, Contreras, Hoskins, Ortiz), so he doesn't need to hit so many HR, and the team's offense doesn't rely on the HR as it had in the last 2-3 years. The team's focus is more on speed, stealing bases and taking the extra base, and Yelich has joined that party as well with 21 steals, which is very close to his career high as a Brewer (30 SB).

Yelich was producing like an MVP, no coach is going to force a player who hits 40+ HRs in a season to “change their approach” to match the teams. If you’re hitting tanks, they let you.

It’s crazy to think just how GOOD he was in his marlins days. Never an OPS+ under 100 😳 And he’s only… 32

I was so surprised to see that his career WAR was so high. Crazy that he never dipped below the 100 ops+ mark even during his down years. Underrated career IMO

Even more so during his prime Brewer years. He had a stretch of 150 games during the 2018-19 seasons where he put up numbers VERY similar to Babe Ruth's 1921 season, which is widely considered the greatest offensive season of all time in MLB history.

Not prime yelich, more like vintage yelich. This is Miami yelich and that’s good enough for me

As a Brewers fan, 2019 will always be the biggest "What If?" season. We got close in 2018 and I swore we were going to win it in 2019.

Not anymore he is out with another back injury. It would be nice for the fans to see the x-rays. They want us to pay for repairs to American family field. I think The Brewers are doing better then MLB thought so they have to slow them down. Thanks Rob Manford!!

I think there’s one thing we all have to remember about Christian Yelich. He has only had a resurgence because major-league baseball outlawed the shift. If they did not load of shift, he would be the same hitter. He was for the past three years. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big Christian Yelich fan, but I am even a bigger, baseball fan and I think baseball players need to have more technique rather than just being able to hit the ball.
@nimblegames4395
@nimblegames4395 Месяц назад
It did play some role. However he’s still being killed by shifting, lots of balls up the middle have been outs. Plus this year he’s hitting his ground balls faster so they’re more likely to sneak through.

This aged poorly. Brewers should have unloaded him when he was healthy because it was not bound to last long.

Everybody blames his back injury, but the fact of the matter is, he just couldn’t beat the shift. Now, everybody says Christian Yelich’s back! Well, yes, he is back, but that’s because they outlaw the shift. That’s all I have to say.
@BigSnirt
@BigSnirt Месяц назад
That couldn’t be further from the truth. Yelich has been know to be a hitter that uses all parts of the field, and he excels at hitting the ball to the opposite field. Plus the current shift rules don’t fully ban the shift. Teams still play him to pull but cant just load all of their infielders on one half of the field.
@nimblegames4395
@nimblegames4395 Месяц назад
He’s been barreling up more balls this year too, so ground balls are more likely to become hits than when he was weakly grounding out in his down years
@unturnedantics2662

That’s just terrible timing from when he shift became popular and his injuries got bad
