Honestly, I like the comic version of the events underwater better. The whole marriage thing was still a thing, and had a big cultural significance. Years ago, the first ruler of the country was on a date with a noble woman who wasn't super interested-probably an arranged marriage thing-when they were attacked by a giant monster. The first king guy instantly went to fight it off to protect her, and that selfless act really touched her heart. They eventually did get married, and that became the basis of courtship in the country. The men have to prove their worth by fighting one of those monsters. I like the story and how it impacted the culture of the country. As for Mark, he really didn't want to marry the Queen, and he found out that one of her guards or the concierge-someone liked that-loved her but he respected the culture and customs so he wasn't trying to pursue her. Mark came up with a plan that would get him out of marrying her, let the guy have his chance, and fulfill the customs and laws of Atlantis. When the time came for the fight he acted like a coward, and refused to fight the beast, letting the other guy take over the fight. And everyone was happy. The Queen was impressed by the bravery, Mark got the guy together with the person he loved-total wingman-and Mark didn't have to marry the fish lady. I do like the joke about how they've done away with that barbaric practice, only to replace it Wit the equally barbaric fight to the death though.

Fun Fact @ 24:10 The person playing as Head of the council & speaking to Allen is Peter Cullen. This is the 1st occurrence I've ever seen him play this character role though. He is an "illustrious voice actor known for such roles as Eeyore in “Winnie the Pooh” and the otherworldly hunter we know well as the “Predator.” But it is his role in “Transformers” as the wise Swiss Army Knife semi-truck-turned-robot Optimus Prime that has earned Cullen the most attention." - Sarah Sicard (Militarytimes)

(Currently watching her talk in the beginning) It’s reactions like these that really make me enjoy Natalie as a reactor because she’s actually honest about what she likes and doesn’t like about works that she reacts to; that’s not always how reactors are, they’ll sometimes pretend to like literally everything in order to not ruffle and feathers, but I appreciate the honesty. Just wanted to acknowledge that!

Man, this show is absolutely brilliant. The way season 2 both sets up aspects of a larger story while still having its focus directly on how the character's deal with the aftermath of season 1 is amazing. There's a camp of people who only know little pieces of the future story through like... Tik Tok and stuff who only wanna see the big action set pieces but the story of Invincible is about the people in it. Crazy stuff happens to these people but the point isn't the crazy stuff but how those things affect the characters and that's what's so wonderful about both the comic and the show. They never sacrifice the story just for spectacle. Can't wait to see your reaction to the 2nd half of the season and I am beyond excited to see season 3 at some point.

The white lion guy in the Coolition of Planets is not the same one as Battle Beast (aka Thokk) who almost killed Mark in season 1. That one is just part of the same race hence why he looks similar.

Cryptic Studios video game City of Heroes which was a Multi-level, Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game had some subterranean dwellers called Magmites (lava creatures) and Pumicites (volcanic rock creatures). 😅 City of Heroes was a Superhero/ Supervillain game where you could design/customize your own hero or villain. You could build superhero bases or villain lairs, create superhero or supervillain groups and play solo or with random pick up teams to complete missions or end game content. Very, very addictive game with a lot of lore and the best Avatar costume creator ever made. You could literally make any type of hero or villain you could dream of. I miss it. 😢 The villain Doc Seismic reminds me of a cross between The Mole Man, Magneto and Moses Magnum all villains in the Marvel Comics Universe. 😮
