The Isle Evrima - Nightmare On Gateway - Update 7.5 - Pteranodon 

ptera is really tough right now and even more it's boring to play (stam and NV). but, it was a real bad day too. I have those days every now and then with many different dinos and even had them on spiro. one of those days where everything you do goes wrong somehow

yeah, ptera is really messed up right now. when I found the fish at the river delta, I stayed in this area for about an hour. as long as you don't move too far, the stam is acceptable. but, as soon as you have to travel you are in trouble. gateway is an up and down map with many heights to get over and prey in the next valley (so you have to fly down). ptera needs too much stam to get height and you end up sitting most of the time. even worse is the NV to me tho. so many moments where you see exactly nothing but your bird. no idea if a cliff is upcoming, if you are already over the ocean or anything. I can't imagine anyone who enjoys those black screens :/

yeah, ptera is really rough to play at the moment. I hope they will change the stam at least a little and mostly that useless NV. you can't see anything as soon as you fly. it's so annoying. even more it's ridiculous that we have to flee from little pteros. I wish every dino had an opportunity to bite upwards. to be able to strike back properly :/ like you said, without stam it's pretty much impossible ^^

@@quarreneverett4767 if you are new to the game, then I have a good advice in terms of development. they change the stats of each dino all the time. almost with every update. many people often go crazy if their most beloved dino gets nerfed. don't go crazy. it isn't worth it. the next update can change everything again anyway. best example is omni. it was super strong, got super weak, and now it's pretty strong again. so, don't let yourself dragged into all the cry babies within the community. this game will take many more years to be finished. patience is they key to don't go mad about it on the long run

nice to hear you enjoy PoT at least. the Ai got better tho, at least boars and deer. fish seems to be rare tho. in general I understand your feelings and I also hope they will change things to the better soon

it's quite tough to play ptera right now. but, this was also a crazy unlucky session. I didn't even show the many server crashes. I had about 5 server and 4 PC crashes within those 6ish hours. Animaguz also had two PC crash and two server crash. every time I found a spot with fish, the server crashed and the fish were gone ^^ to just find other female for 4 hours was very unlucky, too. also, I had a very good diet almost ALL the time, beside the one moment I actually met a male ^^ it was a cursed session

ptera is really tough right now. the stam is very annoying in many situations. like when you search others, food, a nest place or do the nest itself. they really have to change ptera's stam. at least a little :/

​@@AaronDavis-zg8cp tbh, I get the direction they are going. the old stam was too much. run/pounce/swing like crazy, sit for some seconds and go again was too much. but, this is quite the opposite. so, something in the middle would be nice

@@da.mombie I agree. For the small and the smaller med tier one this stam system is more punishing than fun to manage. Galli is a road runner god damnit and not a sitting duck in the bushes! And let us not begin to talk about nightvision for a flyer that has to rely on sight to actually navigate XD I uninstalled the game and will only turn back, when changes happened.

@@Chareidos I totally understand. the game also doesn't run away. changes will come and you can return anytime. I'm also sure they will change some of those things again. they almost have to, as I don't think anyone enjoys ptera's (or some others) night vision or stam :/

ptera is really tough. the many stam breaks and black screen during the night makes it quite annoying to play right now :/ thx, yeah, I totally underestimated the amount of time till it swallows. I saw the cera and was like, uhm, np, we've enough time to start. then I pressed space, and pressed again and suddenly I was like, jeez, eat, run, fly, omg!

Cant play rn since my PC is broken but I would like to ask why is the game unplayable? Was the last patch even worse than those before? :D

after all it's still a game where you have to make a compromise. I don't always agree with their idea of how to play a certain dino, but, in general I don't mind too much either :/

thx mate ♥ I just watched the video, but, it won't help much. this mate optimized the travel from A to B. but, that's no normal gameplay. if you nest in a tree and have to get sticks from the ground, then you still can only pick about 3 sticks before you have to sit 5 minutes again. no matter if you use space or look up with w. there is no difference in height between these methods. it's just the distance which becomes longer if you look up and hold w. the problem are the 5 minutes sitting in between. if you watch jjfajen video and calculate the time which was shown including the 5 times speed (at parts), then you see 10 minutes gameplay. so, 10 minutes gameplay = 5 minutes sitting even if you optimize your way.

