Tragedy and perseverance. This is the story of Las Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell. Thank you for watching The Halftime Show! If you like this video, it would help us greatly if you smash the like and subscribe button!
I don't know every player that is considered mobile or pocket passer. Are you saying that more than half of NFL QBs are mobile QBs now or that things are beginning to shift?
@@raiderwolf2066 think he means like, patrick mahomes is a mobile passer, josh allen is a mobile passer, jalen hurts is a mobile passer, justin fields is a mobile passer, lamar jackson is a mobile passer and many more ig
"In a day when pocket passers are a thing of the past" "insane rise of Aiden occonnel" what is this the fucking twilight zone??? Wtf???? I'll leave you brainstormers to it...Holy shit
Huge Raiders fan, I really hope it works out for this kid, I really do, how could you not? Seems like a good kid, keeps his head down and does the work
His release is extremely fast too. There's a couple times I thought he was gonna take a sack but slung the ball out. That's a great skill to have and you can't really teach it
In my 50+ years of watching the NFL, I've never seen a team turn around after a midseason coaching change like the Raiders have (so far) and O'Connell has been a big reason for that. Rooting for the kid!
I have never in all my life bought a jersey for any player of any team I have cheered in fact the only jersey I would have ever bought was that of Allen Iverson because that was one of the toughest players to ever lace them up and he never backed down from anyone on the court and I am a lifetime Clippers fan. I watched this video and I really hope and will pray that he succeeds because he seems like a very good person and a great QB in the making. I will buy his Jersey because something about his story just hits home and I know That Raiders Nation is behind him 100%
I want this kid to win not because he is a Raider and I love my Raiders but he is exactly what the American Raider dream is put the hard work in never let anyone punch you in the mouth without punching back harder and the hard work will pay dividends
I’m a Purdue fan and I actually got to be at some of Aidan O’Connell’s best games and whenever a scout said he just had a average arm I would just think that the scout had never seen Aidan O’Connell
Many of the best players were overlooked early on. Guys who had to fight to get everywhere they've gotten because they weren't natural stars or didn't fit a certain mold. But when they get their opportunity, they make a difference.
That was a great video. Learned even more about AOC. Whether he is a starter or backup, or 3rd....it wont matter, he will make it thru and be successful....hes got the fight, the will, the determination, and most importantly the faith. GO RAIDERS!! 🏴☠️💀
Let's go Aiden and lets go Raiders. Feel for the kid getting thrown into this position (no real OC / interim coach) - but he's mature and professional. i want him to succeed so badly! screw the haters here in the comments lol - it's just a positive, hopeful story about a dude that's worked hard his whole life.
Thank you, glad that you enjoyed it. I hope Aidan continues to prove he deserves a shot to keep his job and wins the Raiders a lot of games! He is a winner on and off the field.
Raider fan here. I really feel like he could be the Qb of the future. When I watch him it doesn’t feel like I’m watching a rookie. Got a bright future ahead of him
I hope he does well for our Raiders, Im hoping he earns that starting spot again this year, he just has that fire in him. He may not be perfect but he works damn hard.
Thanks for this video 🙌 very informative, I was going to cheer him on regardless due to being a raiders fan lol but now I want to see him succeed even more-so!
W😮W, I love him even more now...... I don't follow college football but in the preseason I could tell that he was something special n knew somehow that he would end up starting soon enough n (hopefully) be a permanent fixture leading this Raiders team back to greatness.... Too early to tell but he's off to a great start n I have the utmost confidence in this guy... He's already the man in my book and he has a whole nation behind him 🤍🖤🤍🖤
bro istg the entire preseason my dad was hyping o’connell up and i told him he was j being a biased fan, but now i get it, the dude definitely has the mentality
IF ANTONIO PIERCE WAS THE RAIDERS COACH AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON. RAIDERS WOULD HAVE BEATEN THE CHARGERS IN AIDAN O'CONNELL'S FIRST CAREER NFL START AS RAIDERS QUATERBACK/1# & AOC WOULD BE UNDEFEATED AS A STARTER.
I saw him play for the first time in preseason.....this year I knew without a doubt Aiden O'Connell would be the Raider quarterback of the near future. After the ugly losses by the Raiders to start the season, I began getting more and more impatient, and very angry with the Raiders for not using Aiden. It didn't make any sense to me why McDaniels could not see what was very obvious. Hoyer is not a Raider, Jimmy Glass is not a Raider, O'Connell is definitely a Raider. Only a real Raider fan can see through the bullshit and know what is good for the team. The Snake, The Stork, Dave Casper, Cliff Branch, Lester Hayes, Fred Balenticof . Those guys are Raider's, just to name a few.
This kid is the next Great Raiders QB. We need to build the roster around him. Right side of the offensive line, defensive line, add a cb, and 2 more lbs we're rolling 🏆
We’ll see how he plays this weekend… need to thank Miami for being a high scoring team… Aiden will get to show if he can be the gunslinger he was at Purdue at this level.
As a Purdue fan and Alum, I started watching the NFL again with Aidan playing, but only the Raiders. If Aidan doesn't play, I don't watch. I prefer College Football... they actually play with more heart.
AOC would significantly benefit from an extensive training season alongside the wide receivers, concentrating on refining his timing and related skills. As many have rightly pointed out, securing the guidance of a proficient quarterback coach would be instrumental in honing his footwork, mobility, and pocket awareness. If he's smart he'd seize the opportunity and dedicate himself to this developmental work during the entire off-season.
Glad in the interview he talked about competitiveness at qb I hope he fight and win the job and has a great season with the raiders raiderssssss RN4L just win baby
All of this team transformation is in the Raider tradition. They were an organization that did pretty ok with a promoted-linebacker coach..John Madden? Yep. Homegrown.. The rest is history. AP doesn't need to be taught "the Raider Way". He's the way the team understands the "Committment to Excellence" motto. Their mission to get their players to buy in and believe is done! Their remaining schedule sucks, so AP and the squad may take their predicted lumps. Focus on their intensity...
Been following the Raiders since 1974. First and foremost I'm a student of the game. I will say this to all non-believers of AOC, and to the "know it all" analyst /GM'S. You'll feel he's not a franchise or starting quarterback. The Raiders should look into next year draft and go get one even if it means giving up boat load of draft capital now and future picks. Let me enlighten you to the fact that he's a ROOKIE!!! Only started 5 games. Troy Aikman drafted by the Cowboys, Peyton Manning drafted by the Colts in their first year starting. How did they do? What became of them and the team they played for moving forward? Respectfully speaking, you'll lack foresight when it comes to giving a solid assessment of what should or need to be done. Give AOC a full off-season to correct his flaws (holds the ball too long) attend OTA's and training camp. Becoming more decisive on his progression. Surround him via draft and free agency talented physical smart offensive linemen, and he's going to be a problem for other teams especially, in his own division barring injuries. He's accurate and has demonstrated a strong arm that is capable of sustaining drives, mentally tough. My assessment of AOC moving forward, expect a big improvement in his abilities to execute effectively his assignment.
