No, tyla is signifying a beginning of a new era. the 00's bodies are in small, skinny and petite. She got a snatched hourglass tiny waist. She got that award because she is marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
No, her song went viral. She may be an upcoming artist but that don’t mean she doesn’t deserve that Grammy. Especially as an Amapiano artist that gave the song a much more publicity platform.
Tyla has a couple cool songs like truth or dare, butterfly effect and water BUT tems should be winning if we talking african women doing music. Not to compare but tyla been around only one year or so. And before that was only a south african youtuber doing mukbangs with her homegirl. Tems was doing all the ground work or Davido and JayO. Anyone. 😢
Well her marketing team is not making the right moves...Tems is amazing but I don't see her in spaces that she needs to be....like performing at award shows...also her biggest records are where she features...and her solo songs should've been pushed more creatively....tyla has take advantage of every opportunity....her team is marketing her perfectly
I do agree that Tems should be getting love to but I mean I still gotta give Tyla her flowers tho she been making music for 5 years and just now getting shown
The difference with an american artist hopping on a song like water is that the original song is still very english/ american with an amapiano groove in the background. Like there's barely even african slang in the song if anything it sounds like an american rnb singer on afro.
Tyla & Black Coffee won as solo artist but they are not the only people who have won it Black Mambazo have won it 5 times as a group and Soweto Gospel Choir with 3 grammy wins .
I'm happy for Tyla's success. The crossover hits coming from Africa have been so Nigeria-dominant, it gets boring. Everyone nominated for that Grammy was Nigerian apart from Tyla. The Grammy category is 'Best African Perfromance', not best Nigerian performance so the recording academy need to do better. It's nice to see another country, and another music scene in Africa get some shine for a change, esp bc Amapiano is taking over! 🇿🇦
Especially since Nigeria takes so much influence from other African counties, including South Africa. It's great to see more diversity. I hope this opens the door for more Africans to be represented. Not just Nigeria. Hope it's not seen as hate. I love Nigerians. I love my brothers and sisters all across the globe. I just want to see more diversity.
@@nikk5002 No one's blaming Nigeria. We're just happy that other countries are getting their flowers. Please don't turn this into an argument between Nigeria and South Africa (or other African countries). We can all grow and flourish. I want to see Nigeria shine AND all other African people that are making good music.
You sound extra BITTER! The reason the other nominees were Nigerian is because NIGERIANS are the ones who have popularised Afrobeats and music from the continent. Without Nigerian artists the grammy category would not exist! Tyla only won because of colorism in the music industry, the way she looks is more palatable to non-black audiences.
10:05 Tyla isn't an Afrobeats artists & Afrobeats artists tend to come out of Nigeria & Ghana where the genre comes from also Afrobeats has been huge outside of Africa for more than a decade now it's just that like always Americans have caught on late.
she’s talented but it’s just another lightskin getting more praise as usual honestly. that’s just how the industry is. same thing with ice spice 🤷🏽♀️ it’s all about looks and whose more marketable. there’s so much more people who deserve recognition for the amount of work they put in consistently for years and make music that lasts
It's not her fault she got better management than Ayra and Tems Her sound is unique too, Amapiano mixed with Pop & R&B that's different compared to her counterparts. Why is Normani bigger than Chlöe Bailey or Halle Bailey even Tinashe?
She needs protection around her 1000% she will be abused like Britney Spears back in the day if the wrong ppl get they claws on her .. and she’s adorable so.. please god protect this woman (and all woman) ❤
Please rewatch this video you clearly did not watch it did you see the numbers this song has? Did you see the countries this song is viral on did you see that list and the numbers it has? Definitely deserved a grammy nomination without a doubt
@@vim2339”imo” and they’re only saying this cause sis got a Grammy bc before this everyone was wanting for her to have the best career. Now that she has a Grammy over artists that they feel deserve it more, she’s mid.
Dee if you haven’t had a good experience with American artists doing Afrobeats u should definitely check out « the gift » by Beyoncé. I think that you mentioned that you haven’t listened to it yet.
Interesting Dee’s differences between this and Chloe’s video. Tyla is younger than Chloe and grew up sheltered as well and she be twerking and talking abt sex so why is Chloe so different to y’all?
because chloe is cringy and embarrassing trying to be sexy. she has no sex appeal and is very OVERLY sexual. she’s a try hard, while it’s natural for tyla.
It seems forced that’s it. Like it seems like that girl really don’t wanna be doin all that but has to bc sex sells…just not for her. And again, that’s my opinion so don’t get it twisted.
@@Beyoncéisthegoat Chloe's is forced. All that talent she has and it feels like they are trying to have her follow the footsteps of Beyonce. Tyla is in that South African Amapiano lane which comes naturally especially for her generation.
Let’s keep it a buck she ain’t done nothing to get a Grammy, everybody on that list literally deserved it more, from Asake right back to Aystar. And she doesn’t make “Afro-beats” she makes amapiano music and idc what anyone says she didn’t popularise the genre like bfrr. Afro beats is a different genre and has been mainstream for years now outside of Africa.
The point of the matter is, the Grammys are a joke that’s why they’re always snubbing sza, it doesn’t matter what she’s done for the culture if all she has to do is have one of the biggest songs of 2023 to get a Grammy. Like come on this is the Grammys this ain’t the Oscar’s.
you get a grammy beause " they " want to push you . And IDK if you noticed but tyla is the " it" girl they are using to being back skinny, petite bodies. Everyone is tryingto look like her. Tiny hourglass waist, slim everywhere else.
How is her first performance at a Dolce & Gabanna event? They dont hust invite anyone to perform. And then she got a collab from Travis when she only has one hit. This how you know she an industry plant!
I mean sure but like when we think of industry plants we think of jlo and ice spice, people with no talent. I would rather much pull the lightskin privilege on this one.
The other grammy nominee Arya Starr is just as beautiful and talented but is not getting the same attention because she is Black not biracial like Tyla. Its not a coincidence that Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicky Minaj etc are the most successful Black female artists and are all lighter than a brown paper bag. Colorism plays a big part of Tyla's success.
@@AngeBiampandouand there’s nothing wrong with being known for your marriage-if it’s a good one. Idk what you were trying to say bc Russell seems like a good man.