@@da.mombie 100% true there needs to be a balance with the different dinos I saw a video that the devs were in saying they not going to change it because people don't need to run everywhere but the pt it is just impossible to do hunting when you so low I keep dying because I have to wait for Stam

@@Stella4kk well, luckily the devs say a lot of things, so, there is still hope if no one plays ptera anymore, then they will change it. if people keep playing ptera, then it's probably us but, I still think they will adapt it at some point.

it depends. right now AI is all over the map. I saw so many boar and deer herds. I even saw a herd of 8 deer yesterday. fish seems to be rare. probably 'cause deinos eat them :/ but, since the last patch it feels like AI spawn quite a lot

did they? I didn't play today, so, can't say. but yeah, let's hope they give at least a little stam back

people told me they spawn for a short period after a server restart and the server crashed quite often that day. so, maybe that's why

they must have changed the AI, 'cause I saw deer and boars all over the isle. specially the delta river was full of them, beside no other players around. so, this AI spawns just beside players thing is either a story of them or it's bugged like crazy ^^ well, if you play regional, then ptera is quite nice to play. the problem is, you need to find a place with food, a mate, pack or whatever you are looking for first. here comes the big downside. ptera needs so much stam on gateway. 'cause it's a constant up and down landscape which consumes a lot of stam to travel. that said, you can reach the swamp from the water access without having to land once. so, if you glide down this river, everything is fine. as soon as you want to leave the coast again tho, it's getting annoying with the stam. same when you look for sticks for the nest, prey or other pteras. to travel is really quite boring with ptera at the moment. also the NV is just bad. it's way too dark in my opinion. so, after all, ptera is quite a up and down right now :/

@@da.mombie Yeah, that's what I figured about ptera. Might still try it for myself later. Didn't want to waste an evening for lame experience. Birbs are meant to be free and fly around! Not be grounded for 5 minutes to restam every time! I can hear pteras a lot, but rarely see them 'cause I guess they are always resting P.S.: Excuse my walls of text. If I type more than 2 msg in a century, some of them get disappeared...

personally I didn't see a turtle so far. others told me they saw one. not often, but they were seen I got an beipi egg today and at the delta river were many crabs (to dig for). at those rivers are also always frogs at some spots. fish are broken right now as you mentioned already. well, these are things which are annoying, but, I don't mind them much. 'cause, it's just a thing of bugs and balance. which can and will be fixed. my bigger problem is the NV. on their roadmap they say feature complete. or much more, final nightvision complete. that's something that makes me worry. if THIS is the final night vision, then I am not happy at all. 'cause it's the most boring and unrealistic NV I can imagine. others may like it, the devs may like it, but to me, it's nothing but disappointing.

@@da.mombieAs Bepi, we spawned at Water Access. Went to that affore mentioned pond by the Sanctuary and left at 70% or similar. Our migration was at Swamp. Between that pond and Delta, between the two of us, we found ONE frog. Nothing else. NO vegies to eat. No crabs to dig for. Nothing. I even killed a boar in the hope that I might be able to get some _"non diet food"._ We couldn't eat it. We both died in the Delta area without even getting to the migration zone. I don't know anyone who likes the current darkness in the game. Constantly having to use NV even in the day because it's so damn dark. IN a 24 hour cycle, it's _REAL_ night time for 12 hours, daylight for 12. But of those 12 hours in day light, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening are suitable for NV only. That leave 8 hours of daylight. And 9/10, 6 of those hours are so dark, you need NV on because you can't see even an 8 ton deino creeping up on you in the grass if it's using dark skin colours. So for 24 hours, 2 are OK for non NV use. But you think, _"No point turning it off as it'll be dark soon."_ So you're constantly playing with NV on.

I am using NV for about 80% of the day. as soon as the sky is cloudy, you need NV. which is ridiculous. so many nice skins and you see them grayish for most of the time. it's such a shame. well, we've been 5 beipis. maybe that's why more crabs spawned :/

I was shocked looking on the road map recently. it says night vision is feature complete. this shall be the final version. I can't believe it and really hope they will further adapt it, 'cause right now it's the most boring, ugly and nonfunctional night vision I ever had in any game I played. you could do so much with night vision. bring in so many elements which are stunning, creepy and yet useful. you can do almost everything. some geckos can even see colors at night! so, you could even give some dinos a colorful night vision. just with less intensity or so. therefore, you can do everything from black to colorful in the range from visual to thermal. they want it realistic, but, they think realism is the human eye. which is nonsense. just because a human can't see at night, doesn't mean dinos couldn't. and even if, it's a game and I want to enjoy the beauty of it instead of watching a black screen.

