As a former member of the salvation army and a BBb bass,player for over forty years i have two words SHEER BRILLIANCE, but i would expect nothing less from the ISB
When a piece is written for your band, you tend to have high expectations of it and this did not dissappoint! Great piece, brilliantly played by an awesome band!
I recall the first time that I heard the central melody, it was November 1985 when the ISB visited Neath. During the festival whilst still seated they commenced singing this tune. It really established the Christian message that evening. Their singing was as good as their playing but we don’t hear it quite so much these days. Thanks ISB for that evening.

Yes. Especially the transfer from the Cornet to the Flügelöhorn at 3:10 is ingenious. For me the most beautiful recording on youtube. Everything fits. The only thing to notice is that the tubes are a bit too massive from 7:40 onwards.

Salvation army bands do not have repiano cornet parts. As this piece was written for the ISB120 celebration and the solo was on flugal I guess it was changed before publication.
