Just over a year has now passed since I completed the main build of the interior on my campervan and I thought I'd share how my design and build has worked out, what I have changed and why?

I think the Tambour door makes a big difference in a small space. The pocket hangers are a great idea for all those little things, neat solution, and easy to find everything.

Thanks for the update John - which only helped confirm that you did a really great job with your build👍 If you were starting the build again (heaven forbid😂), would you consider just going with the Dabbson unit, to free up some more boot space?

Let’s hope I don’t have to do that all again 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣 but if I did I’d replicate this van as I’m very happy with how everything works, the dual power setup is perfect.

Know what you mean ,never Finished. I bought a motohome 4 years ago for full time. It ticked all the right boxes just what I wanted. I’ve made lots of changes, and still more I keep thinking about.

Great video! I had a similar issue with my van door. When I was spraying ptfe lubricant on my deadlocks, I thought, why not lubricate the door and its wheels... what a difference! It requires VERY little effort now!

You do realise that you are the reason I now want a bigger van🤣. Your setup would be perfect for me cos I'm considering selling my house and going full time in a van. I'm still considering it yet but it looking more and more like the logical way to go. I dont want a huge uber long wheelbase van, just one like yours thats easy to drive and get around-plus stand up in. Not that I dont like Viv-i-van cos I do but for full time, she simply isnt bing enough. Thanks for the tour John. Thank you great vlog 👍Thank you very much. I watched you build the van and learned lots from you thanks. Iv just finished mine, (swb transit) but like you say it’s never finished and Amazon love me 😂. Some things I think I heard you say long ago ,that the led lights take a bit of current . I bought a couple of dimmers with Amazon and brought the current down from over 2 amps to well under an amp . I also have a fridge like yours but 65ltr and had to get up in the night to stick black tap over the led . Well done thank you 👍👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢

Very well done John. With the maxair fans, if I'm in the bedroom and it's hot, if I open the bedroom fan lid (but don't switch it on) and then turn on the other max fan in the front, the draw is somehow actually 100% better and cools the bedroom far better than if it was on. I don't understand but it just is! Try it out and see what you think. All the best 😊

Nice tour John. Validates the KISS theory, which I whole heatedly subscribe to. Only wish there had been Solway panels for Sprinter when I was building - very slick.

I build the room so I could fit a shower in but I’ve always found showers as I travel so I still don’t have a shower. It really simplifies the water setup in the van too.

Great tour and a great looking van John . Did you use a vapour barrier between the solway panels and the insulation? I am thinking the plastic solway panel would do something similar👍👍

Thank you. No I didn’t use a vapour barrier, I made my van like they make cars, not houses, as I figured car manufacturers spend billions on R & D to get everything setup for a moving vehicle. So far that’s paid off as I’ve not had any issues with condensation, nothing has broken or come loose & comparing my van to others who made their van using the building industry standards, I think it’s very clear which one works best in a moving vehicle.

Could I please ask the thickness of the PIR board you used on the floor? Going without battens is a weight and cost saving which I’m going to be using. I’m 6ft 1 so trying to decide if 25mm would be enough insulation for the floor.

The space under the bed can’t be any less in order to fit my bike in & the bed can’t go any further up in height because the vans internal dimensions start to diminish. So the bed is set to the optimal height.

John who do you think provides the best deal for pay as you go SIM cards for the van WiFi antenna, I'm asking because I've just had antenna fitted on my caravan as we were having problems when in the van, thanks buddy, PS sending love to Mandy and hope her treatment is going as good as possible

No, that’s just the way the facia locks in place. My kill switch / breakers are on the wall where my chargers are mounted.

Hi John, i have a fairly random question which I was hoping you might be able to help with. Not gadget related. We have been living in our motorhome for over two years, but essentially still had a home address as left our son living at home. However, he is buying his own place so we have decisions to make. I don't think you have a home address so how do you manage without one or do you use that of a family member for things like official documents and Drs, dentist etc. Obviously great if you can answer directly, but if not then perhaps make a video. If you've answered previously in a video the apologies, just point me the the one to watch. Best. Kath

After selling our house we asked family & friends if possible could we use their address for post, and to stay overnight a handful of times a year, so that’s how we picked our address. This means we have an emergency place to stay if there’s any reason we can’t use our camper and it’s also nice as someone can open the post & send photos of it so we know if we’ve got a parking ticket etc.

At the widest points it’s 64cm wide and 96cm front to back. I’m very happy with it, not only is it a good size for doing your daily 1s & 2s but it’s a good private area to get dressed too.

John please could I ask if when you edit, you put any writing fonts at the top half of the video, I have a hearing problem so have subtitles on, and unfortunately when you put writing in your edits at the bottom, it overlays and it’s difficult to see the subtitles, I know you must spend ages editing videos and this might be an ask to far, but thanks anyway

I’d be making changes all the time if everyone had their own way, so whilst I appreciate the issue it’s not something I can do as the industry standard for text on screen is to place them in the lower 3rd of the screen. You can always pause the part of the video showing text and that should allow you easy access to read.

Initially, with double the batteries and a lot of unnecessary weight, it was 3.3T but it’s now 2.9T