I can't say much about the new stam update by now. just played about an hour omni so far. but, I LOVE at least one change. we get stam back while trotting again. something which annoyed me the most, to always have to slow walk to get stam back. to me personally, that's a huge and very nice change. I was very happy about it. BUT, unfortunately this doesn't effect ptera much :/

thx ♥ but, I didn't say it's hard to play ptera it was a nightmare session. I had these kind of sessions with other dinos, too, I also had them on spiro. one of those days where nothing works out. I wanted to nest and was looking 5 hours to find 2 female first and when I finally found a male, my diet was down. even if I had a great diet for almost all of those 5 hours. then we tried to get on diet and the server crashed. then our community mate helped me out and it took another 2 hours to finally start building the nest. 'cause of death and 'cause of about 8 server and/or game crashes me and me mate had in total that day. when we finally built the nest and had enough food around, I got stuck ^^ this was my nightmare I still have problems with ptera's gameplay tho. first of all the night vision is awful and makes the night boring. not frightening, not suspense, not nice, just boring. ptera at night is the most boring dino at the moment in my opinion. I also don't like the less stam. I don't mind the stam change in general. I even like it more than the old system for the most part. but, it has to be further adapted and in special for ptera's stam in terms of getting height. I don't like the places like northeast much. every now and then they are fine, but, in general they are like northwest on spiro. which I also didn't favor. I like to move around a litte. ptera needs stam for heights and gateway is an up and down map. which ends in many times just sitting around and waiting for stam. which is also quite boring in my opinion.

@@da.mombie I'm completly right with all your points, stam for all dinos but especially for ptera and herrera is awful. night vision is catastrophic too And the speed you getting thirsty or starving is way to fast for most of dinos. it is worse for deinos, because there is no fish most of them have to kill each other to survive. And no one can travel the map otherwise they get alone and starve for sure In my opinion they need to change the hunger system, in real life animals can survive many days (months for crocs) without dying. They should be inspired of that and get the player a lot of malus when they get empty stomac, like low stam, low speed, less bite force, get skinny look etc etc instead of dying that fast

@@Jerewie I love to play patient. I often fail to stay patient in battle, but, in general I play more relaxed. I love to cross the map and wait for a good opportunity. to have a good fight vs a challenging enemy. or meet a nice/funny mate to mess around with. that's what I love the most. but, you don't find those encounters at the northeast. these areas are overpopulated by all the aggros. herbs vs herbs, mixpacker vs solo player, backstabber and herbs which ambush bodies ^^ it's fun every now and then, but, on the long run pretty boring. I had my best moments mostly outside of these hotspots. but, to cross the map and be able to have such encounters, you need food. whatever there is enough AI or like you mentioned the water/food doesn't drop so fast, I don't mind, I just want to be able to cross the map a little

if you spawn northeast and follow the river which starts at the lake, then you can't miss it. it's a lovey place and has even quite some food for pteras. like frogs, goats and sometimes fish

if I fly low, then I can hear them pretty well. as soon as I heard them I start to circle the area until I spot them.

I was questioning myself 'cause people told me that I shall eat the little fish before I starve beneath my last deino video. I didn't even think those tiny fish are eatable as adult deino. but, people said you can almost fill a third of your belly with a swarm of schooling fish. so, I thought probably many deinos are doing it and that's why there are so less fish around so they are bugged. surprise surprise thx for the hint ♥ goats are also very useful

@@da.mombie Yeah new year didnt start very well for Isle and AIs. We all hoping they fix it soon! And yea I also recently discovered that you can eat small fish as deino just to not die from starve. But I think this AI problem last weeks is the main reason we dont see that often full adult deinos anymore. at least not that many

@@Fapstronaut the whole AI system is quite a mess since the last update. they changed the system and it's (as usual) bugged at the start. I hope the next few updates will make gateway more enjoyable for everyone

danke, das ist mal eine gute nachricht. aber dicke stelle? gibt es überhaupt einen dickeren ast als jenen auf dem ich war? egal, ich werd es nächstes mal länger probieren war ehrlich gesagt mit den nerven schon ein wenig am ende an diesem punkt abgesehen davon dass ptera sowieso gerade ein wenig nervig ist (stam und nachtsicht), war es einfach eine grausige session. es waren so viele server und PC abstürze. hab ja nicht mal die hälfte gezeigt. kaum fand ich fisch, server restart und kein fisch mehr an dieser stelle. 2x PC crash incl. bein crash beim wieder in spiel kommen usw. ^^ war einfach nicht mein tag

