Many years ago it was a wonderful privilege for my wife and I to host Ray Steadman Allen in our home for a weekend Band Reunion of Halifax Citadel Band of which I was then Bandmaster. Ray was not only an outstanding musician but also a most gracious Christian Gentleman. It was a joy to play under his baton. Unfortunately Halifax Citadel, like numerous SA Corps now defunct and we have to rely on happy memories.

Undoubtedly one of the finest God glorifying pieces of music to come from the pen of Lt. Colonel Ray Steadman-Allen. Seldom heard because of its technical difficulty. The tonal quality of the International Staff Band here is absolutely sublime, their attention to detail, dynamics and so importantly their personal knowledge of the words associated with the tunes ("Ascalon " is one) shines through - this is God glorifying music at its absolute finest.
The lovely sound of the ISB. An interesting composition highlighting the sections of the band with its varying moods. The beautiful central theme a blessing indeed.
I so love this piece. And it could not have been performed with any more sincerity than by this group Of heartfelt musicians under the baton of the iconic Stephen Cobb. So inspiring
