Ever wonder where your food and plants actually come from? The answer may surprise you: agricultural guest workers, mainly from Mexico. These workers are fundamental pieces to the agricultural puzzle in the U.S., yet there is barely any data or information known about them. Dr. Kline’s research changes that. She discusses her survey research on H2A visa workers in Ohio, sharing the lives and experiences of the men she spoke with, and explains what states can do to better support these valuable yet invisible employees. A geographer and Latin Americanist, Anisa Kline studies agricultural guestworkers, their employers, and the communities that host them. She is currently working with Dr. Margaret Jodlowski in OSU’s Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Developments Economics on a series of papers about agricultural labor and policy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
