Unfortunately you may own the device but you do not own the software and all the hardware is controlled by the software. So yeah you own that glass screen panel? Oh you broke it? Lol we aren't going to let you get an aftermarket replacement because that will make us lose money. They literally shut down the phone. Same with this software situation for the SE, They want you to buy new phones they don't want you working off old software so what do they do? They stop the software working completely. rendering the hardware which technically you don't even own useless. Now android does this in a way too You're guaranteed X number of years of brand new updates from the phones release then no more updates including security patches and if you want up-to-date software then you need to purchase a newer model. As far as I'm aware though android has not shut down phones regarding software unless we go to the Note7... but that's a whole other story.

Those also dont have the A9 chip.

Oh man, back in the day before Android had adopted ‘high refresh rates’ to combat that laggy experience while scrolling, iPhone had a virtual monopoly on a solidly smooth UI experience from the 2008 iPhone 3GS on up. And honestly, it was just really tight integration between their bespoke software and mostly in-house hardware. Obviously high refresh rates displays are wayyyy nicer, but they just eat up a ton more battery life, and if modern SoC’s weren’t so efficient, we never could have mass adopted them like we do today.

Every iOS version on it's newest hardware is buttery smooth. And actually iOS 15 is running really well on the original SE except that it drain the battery.

Fully usable, i have no clue why people say that un-updated are unusable. I sold 17 of them in different colors this month. I even used it for 3-4 days, literally the same user experience as any newer iPhone. The problem is, in fact, that later ir will be obsolete, but now is perfectly fine.

Older iPhones don’t get slower. Batteries degrade you egg lol

@@emilsecker7881 Older IPhones get slow. My father had a iPhone 6s with the latest iOS. It was overheating also slow and that why he upgraded to an iPhone 12 mini.

@@LetzBlend usually replacing the battery helps because when the battery degrades the iphone automatically gets slower to compencate, along with updates that also make devices slower.

It’s not able to be downgraded back to, it’s the original iOS that shipped with the phone, and you can’t activate them anymore.

@@emilsecker7881 that argument sucks lmao, i also disable windows update on my pc for obvious reasons like not having to wait an eternity and the fact some updates are so catastrophique it breaks windows. With not updating ios, you just keep your device blazing fast, you get to keep the old ui if u like it better, and who knows theres also small reasons that only u like, like having an untethered jailbreak for ios 9 on a9 or even 32 bit compatibility. It should be obvious but people think the latest is the best and omggggg ur device is so unsecure if u dont update!!! Yes there has been critical exploits like on ios 9.3.4 and bellow, but in that case if u have 9.3.5 or u never connect it to the internet you are literally fine, or if u have a brain and know how to detect viruses, which is a skill you get from experience.

None of this would ever matter for a phone that is never being used in case you still didn’t realize that the whole purpose I’m holding on to this phone is to preserve it on such an iconic version of iOS that still had the beautiful slide to unlock screen and ran buttery smooth.

Yes, it has no problems doing such because that’s the last version of iOS the 4s can update to. It’s the devices that can go up to other versions, like the 6s, that are having this problem because Apple wants them to be updated to iOS 15.

@@SOTP. it’s actually not that slow on iOS 15. It’s very fast. iPhones from the 6s and up are very usable. It’s not like the 6 and below where iPhones got slower on every version. Maybe the 6s does get slower but it performs very well on iOS 15, whereas the 5s and 6 struggle somewhat on iOS 12, and they suffer from keyboard lag and things like that. The 6s doesn’t suffer from these problems