nein der war dick genug, aber du must halt einen Punkt erwischen wo du mehr oder weniger so eine Kreuz Gabelung hast =/, oder ich bin blöd und sie haben es mittlerweile raus gepatched, dann tut es mir leid, aber ich habe Nester in Bäumen gesehen. Ja Stam kann ich noch mit leben und die Nachsicht bei nicht klarer Nacht oder im Jungle sind Flüge teilweise tödlich =/ zum kotzen, aber hoffen dass Sie es ändern. Und ich habe es in deinem Video gesehen, das war sehr unglücklich, aber nicht aufgeben, ich mg deine Videos sehr und konnte viel von dir lernen, danke dafür@@da.mombie

servus oda seas wia ma bei mia sogt ja, ptera ist echt ein krampf im moment. das ganze spiel ist gerade ein krampf. ich liebe gateway und die updates in bezug auf den inhalte, aber technisch sind sie gerade nicht so prickelnd. hoffen wir also künftige updates mögen auch wieder technische verbesserungen bringen

in meinen augen ist dass das problem. die leute haben mir erzählt dass selbst ein großer deino ca. 5%(oder so ähnlich) pro kleinen fisch bekommt. man kann also mit einem schwarm fast ein drittel des magens füllen. da kaum große fische da sind, überleben viele mit den winzigen fischen. da frisst aber ein adult gleich mal den ganzen schwarm bzw. mehrere. der lange respawn timer tut dann sein übriges ^^ in meinen augen sollten mehr große fische spawnen und die kleinen sollte ein deino erst gar nicht fangen können :/

@@da.mombie Ich glaube der Spawntimer selbst oder allein ist nich mal so sehr das problem, sondern dass überall sonst so gut wie keine Fische spawnen und das neue spawn system dazu führt, das dort wo spieler sind, unverhältnismäßig mehr AI gespawned wird und so ein feedback loop meist um NE entsteht. Da findet man erstaunlicher weise, so meine letzten Erfahrungen dann immer Fisch Schwärme, wenn die nich auch gerade weg gefuttert wurden. Spiele seit über ner Woche nicht mehr wegen dem ganzen hick hack mit den viel zu vielen nicht vollwertig entwickelten features.

@@Chareidos zur zeit ist es echt ein krampf. ohne die videos würde ich wohl auch pausieren. teilweise ist es wirklich anstrengend material zusammen zu bekommen. aber naja, jammer hilft nix und hoffen wir die fixen das. das beste ist ja, jemand hat mir gesagt die neue AI wäre um ressourcen zu schonen. also dass nicht 100 AI irgendwo rumlaufen wo eh keiner ist. nun hab ich aber bei petits server gelesen, dass sie große probleme mit der performance haben und die devs ihnen geschrieben haben die neue AI sei nun mal sehr ressourcenhungrig. manchmal frag ich mich schon

ptera is really bad to play at the moment. the stam is something I could deal with, but, the night vision is nothing but annoying. I wouldn't agree that the games is getting worse tho. in my opinion it is getting better and better. it even made huge steps withing the last 2 years. the problems right now are just the normal ups and downs in development. some updates are better some worse. I played many alpha games and this is just business as usual to me compared to the dayz alpha it makes huge steps, compared to the ark alpha it makes small steps. but, ark had some very bad updates during the alpha status, too :/

@@da.mombie How about the constant stuttering and random fps drops? I didn't have this issue before Gateway unless I'm in center. Now, even if I'm playing alone in an empty server, I get stutters every 15 seconds. Optimization is certainly not getting better. Bugs that didn't exist before, exist now. I'm having less fun in Gateway than Evrima 6.5. The ai not spawning is a new issue that I didn't see before too where starvation kills you more than predators.

@@Hakou27000DZ I hate that stuttering and have it since they switched to unreal engine 5. it's really annoying and one of the technical issues they really should address more properly. the AI spawning is also an technical issue, but, this one came with the new spawn system. so, it's normal that it is bugged as it is also normal to get new bugs with every update. that's part of the development and happens in every alpha. much more I don't like how long it takes to get rid of bugs again. some food bugs are around since update 4 :/

as far as I read, they will give ptera some love in terms of stam at the next update. the AI is a part of the game which will be further developed anyway. it's very far from perfect or being close to final. personally I didn't see any turtle for many months. if people wouldn't tell me they found a turtle every now and then, I would think it's out of the game right now ^^ but, new small AI is on the way to the game. like snakes, insects, rats and so on. those should be suitable for ptera. how they will spawn tho? we have to see I guess
