For DECADES you had a fairly even split that mostly stayed roughly the same and then sometime around 2012 your chances of forming a relationship from a real life interaction falls to 5%... So basically you're now FORCED to use online dating if you want any chance at all, whereas before it was merely a tool used by people that were too busy in their lives or struggled meeting people in real life... And it's all run by private corporations that benefit from you NOT finding a match. So glad I met my wife in 2012 right before Tinder really started to take off.

im not even going to lie i gave up on dating 7 years ago but just recently reached out of my comfort zone and am now dating exactly the type of person i always hoped for and needed. tbh i am against apps(just think they are flawed as a concept but they do work for a lot of people just not the people i was looking for) personally i believe to just work on yourself dont be creepy or incel-ish and dont be afraid to throw yourself out there by showing interest in other people. i used to fear rejection when i first started asking for numbers again but at worst you're complimenting them in a way so its actually rare to have a bad interaction. some say no at first and later on try to see if you're still interested. i dont think im attractive either just try to smell nice dress clean and i like to upkeep my haircut but im still a chubby guy at the end of the day. ive had more luck than i expected but not all yes's are a guaranteed anything, even when they do give you their number anyways thats a whole 'nother job LOL but just cant cling on to the negative feeling or overthink things when you get a no and keep fishing. another big one is DON'T KEEP TRYING AT PEOPLE YOU DON'T CLICK WITH FAST. i wish i did that when i was younger. also don't fish just to fish, have a reasonable target and respect both you and other peoples time.

Honestly, I'm just not going to actively look outside of people I meet in my day-to-day. Relationships eat up most of the time I like to spend on my hobbies and if it's a kind of "forced" thing like "I need to not be single", it's not gonna work out anyway and I'd be better off just doing what I like, living at my own pace. If I run into someone I like a lot at some point, I'll go for it.

Im from Brazil, and installed tinder after watching both videos out of curiosity, and I found out I do not fit in this app. swiped for about 20 minutes, I liked maybe 3 profiles, and I was on speedrun mode. Don't get me wrong, most people are (or present themselves) beatiful, but the vibe they give is so unrealistic I cringe.

Dating apps are worse in Japan. Tinder is literally only photos of food, animated characters, or the back of their head. Bumble is a bit better when it comes to profiles, but its more of a friend matchmaking app, a lot of people arent actually looking for dates.
