As much as this series has evolved over the years, giving the players even more interactive, more "realistic" and life like worlds to experience, I personally think that GTAIII and GTA Vice City are the best games in the series. While I do like San Andreas and all the games moving forward, there is just something misding from the later games. Maps kept getting bigger and bigger and as console technology evolved, the series got closer to realism, giving a lot less room for the players imagination. I do understand that GTA had to grow and evolve into bigger things, but bigger ain't always better and less can often be more.
@TheBradRules
@TheBradRules 18 дней назад
@rollingstart_90s That's very true. When playing certain missions, I took certain liberties to make things easier like parking vechicles to block enemies from fleeing like when you have to throw gernades through the window in that Ray mission, you can block your target from fleeing by strategically blocking the exit route with vehicles. It's really cool to be given the opportunity to think outside the box.

Even just stopping gameplay and chilling listening to Chatterbox radio made this world feel real compared to later games.

@dorkbrandon4422 I agree, it's entertainment within itself. The fact that there's so much to distract you from the main game says something about how layered the game is with things to do.

I remembered when I was 6-9 years old during the PS1 and PS2 eras; my dad used to always bring those brownish burnt CD's that were actually PS1 and PS2 games with just the game titles hand written on them and no official gameboxes but just in a regular small plastic CD cases from a guy at his job that would sell them and every Saturday morning, I would be excited to wake up and run to the kitchen table to see if my dad bought a new game for me to play. Then 1 Saturday morning, I saw "Grand Theft Auto 3" and wondered what that meant at 8 years old in 2001. So I popped it into my PS2 and was truly amazed by it. I was so hooked that I didn't turn off my PS2 the whole day. And the funniest part was that I never completed the first mission because I was just running around, stealing cars, shooting and exploring the city 🤣 Then I went back to school and told my best friend about it and he said that I'm supposed to complete the first mission 😂 But man, I wish I could relive that 1st moment again and again. GTA 3 will always have a place in my heart because of the happy and good memories.
@TheBradRules
@TheBradRules 16 дней назад
@@B_Man_13 That's what's so great about this game. The missions become secondary because everything else takes over and you just want to see and explore everything. I always loved this game for its dark vibe, all the other gta games felt like they were more on the comedic side. You just watch the intro of this game with that mysterious music playing in the background, blowing up the bridge and then you are stuck on one side of the island, man!, you're hooked. And the fact that Claude doesn't speak in this game makes it even more intriguing for some odd reason. Great storyline, great characters, great soundtracks, love this game. P.S. good video brad.

The trails, the gritty local, the really cool looking vehicles and the extremely loud guns. What's really eerie is that this game was released 5 weeks after 9/11 ( not saying theres a connection). The atmosphere fit the time really well after the tragic event in NYC and it was a bittersweet feeling at 13 years old. Why? Cool that I played such a exciting game, but the events of 9/11 was still ingrained in our minds. GTA 3 marks the unique spot in history of the series where it was already realistic looking but still had a lot of weird things from original 2D games. I remember when the 3d era of GTA was in its peak (the newest being San Andreas) then there was the feeling of 80's gta being vice city and 90's gta being San Andreas and gta 3 being the contemporary representative, now 20 years later its a sort of time capsule for how life used to be in the late 90's early 2000's with the payphones and pager, the vehicle selection and the radio being very engraved in that era. Although the map was small it really gave that "big city" vibe to it and i did like how it wasn't just a NYC copy but it tried to more so copy the feeling of being in NYC in early 2000's. You earned a sub! When it comes to GTA 3 - a lot of the inspiration, musically and visually, comes from hauntology. This "Fin de siècle" (end of cycle) really affected the cultural artistic consciousness. Rockstar got a lot of its inspiration from DnB, Trance, Trip Hop - and the PS1/2 aesthetics from games like Silent Hill or GTA which used Industrial motifs came from David Lynch films. If you want the aural equivelant of Grand Theft Auto 3, check Tricky's albums, particularly Maxinquaye and Pre-Millenium Tension. With this inspiration and ennui, we find this Post-Millenium World that failed to be a utopian future, and became a corporate dystopian hellhole. Grand Theft Auto 3 is a world where the future wasn't as cracked up as it used to be, and we are playing as a criminal just bathing in the chaos of a world that caused this. Pollution in the waters, products that kill consumers, Industrial areas next to suburban residential areas? Regardless if Claude kills Catalina, who has most of the city hooked on SPANK, the institutional issues that allowed this Cyberpunk hellhole to come to fruition still remain.

I want Rockstar to remake GTA 4 and 5 (and 6 if this happens far enough in the future) on a future console generation Not remaster, REMAKE, make the maps bigger (GTA 4 could have areas/states outside of LC) and more detailed and more buildings can be entered in free roam Then over the next few years Remake GTA 3, VC, and SA on the same maps, but remake the stories and missions to make sense within the new geography (Vice City could take place all across Leonida but is centered mostly around VC) so you can hop between GTA 3 and GTA 4, San Andreas and 5, etc Then they could go further, there was a GTA London way back in the day wasn’t there? Make a new story in London and then have a DLC that adapts whatever decent story you can swab from that game, never played it XD
