100% agree about the films going back to basics. We need that slightly slow burn, authentically scary horror element back. That build up plus more terrifying dino designs and the Jurassic universe is resurrected.
@@cemilhan725 Believe me, making a real dinosaur scary is not only having scary design, in this universe yeah you can make any design thanks to inconclusive DNAs and I love it but just check out upcoming horror game Goner, for example many people think a t-rex with lips is not scary (though I'm with those scientists who are against it) but this game has a fucking scary accurate lipped t-rex and it's really awesome.
@@cemilhan725i'm waiting for a dinosaur to talk eventually. and also did own got hit by veloci raptor dna ? and got control by indominus rex in the leg version? and along with his pack?
I still think it's possible for scary predators again, given the right creative conditions. The way the Giga was handled was disappointing overall, but even smaller theropods can be terrifying. Size isn't everything, as the lions in The Ghost and the Darkness are smaller than JP's Velociraptors. But I agree, the Malusaurus as a made up in-universe dinosaur is pretty confusing, and being a hybrid makes more sense.
The sad part is that the giga is supposed to be the villain or "joker" of that movie But, it did nothing wrong to be a villain Plus hybrids just have this flavour that a normal dinosaurs don't have
@@thatguysanimation That was one of the most ill-concieved attempts to drum up hype about a movie animal or monster ever. It was pretty much the most unassuming, non-monstrous giant theropod in the series but it lacked bite.
Ngl Malusaurus sounds kinda dumb for an intimidating predator, after knowing that "malu" lit means shy in my language. Not so tuff looking huh shy lizard?
The Indominus Rex has always been one of my favorite hybrids from the Jurassic franchise, ever since the 2015 movie! I hope we see it again in future Jurassic movies! Thank you so much for this video, Klayton! Loved it! Keep up the great work!
Need more hybrids in universe. Perhaps an illegal cloning facility in S. Korea or China could create monsters for an Asian Park. Could see some new species from the East. Perhaps the park become successful as a nature preserve. 🤔
@@hackman669 I remember during my fanfic writing days I wrote a pretty cool series about Jurassic World (most my fanfics were cringe in retrospect), but this one was awesome and I look back on it like "damn I was on to something". One of my VERY few projects that aged great and doesn't make me want to die of cringe. I called it Jurassic Park: Facility 9 It was a series about an abandoned facility of InGen after the downfall of their park. One of the facilities were kept secret from Hammond and was funded in secret through money funneled from InGen. When InGen went down the facility wasn't shut down properly because no one knew about it. The things happening there were very illegal so even the few researchers who worked there never brought it up. The property containing "Facility 9" was eventually auctioned off during the liquidation of InGen's assets, a new corporation had unknowingly bought this property without knowing the secrets it contained. This facility was where abomination's and failed clones were sent for study, and where hybrid research was conducted (this was prior to Jurassic World so I had good foresight). Instead of euthanizing "failed" dinosaurs, some researchers sent them to Facility 9 for further research. The dinosaurs seemed healthy by Jurassic Park standards as technically ALL dinosaurs are failed clones. It's just some did not match what we'd assume, so they were tossed away. The company that purchased the large property (tens of thousands of acres) did biome modification research, the property was very remote and had above average terrain variation vs most locations so it was perfect for research purposes. Small research teams/squads were placed on the property with limited supplies and equipment to setup makeshift labs. Unknowingly to them, in the center of the property where their communications station was set up Facility 9 was hidden nearby built in to the terrain to semi-camouflage the lab. The facility was falling apart with no maintenance or power for months now, and many of the dinosaurs had escaped and taken over many parts of the property. In the start of the series after they arrive, only a few days in, the small team in the communications hub are killed by dinosaurs and the few survivors run out into the wild to hopefully find one of the stations. The series basically follows the stories of the different squads trying to survive in their own section of the land. Cool dinosaurs with realistic twists and abilities are introduced as needed, one of which is Spinosaurus who could camouflage (CALLED IT!), it was based off of a raptor in the books that actually changed colors which was never shown in the movies. Another is a group of raptors with bat-like sonar screeches and abilities, they hunt with echo location and are terrifying because you can hear them from miles away. As soon as you hear them you know they are likely within range to hunt you since they have great tracking skills. So hearing them in the far distance builds hours of dread because you know it's only a matter of time before they catch you. The goal of many of the characters is to survive long enough for the banks or investment groups to realize something has gone wrong astray since they aren't receiving updates regarding their expensive research. This will take an unknown amount of time to our protagonists, so they don't know if they will be their for days, weeks, or even months. They don't even know if rescue is possible since no one knows the dangers of the land they are now stuck in. Jurassic World went on to actually parallel think some of my ideas, which was pretty cool. Though if you through spaghetti at a wall eventually some stick, but still neat.
