Gather 'round, and let's get gaming! As a 16-year RU-vid veteran I have a massive amount of content and I'm still kickin'! I think you'll love my comedic, informative style as we analyze, review and discuss games new and old!
I just want to add that i'm glad this isn't another AI channel, it's always good when someone puts their actual personality into their content which is becoming less common these days.
Whats interesting about gta 3 is that the manual of the physical copy of the game tells you that liberty city is the worst state in America, i like that its just a 4th wall break but they weren't joking.
I loved gta 3. Never finished it because i never owned it. used to play at my cousins, When i was a kid. Sidenote : Are you ever gonna review wwe. Or you completely done with that ? Been watching since 2012 or 2013. Havent watched a video since you stopped making wwe reviews. I liked hearing breakdowns of the shows, Since i wasnt watching wwe at that time. It saved me from witnessing awful "wrasslin". I restarted watching wwe in late 2022. I think it has improved. And I would love to hear your take on the new product. The paul levesque era. I will for sure sub. Cant wait to check out more videos.
I compare Liberty City GTA III to 70's and 80's New York more specifically how dirty it is and the red light district reminds me of the movie Story of A Junkie honestly speaking GTA III nailed that dirty city feel better than any other GTA afterwards if it was a real place I pretty certain everyone who lives there would need constant tetanus shots and regularly get hepatitis checks Ps if swimming was actually a thing in this game I wouldn't want to go into the water
If I could live in any video game world I would love to live in GTA III's Liberty City. I think I'd like to live in Shoreside Vale, it would be cool to visit Stauton Island to do my shopping, and to visit Portland to go for walks and take in the atmos.
@RPKGameVids They definitely feel livable and would be interesting to visit in real life. I'd be nervous Claude would run me down with a Banshee though lol
I'm nervous for VI without Lazlow running much of the radio designing. He's a reason for a lot of my musical and humor taste! Never even realized it till I got older but they always squeezed in lots of comedians and radio personalities at the time to do a lot of the jingles, commercials, etc
@@ssssssssssssssssss50 noo. That was a collaborative effort from everyone involved. There's entire groups of Rockstar workers that handle the radios like licensing the music and I imagine a lot of the "important" people at Rockstar get to decide what songs are in. He was basically the head leader of the radio along with others like DJ Pooh that used their industry connections to make sure the soundtrack is always on point. I just heard a podcast with Lazlow where he did describe writing a lot of the commercials and such in a lot of Rockstar's biggest games

Simple and efficient at being video game, and i love it. Today, not that i hate that, i feel that there is just too much of everything in video games, from side activities, score systems, exploration being locked behind more missions, internet/being online and multiplayer being needed for some parts of game etc. GTA III during all these years stayed in that early 2000s cold/noir timeline which somehow, i have no idea how to describe this, felt enjoyable, warm and familiar. Like i knew that era personally, even tho i was just a kid who played a video game. Could be nostalgia, i truly cant explain it. Never forget.
I love this game so much and it comes down to the vibe and nostalgia. I like your commentary, very relaxing with the music aswell. This game is so interesting.
This brought back a lot of memories. I just went back and listened to that 'Ragnarok Canyon' theme from the snes, that's one of the greatest themes of all time. My brother and I used to play that 'battletoads and double dragon' game a lot, and what a great crossover that was. P.s. david wise is a legend
@90sDude. David Wise is without a doubt one of my favorite video game composers of all time, especially with his moodier tracks. This guy knows how to create an atmosphere and a vibe that you can feel.
@cringeposting435 I'm actually really amazed how many people share this view. I always thought most people had forgotten about GTA 3, almost as if Vice City and San Andres had completely erased it from most people's memories.
Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure actually has 3 licensed songs but all of them are exclusive to the japanese version The three songs are: Makafushigi Adventure Mezaze Tenkaichi Romantic Ageru Yo "Makafushigi Adventure" and "Romantic Ageru Yo" were replaced by original songs while "Mezaze Tenkaichi" was completely removed, they didn't even replace it
@Mazwithnoketchup Yeah I actually saw them when downloading the ost for the background music lol I don't understand why considering the anime dub opening theme has the same melody but just with English lyrics.
@MegaManFan1987 I know and it's a shame too. I think this series deserves more. They created a very unique and interesting universe. I really loved the 2020 game depiction of them as well. There was some really great voice acting in those cutscenes. I wouldn't mind seeing that adapted into a full-fledged series.
good to know we all have the same shared experience of trying to walk into the back of the school bus props i also remember figuring out that i couldnt get to the banshee at the dealership because there was glass that glass was impossible to notice on ps2 with the tv across the room, and i remember thinking it was an invisible wall before someone else told me i could punch it
@@badoof7803 I really do love the aesthetic of the school buses and the unusual sight of there being so many of them. I think they're definitely reused assests because children were originally planned.
@TimSlee1 You're still doing it, and that's hard enough. I'm doing the same, and I'm actually at the Espresso 2 Go mission now, and damn it's tough. I found a good strategy to reveal all the stands in Stauton, then in Portland, and then start destroying them there to start the timer. It's still hard because I always run out of time, leaving the last one near the airport last. The time limit is so tight.
