I tried to teach with ipython notebook in an introductory course, and I think the biggest thing ipython notebook needs in this context is a way to open a notebook by double-clicking on it. It's slightly mystifying to the newbies when they have to open a terminal and type "cd folder" and "ipython notebook". It would also be nice if an infinite loop with a print statement inside didn't grind Firefox to a halt while sucking up all the machine's memory.

No, when a browser is rock-solid frozen, clicking anywhere has no effect.

Thanks for this great video exploring Jupyter! Super useful. Just the other day I found out about Jupyter, which is like iPython but on steroid. How can I miss this all this time...

I do not know Python, but I *love* IPython Notebooks! I use the IFsharp kernel, and I can render MDX and SQL to tables with a few dozen lines of code! So this can be useful for business-intelligence developers; I bet that's an unconventional use.

I used the F# kernel for IPython first, but then I learned a little bit of Python so that I could use IPython (and teach some Python, after 3 weeks of learning it.)

Very nice presentation. I've started using IPython too after 7 years of Python (Eclipse/PyDev) programming. Not sure why it's not included with Python distribution.

Adrian Zambrano No, it's being run on your computer over your local network, and your browser is getting it before it even leaves to the LAN (if you're connected to on.)