I literally watch Jurassic World over and over becuz of this. Believe me, the T-Rexes in the original movies were great but, Indominus, along with its badass name, is also a badass dinosaur. I will never get tired of watching Jurassic World 1. Im obsessed with big, badass monsters in movies. Godzilla, King Kong (although he wasn’t a monster) and of course Smaug in the live action Hobbit movies. I always just get a “man i kinda wish those gigantic species were real” type of vibe lmao
5:02 that’s the best design imo. I love the idea of InGen creating a sickly, unstable creature, and deciding to ignore any red flags that come up during its’ development because of all the time and money they sank into creating it. It probably wouldn’t have sold as many toys, but it looks like a great dino antagonist for a more horror-based story.
I really think Jurassic World was great and the Indominus Rex is one of the my favorite creature. Like all canon hybrids, they have unique design and chilling characters. Fallen Kingdom pushed the horror with the Indoraptor and tried to do something darker like what the Lost World did, yet I feel like the script could have been better. Dominion however... is just missed potential.
Agreed. Instead of making the Giga a simple creature that was simply acting out of instinct, they could’ve made it like a territory conqueror. An apex dinosaur that kills all of those who defies its rule.
Okay, the "spinoraptor" designs are actually pretty brilliant. I can only imagine that a cross between the spinosaur and a JP-style raptor would be _terrifying,_ particularly if it kept the raptor-level intellect, speed, and agility, but had scaled it up thanks to the spinosaur DNA in the mix. Also, the malusaur has one hell of a design, particularly the version with the red skin...makes me think of Old World vultures, like an Egyptian vulture or a Lammergeier (bearded vulture).
That would've been a nice touch to add a dorsal fin to the Indominus. It would answer the question of what happened to the Spino after JP3. In fact, the JP3 Chaos Theory mission in JWE2 attempts to answer just that. The Spino dies by being attacked by a pack of Raptors, and the body is sent off to Isla Nublar for the Indominus project.
i feel like the indoms aggressiveness could also be explained by the spino dna, even if they dont have a dorsal fin. Spino was one mean mf, even before sorna was abandoned iirc
The Spino lived on Isla Sorna for the years to come until Mantah Corp soldiers arrived capturing it, according to the interview. It put up one heck of a fight referencing the Military deleted scene from Jurassic Park 3.
@@Unbearable_Truth from what i've heard and saw, the military scene is just a fanmade and it was never a part of the original script. But about spino being killed by group of raptors, that was in the original script but that idea was scrapped. And then if you watch CC, actually it wasnt that hard to capture the spino. In one scene, you can see that spino can be paralyzed easily after Darius throws a canister containing sleeping gas at spino and spino immediately falls asleep after that.
@@nerddeooohonestly I'ma be honest when it comes to reptilian designs I'm not usually the one to get scared by them I couldn't find it scary unless it I was in the move it was just standing there in front of my stuff still staring at me intensely the only way I could find it scary besides that it's either cool or ugly as hell
Awesome video as always Klayton! Reminds me of the video you made with the unused Indoraptor designs! Seeing the concepts for the Indominus was great, I’m glad they didn’t make her like a T.Rex on steroids, but I wish we were able to make out more of what it was made of but I do love the final design! :)
Absolutely agree. One of the things that made the og Jurassic Park so terrifying was the whole "Look we tried to create actual dinosaurs, but what we got are monsters that are nowhere near the real deal". In a way that's horrifying. What I personally would also love to see is something that kinda shoots at the concept of the original The Lost World novel, with strange creatures turning up and there being a race to find the island. Followed by whatever they can come up with for the time spent there.
