Wow, now wasn’t that an interesting movie and it was so awesome to have a black-and-white! I truly truly enjoyed this movie two thumbs up for the dog👍🏼👍🏼 he was a hero. Four stars for the movie.⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was a pretty awesome movie. And thank you for sharing and uploading PizzA flicks.💐👍🏼👍🏼🇨🇦
Interesting - thank you for posting! I forget that Boris Karloff didn't just do horror movies - so a heads-up to anyone who thinks this might be that! In this, he's actually one of those seemingly minor characters that an entire plot turn hinges on ........
Especially when you watch them via one old school way: 16mm film projector at home! When I bought my first film projector, the seller threw this in for free (he only had Reel 2).
I remember when I was just married arriving at that very same landing seeing that very same house and we stayed at that very same house in the background. Fortunately we came across no monster, unless my wife thought I was one.
When I was young all we had were black and white movies like this one.... I enjoy seeing these oldies. Fun to watch.. Thank you for making available again
Color sets weren't really a part of the home until the mid 60's. Until then it was those rather smallish metal and plastic sets with the rabbit-ear antennas. We got 7 VHF channels if we were lucky - UHF if you were brave. And knobs galore ! Visits from your TV repair man, - open the back and it was a forest of tubes; tubes you could take to any grocery or drug store to test yourself (that is, - if any of them worked and you could figure-out just 'how' they were supposed to work !) Those were the days, when station's signed-off and were never 24 hours. 📺 - they didn't even look like this yet !
It was cheaper, and cooler (no extra thousand watt extra bulbs to make the scene brighter), to film in black and white. 1968: NBC announces Living Color (it's sibling was Living Stereo for records).
This is actually a pretty good movie. Subtitles or dubbing are your only two choices with foreign films and the dubbing is just fine. Thank you for giving us some variety.
"I must congratulate you again. A man like you must succeed, you can accomplish any scheme you work out, because you have absolutely no scruples at all". Wow! Try to wrap your mind around that". Thanks again Pizzafix.
Dude goes undercover to capture smugglers and his clueless wife shows up with the annoying child and wonders why he has to go to work rather than go sightseeing! Who wrote this 🤣🤣🤣🤣?
I know. Karloff voice is perfect for any movie. Just seeing him and hearing another voice is so very wrong. And the little girl sounds like she inhaled helium
Love this channel.I would have rather lived in this time.Today:Everyone is a villain and hardly no one has a chance..Thank you Pizza Flix for this movie.
Gravmper! DEd River tREE Threer? I looked at your playlists, you’re a child. You are correct though, that, in this life you can do whatever you want to do. But, know this, that there will be consequences for our words, thoughts and deeds when we are judged on Judgement Day. Stop fooling around and get ready to meet your Creator. You can be saved, if you want to. I hope you choose Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and that you become obedient to Him.
Although this might have played Italian language theaters in America, it was really only seen in this country when it was dubbed into English and sold to television. When interviewed by good ol' CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN magazine we got this exchange- COF: In 1953 you made another film in Italy-IL MOSTRA DELL'ISOLA-[THE MONSTER OF THE ISLAND]... BK: Oh, yes. Oh, God. COF: Can you recall much about this one? BK: No. I haven't the least idea what it was like. Incredible! Dreadful! No one in the outfit spoke English; I don't speak Italian. Just hopeless.I had a very good time, but that's beside the point.
I didn't know the Italians had their own "Lassie"! That was one smart dog. He found the hideout of the drug syndicate and Fiorella sooner than all the people, though he was limited in what he could do about it.
once at Monsterpalooza in Burbank my brother and his wife and I were waiting for a table and the waitress asked us 'Karloff, table for three?', as Carla his daughter was also waiting with two others as well, it was terribly thrilling
Yes, this is a badly dubbed movie, with even Karloff's voice being dubbed (despite that he spoke his lines in English while filming). From what I've read (forget where) that the only reason Karloff took this role was the filming location. Of course, the 'monster' in this film is Karloff's role as a drug lord.
You can't beat an old dubbed Italian film with Boris in. I will watch anything though. Still it was very enjoyable but a few disgruntled types might have a whinge because there was no monster. I don't know how you can moan about the qualities of an Italian b movie that is free on youtube. Thanks for the upload I would never have seen this if you hadn't posted it.
The dubbed acting in this is so atrocious that it should be a cult classic for that alone. Even Boris Karloff's self-dubbed lines are bad. He sounds like he recorded all his dialogue in his study late one night, having to keep his voice low and nearly whispering so he didn't wake up the rest of the house. Of course his recorded dialogue doesn't line up with his lip movement in the movie. It's all so bad it's almost good.
Always liked Boris Karloff s. Voice he gave the be narration in the original cartoon version of how the Grinch stole Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 a classic I believe he also was host to thriller theater or something similar 😅😅😅
Boris Karloff made some really shity movies courses best movie was Frankenstein who played the monster I haven't seen him in anything that I like since then except that one with Peter Lorre and Vincent Price
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I realize that English isn't your first language. You've written, "...made some really shity (shitty) movies courses best movie was Frankenstein..." It's not "courses best movie". It's, "Of course his best movie is..." I read your sentence and realized that it sounds quite similar.
I've never seen this movie, and I'm not even two minutes into it...But I'm wondering about the shape of the heads in the two characters in the first scene...I don't remember hair ever looking like that, and yes I was living then...😕
Boris Karloff didn't want to waste his time memorizing a script so he just moved his lips & they got a guy to dub the words in later. Karloff got a free trip to Italy & some money for this turkey and he made extra money making live performances as the Frankenstein monster with a plastic mask on doing his trademarked "Errrrhrrr" walking around like a stiff with his hands in front of him then choking some Italian extras.
Boris Karloff must have wanted some extra cash for him to make this clunker. The amateurish acting, poor dubbing, overly dramatic film score, and ridiculous storyline certainly contributed. The only saving grace, Boris Karloff's appearance even though his voice was dubbed.
With maybe the exception of Karloff, fabulously bad acting, with aweful stiff poorly written brass with string theme music... but the band in the café wasn't too bad. Entirely predictable ending with the hero dog (who was even better then Karloff. Great fun !
To dub Karloff voice? They should’ve hired him. Karloff without that voice of his is wrong. And the little girls dubbing sounds like someone inhaled too much helium. I’m not insulting the one that uploaded this movie, it made me laugh. This is on the ones who made the movie, who are most likely long gone.
Did anyone on the island think it odd that a civilian on vacation got a ride on the local naval craft? Or is that common practice? And this guy at the club suggests "White Horse" as an alternate whiskey? Can you be any more obvious! He's talking about heroin. But maybe in 1954 the "narcotic lingo" was not that well known as it is today.
This has to be the worst Karloff movie I have ever seen. He doesn't even join the movie until 40 minutes in (except for a couple of minutes early on.) No 'monster' on Monster Island and what has to be the most annoying child voice ever recorded.
Boris Karloff was in quite a bit of stinkers too: I was shocked at how bad Bedlam & Isle of the Dead were. Zzzzz! I don't know which was the most effective insomnia terminator. Usually, I can watch him but these two are the worst for me cos he's not even remotely cute in those. Not even "monster cute". That wig. The accent! The curly hair. The sullen attitude and long face in IOTD. I just couldn't. Sorry if you like those.
Great Film - thank you. Again, a nosey stupid policeman's wife screws things up. When will they learn to keep their noses out? Admittedly, without this, quite a lot of the plot would have been lost.