@@TheBradRules That's a tough one because you'll need to find a new car after the one you're driving blows up and that eats into the time more than anything not to mention how much it sucks to not have a proper map. But oh boy, the next mission S.A.M. will have you pulling your hair out, so good luck with that.
I didn't think i'd play the whole game but I ended up really enjoying the radio stations and atmosphere of the city. I started playing it a few days ago and finished it just today for the first time.
I remember when the 3d era of GTA was in its peak (the newest being San Andreas) then there was the feeling of 80's gta being vice city and 90's gta being San Andreas and gta 3 being the contemporary representative, now 20 years later its a sort of time capsule for how life used to be in the late 90's early 2000's with the payphones and pager, the vehicle selection and the radio being very engraved in that era. Although the map was small it really gave that "big city" vibe to it and i did like how it wasn't just a NYC copy but it tried to more so copy the feeling of being in NYC in early 2000's. Also the gloomy weather and atmosphere gave it a feeling no other GTA had
@@TheBradRules Exactly, also the best way I can describe the DE version is that it looks like a painting or a comic book strip. I noticed that when standing in front of the first safehouse in the game and all the background looked like it was drawn and colored in which is Kool but not for this game.
@@bostonkennedy2270 The Sopranos is such an amazing show, I'm not surprised by the influence, especially when it comes to a game that mixes dark humor and crime.
@@TheBradRules Awesome! Can't wait for the review! I see that the game was released on PS2, so you could probably emulate it if the PC version gives you trouble trying to run it.
@viewtifulvash6068 yeah I'll try try for the PC version for the better graphics. I've seen you can actually free foam a bit in the game despite the focus on vehicle stunts, so I'm very interested.
I remember when i first played this in 2003 it was such a vibe and to this day i think about those vibes and playing it for hours. I might go as far to say it changed my perspective on gaming
It's definitely not your ordinary type of game and atmosphere, especially for the time. It really set a standard, and GTA as a series changed the industry, and this one made it all happen.
@@machinehl They really did. They made the game look worse with better technology available. It's pretty amazing how badly they butchered it. It's a testament to how this game looks so good despite supposedly having "outdated" graphics.
Got this and max payne together for our PC back in 2002, man what a treat that was and then few months later also got Mafia . Glad I skipped the ps2 version of Mafia that looked like dog crap.
GTA 3 marks the unique spot in history of the series where it was already realistic looking but still had a lot of weird things from original 2D games. With the subdued color pallet and semi-responsive world, it becomes a bit of a liminal space in a good way, and it makes this game so unlike any other in the series.
@FlymanMS I think it hits in all the right ways, and I do like the realism mixed with the surrealism, so it's not hyper realistic to the point where it's too much. It's a really appealing balance of the two.
You earned a sub! When it comes to GTA 3 - a lot of the inspiration, musically and visually, comes from hauntology. This "Fin de siècle" (end of cycle) really affected the cultural artistic consciousness. Rockstar got a lot of its inspiration from DnB, Trance, Trip Hop - and the PS1/2 aesthetics from games like Silent Hill or GTA which used Industrial motifs came from David Lynch films. If you want the aural equivelant of Grand Theft Auto 3, check Tricky's albums, particularly Maxinquaye and Pre-Millenium Tension. With this inspiration and ennui, we find this Post-Millenium World that failed to be a utopian future, and became a corporate dystopian hellhole. Grand Theft Auto 3 is a world where the future wasn't as cracked up as it used to be, and we are playing as a criminal just bathing in the chaos of a world that caused this. Pollution in the waters, products that kill consumers, Industrial areas next to suburban residential areas? Regardless if Claude kills Catalina, who has most of the city hooked on SPANK, the institutional issues that allowed this Cyberpunk hellhole to come to fruition still remain.
@jonathandaleo I love this analysis. Truly a great, infomed comment. I think I should make a video addressing the music. It seems like something people may enjoy, and I'll enjoy making it.
You know what I feel like when sitting listening to ambient sounds then the look of most places is I am going to be jumped or trip and fall on a used condom oddly enough GTA III made a great dirty city that reminds me more of New York between the 70's and late 80's more than NYC in 90's or 2000's
5:40, it's funny to hear you talk about how "fans linking these aspects of the game together" while bleating out disproven nonsense in the comments about Darkel. Self-awareness: -1.
@tim3172 What are you saying exactly? The video is about mysteries and atmospheres. Darkel was in the game and that isn't a rumor. There is a lot of interesting evidence to suggest Rockstar isn't being 100% forthcoming such as the clipped wings on the dodo and the school buses.
Beating the main missions on GTA 3's trilogy version for me was quite an enjoyable challenge, because the game is less punishing. But the OG version does have that unique feel to it. Also GTA LCS is the most fun for just going on rampages, because the character doesn't die so easily
Oh yeah definitely janky, especially during shooting and some of the vehicles handly so poorly. I think it really says something that it can overcome its own flaws and still be so amazing.