Great video of the Indominus Rex being Almost way too scarier in Jurassic World from 2015 and even if was almost scarier than I’ve would’ve been more terrified of how monstrous the Indominus really is. The Indominus Rex was a very intimidating and terrifying dinosaur hybrids in the Jurassic Franchise in my opinion on point with the Indoraptor from Fallen Kingdom. Great points you’ve made about the Indominus and it’s concept arts being very intimidating and deadly and great analysis on the video. Great work Klayton and as always, Take It Easy and Life Finds A Way.
NICE! I did see some of the original concept art of the Indominus Rex a few years ago. It's also available in Jurassic World: The Complete Visual History.
Hey Klayton, I was wondering if you wanted to make a video going over the entire history of the Jurassic park ride potentially if you haven’t done it already.
If they are going to add a normal preh-historic animal, I think those must be scientifically accurate. If, they are going to add a hybrid, let the monstrous features shine! You can add everything to a hybrid, unorganized teeth, spikes, pronated hands, everything. It is a testing ground.
I absolutely love the Indominus Rex. Especially how they show how curious she was about her surroundings. She was beautiful, terrifying and ruthless. The Indoraptor was just plain scary and I enjoyed that but the storyline was lacking. I had to rewatch Dominion multiple times to appreciate any of it because the Giga was just plain boring. It was all about the clone girl and big bugs. Buuuuuuut I do wish they'd incorporate more of the unused dinos because they look so amazing.
I personally loved the indominus Rex design, It didn't go too far for a hybrid in terms of design. My only problem with the animal was that it was a bit too smart but that's a minor nitpick.
The intelligence made sense to me... until it removed its implant. "It remembered when they put it in" is NOT a good explanation. Making a plan to hide and escape its enclosure? That seems fair. Ambushing folks? Sure! That's good. But removing its own implant was just a step too far. I don't buy it.
Off topic thing i guess, but i hope the Tylosaurus from Jurassic Park: The Game would be in a future Movie. Edit: Maybe there can be a fight scene between it and the Mosasaurus.
I'd love to see a collaberation of material from that game, the movies, and camp cretaceous. Even got a Tarbosaurus in the "interactive special" episode of CC.
I personally would love to see the Malusaurus in a future Jurassic project . Out of all the scrapped I.rex designs i love the Malusaurus the best. It's design is incredible and it has a nice color scheme .

Love ur vids Especially your Jurassic world and jurassic park vids and it really brings me back to whenever they first came out I love your Videos to keep it up
05:00 I’m seeing some _Oviraptor_ in its face & head; almost seems like a beak but with teeth. The body is practically _Dinocheirus_ (which would’ve been cool in a JP/JW film), but mixed with… _Utahraptor_ or _Therizinosaurus_ or something.
I think you were spot on when it comes to explaining why the movies aren’t as good anymore. Instead of being simple and scary they see the other huge Hollywood movies with big name actors and think they have to do that instead of just being the Jurassic park we know and love
“Beast from 2000 fathoms” used the “this is a real animal whose fossils were recently classified” trope to explain the monster, and while I love that classic, it somehow cheapens the actual creature. I’m glad they didn’t go with that creative path.
I kind of wish we got a non-canon spin-off with the hybrids (They'd be free to do a lot without worrying about ruining the canon of the franchise). The first Jurassic World hinted of something big involving hybrids and the military, and considering how Jurassic World 2 was gonna be the last of the hybrids, it should've went all out on them instead of a single hybrid that was just a I.Rex, but smaller.
Yeah the Indom is one of my favorite JP villains. That crested design is dope and I really like it. Would be cool if Mattel made these concept Dinos into figures. That be really cool. Great video as always my dude
i'd kind of love seeing these in a sort of story or series of stories where these were the ""failed" experiments between the scorious rex and the indoraptor as they worked to refine the process
You know what you're talking about. I agree with every single thing you said here! I wouldn't change a thing. Just wanted to say that and to support the "back to basics" theory and a BIG thumbs up fr suggesting The Lost World for inspiration! There is something grey, rain, amazonian, raw and primal about that movie and plot. Love you buddy!
The indominous rex was a scary hybrid I remember when I saw the trailer for the first Jurassic World movie even though they only show her claws in the trailer I have always liked the horror esque jurassic Park theme they used in the trailer seeing all these unused concepts for the I-rex but I liked how the indominous turned out in the film.
Honestly they screwed up on that, one was spoiling it before the movie came out and i know its a new age leaks are easier but they didn't even try to hide it, second lazy design, nade me think of an allosaurus if anything
I would love to see more Jurassic World movies!! but I do agree with you Klayton that they should go back to basics like in the first Jurassic Park movie. they should also bring back some more scary horror elements like when Ellie went looking for Ray in that corridor to turn the power back on and found his dismembered arm that the raptors tore off.
4:04 This is why I despise the Dominion prologue: it passes off all these dinosaurs as having lived together, and that they looked like JW designs, which they didn't.
I really liked the indominus Rex, but the mouth was always too thin in my eyes. The lower jaw was flat and almost spooned, when it really needed to be closer to a Tyranosaur jaw or even the Malusaurus jaw to peoperly fit the profile of the skull.
The person who directed the "No One Will Save You" movie if they can do that for Alien + horro depiction imagine what they could do for dinosaur + horror depiction. This would be a near impossibility but one can only hope.
Yeah I tend to enjoy each movie even if I'm a book fan, first and foremost. I see too many fans of one movie or another who will say "X movie is shit, Y movie did A so much better" and I'm just like "Fans of the Z movie say the same shit about your movie!" People really can't just accept that media and fiction is for fun.
I really love the Scorpios Rex too, and I feel like it’s actually realistic. I feel all the hybrids made are the only hybrids that should be kept. I feel like making a perfect hybrid that is so beautiful but has an aspect that makes you feel uneasy isn’t a easy task, I feel the scorpios rex being the first hybrid as a test that failed is really interesting and good storyline to show. And then the Indoraptor got a bad wrap because it was made before Camp Cretaceous and we were a bit confused why they decided to bring back a hybrid and basically said it was being overused, but knowing the indoraptor was Dr Wu’s way to make a successful scorpios rex makes so much more sense and is actually a good plot line to follow
They should make a movie based off of Trespasser, they just have to understand that the main draw of this franchise is the isolation and fear of being completely outmatched by something you were never meant to exist with. It kinda baffles me that they are so out of touch with the core concepts. Hell they could base a movie off of the telltale games, the plot is already made in some of these cases 😂 there’s so much they could pull from but in their attempt to play it safe they sabotage themselves more and more
I remember being so excited after seeing 2015 Jurassic World cause I thought the franchise was finally gonna go full tilt into the genetic abominations horror stuff with Dr. Wu playing the mad scientist but nope, we ended with big locusts lol. You can get so creative and wild with the genetics stuff it’s really too bad that we didn’t get very much of it.
id like a live action seson of just the dark side of jurassic park like maybe 16 episodes about genetics and dinosaurs thac could be instead of the ones that were shown for egsample the troodons form jurassic park the game can get a episode same with ultimasaurus and maybe like peple said that the jurassic (world) is ended and a new series of movies can be made with the horror of dinosaurs in the real world like composgathus eating chilidren like in the novel this is my idea and id be realy fitting because theres a new horror jurassic park game comming soon so it can ceap this theme for maybe 3 sesons and 3 movies
The idea that some scientist went against company policy and didn't pure-ify the dna extracted and just put in in an embryo to make random frankinstien dinosuar monster sounds like a it would be a really cool movie
well to be honest, the final design of indominus rex is the best! her, being white, with all those single spine-hair on its back, the wide range of her mouth, and eye color. damn! she’s perfect! when she came out on cinemas in 2015, i was really amazed with how scary her look was.
If you've read my comments on your videos where I explained my 3rd installment in Paleo-Prime, you would know that my Spinotitan is having a more JP3 Spinosaurus esthetic but with a lot more killer hatred towards everything around. Maybe that can be implemented into a future Jurassic movie, series installment
I really wany like a horror version of juarassic park- more like the books. Imagine how horrifyingly brilliant that could be! I swear this has so much potential
It would be cool if they made another movie, but this one is like the events after jurassic world, like theres another island where the keep the faild hybrids and when everything shuts down the hybrids take over that island
Jurassic World have the best moments of the trilogy, the scale, the danger of the situations doesnt hit the same on the sequels, we truly need an horror jurassic park movie, dinosaurs are not for kids industry
Looking forward to seeing what other videos you have plan for October and maybe completing the rest of Dino crisis for this lead up to Halloween event and idk maybe for next year's maybe dino crisis 2 not dino crisis 3 that game was a complete mess about as much so as velma the series but unlike Velma the 3rd installment was more tolerable than this black sheep of the Scooby Doo franchise... anyway as usual great content as usual man keep up the hard work and as always my friend take it easy. 💪🤠👍
I feel like Indominous however-you-spell-it final design was, while good, a bit of a missed opportunity. It looks too similar to a normal spino mixed with trex made albino. I wanted to see something a little more implacable. A little more ambiguous and grotesque. I love the abandoned idea with the cricked neck looking one, that looks freaking gnarly. Like you see that coming at you and you don’t know what it wants. Indominous wants meat, it’s hungry. But that thing? It’s probably hungry. But maybe it’s just crazed and rabid. I love that. The franchise could have a really good way to fix themselves. They could make a movie about a lab and another island and a whole batch of new genetic dinosaurs, similar or totally off the wall. They drop hints through the film, and only at the end is it clearly revealed, this film goes back in time to the original park or even before- and was a failed island that no one survived to tell about. Or, some survivors escaped, but weren’t believed or they just fled and never spoke of it again. That puts it back in the cannon timeline and gives creative freedom without undoing current cannon.
JW1 Is the best one of the new trilogy. But I still think there's some small changes I would've like to see to make the movie better. For example i would have enjoyed some more horror elements. The Indominus is a great antagonist and I wish they leaned more into her ability to be scary.
Did you ever talk about or go over the Spinosaurus from JP3 possibly being the first real 'accidental' hybrid? There was some stuff the released during JW that was hidden on the website that suggested the Spinosaurus was an accident, they were trying to make something else.
I personally have never been sold on the mosquito DNA thing to begin with. I know in the original film they explain how you can't synthesize dinosaur DNA without massive sequence gaps, which were filled using frog DNA --- but I think ((And I'd argue Dr Wu's rant in JW implies)) that they weren't ever actually extracting dinosaur DNA from mosquitos, rather they were creating genetic hybrids in the likeness of 80s dinosaurs, using genetic engineering and hybrid DNA from modern animals. The mosquitos were just a cover story for the press to distract from their illegal hybrid animal research. I mean think about it --- Jurassic Park planned to have the mosquito demonstration as part of their public park tour. Yet they were also worried about Biosyn stealing their patented techniques? If you had a monopoly on the method to extract dinosaur DNA, and were afraid of corporate competition, why would you go public with the knowledge of how you did it? It also conveniently explains why it is that their dinosaurs look like science's best understanding of dinosaurs, as of the 80s. The engineers at jurassic park didn't want real dinosaurs --- they wanted animals that looked like the dinosaurs in picture books so they could sell more toys and tickets.
tbh i think the indominus rex looked pretty scary in the movie. seeing those designs, though, they are pretty cool. also damn, those drawings are really good. okay, i thought the troodons in the telltale game sounded made up! lol. i wasn't sure though.
Something that I would LOVE to see is a Jurassic Park movie that is more like the novels, I feel like even the scariest JP movies were nothing compred to the novels and I would absoulutely go crazy if they did like a more close to the novel adaptation. Maybe somethibg like how they rebooted the spiderman movies? Idk, something like that, with a scarier feal, (maybe R rated) would probably be great.
I see what you mean about how the Jurassic movies diverted a lot, but I will say I love the indoraptor that is so sexy! lol but im partial to raptors too, that is my fav creature design. i think it would have been cool to see some of the old "failed" designs in the movie and how they got to what they had
