The Isley Brothers have been making hits for years. This song is very powerful and possibly a story for some people. I've been married for 24 years and I couldn't imagine my life without my beautiful bride. Young people today don't understand that this is what Real music is about.
He started off the song by thanking his lady for being with him, that's real love. Babyface is a underappreciated genius and Ron's vocal ability is underappreciated. He makes you believe what he's saying by singing with feeling.
This song is also about a present love so it’s not necessarily sad for everyone. For me, this song celebrates our 30 year beautiful marriage! Thank you Jesus! My husband cries because of our love and gratitude to God for me and for me loving him unconditionally!!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
absolutely phenomenal. Ron Isley did this. I drive 18 wheelers...from Houston to Dallas. One particular day, I listened to this song for 2.5 hours. This song has so much meaning. It reminds me of the passing of my grandmother. Annie Whitsey (my grandmother), is sleeping the long sleep. May the Lord Jesus Christ rest her soul. Isley, just simply beautiful.
E Kell ,this was my first time listen to this song it had me in tears beautiful song had me thinking about my love i miss him so much..... #ripleeiloveu
First, she doesn't die, at the end of the song she recovers. I have never thought about a dead person on this song, I have always thought of this as a love song in the way a man/woman love each other, that deep forreal love, the kind that does not exist anymore.
This song embody everything my late husband was to me. He was my best friend. He Fred Simari loved me unconditional. He taught me how to trust and love. God I miss him. God blessed me and my family with him.
It’s reminds me of the day an aneurysm burst in my head. My fiancé walk through the door at that moment. After emergency brain surgery they didn’t think I would survive. It’s been 11 years and he’s still by my side♥️
Mannnnnnnnn!! Why won't we just do right by each other. Life isn't promise only death is & No one knows when it will come knocking to collect.. Be blessed everyone!!!!
What I liked about this video was how after he found that tragedy hit his life, He went to the chapel and prayed for her, In thus day and time, we have few men know how to intercede for their woman or wife, Ronald is teaching and singing, not to macho, not to cry. Real pain won't let you hold it. Keep on living. Lady V
I remember listening to this beautiful song the day my husband was shipped off for a two year tour in Egypt we had just got married. I played this song all the way back to my home in Geneva Ga, I cried all the way back home in Georgia from North Carolina. I’m so glad GOD brought him back home to me safely, this song is always in my play list on January 10 2022 we have been married for 25 years and we are still in love with each other. I thank GOD for blessings me with a husband that was a keeper. We love this song.
Nobody gives them the credit but the Isley brothers are the best R&B group of all time. If you say no, I challenge anyone to check how long they've been making hits. And not just hits but CLASSIC HITS.
😭😭😭😭😭🥲 miss you daddy and aunty 💔💔 I went to child birth pain ( temporary) I went tooth ache / extraction pain( temporary) BUT the worst pain is loosing a loved one ( permanently) … no pill can numb this pain
This song will make you do one of 2 things... 1) Mourn a loss of life uncontrollably due to what was never said. 2) Remember the best times with someone who was lost knowing you did all that you could to let them know what they meant to you. Its up to you...
Ron Isley, Babyface, and R. Kelly REALLY know how to make you feel the words of the song. Bringing out true emotions and feelings. Those guys are unbelievable with their songs and music that have blessed us with. Thank you. Not Good Music but AMAZING music
Nothing has changed. The industry has dictated the music trends. It's also up to the artists. Every decade seems to say that men in prior decades weren't afraid to express themselves, especially 1970s R&B music. Again, nothing has changed. It depends on if artists and producers choose to create that type of music. Songs became more sexually explicit as the years passed, and song content changed, but good, new music is still around if you look for it. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
Aside from this beautifully sad vid... this would also make an exceptional song on someone's wedding day... He's showing how grateful he is for her loving and understanding him through his good and bad times....Her strength and adding so much to him as a person...Definitely a tear jerker...I was a teen when this came out...loved it then and even more now... So glad that I found this JEWEL.... The groom along with his bride will definitely have a good cry that day..
My Husband just presented Me with this Beautiful Song today…. I couldn’t stop crying especially because My Husband has been suffering big time these last 17 day’s like NO OTHER PAIN and I’ve been right here by his side to hold him up to take away the hurt so he doesn’t have too take unwanted calls personal stuff and I guess this is his way of THANKING ME AND SHOWING ME LOVE💕
+Jamaican Queen Hi...Ronald is my second favorite male singer. My first is Teddy Pendergrass & those two voices put me in the mood to make almost any woman feel like a: Jamaican Queen.
One of my fav songs from the legendary Isley Brothers. I love how Baby Face is singing on the hook "although a man's not suppose to cry" in the background
This is definitely one of the most beautiful songs that the Isleys have ever recorded! Loved the collaboration of Burt Bacharach and Ronald Isley! Ronald Isley is one of the most prolific voices in the history of music! There's no one that can sing like Ronald Isley!!!
Lost the love of my life recently and was numb for days. Then this song played and it freed me to let go and cry.I needed to release the hurt, and pain.I have heard this song a million times, but never heard it like that day.
I lost my wife 4 years we were together for 26 years and I can't hold back my tears either I miss her so very much I really do I cry a lot and I pray God keep me because one day I think I will see her again
One of the greatest songs Ron Isley ever did in his music career in the Industry 💯 it's just pure gold 🪙💛🌟✨💫 🙌🏾🙏🏾 Thanks You So Much For Songs Like This The Godfather Of R&B Soul!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever the Isley Brothers do they put that true feeling into it at a super high level. Other groups just can't touch them in a real love song . They are overachievers that reach there goals in every recording that just hit the top charts of the music business. The best on the block of Love Music.-------Dunmore Music of Monee IL.
This was a great album filled with great love songs.Babyface wrote this one and it sounds like a song he would sing and you can hear him singing the part " altho a mans not supposed to cry"
When my friend and a brother played this song during his wife's funeral 4years ago, I never thought I'd ever listen to it ever anymore. May her beautiful soul RIP

❤️ Thank you, baby For the years you've given me For each beat of my heart For every breath I breathe Thank you, sweetie For the best times of my life Through the good, through the bad You were always by my side I never thought I meet someone Who loves unselfishly But I appreciate the way you loved And sacrificed for me I can't hold back these tears Let me cry (although a man's not suppose to cry) If I hold back my tears I'll just die (you've given so much to my life) Thank you, lady For the joy you bring to life When I thought all was lost and gone You brought hope back in sight Thank you, honey For being my best friend When I thought no one understood You would always understand I used to think that I knew love And what true love should mean Now I know that I did not know much 'Cause you taught me everything I can't hold back these tears Let me cry (although a man's not suppose to cry) If I hold back my tears I'll just die (you've given so much to my life) God so loved the world That he blessed us all with you And then he gave me a heart Now I'm giving it to you And these tears I cry are tears of joy My happiness, I do rejoice In the love you give unselfishly Your constant sacrifice for me I can't hold back these tears Let me cry (although a man's not suppose to cry) If I hold back my tears I'll just die (you've given so much to my life)

This song is the epitome of what real music should be. Baby Face, the consummate lyricist Combined with Ron's angelic yet powerful performance put this song in a league of it's own. The emotion, sadness, sweet pain penetrates my heart and floods my soul. each time I listen to it.
A true loved song. Every moment of true Love was captured in every word, note, tone, and emotions. Mannn. This how true love must feep, especially after that one may had passed away or left leaving your heart broken.
Been enjoying the music from the brothers for more than 50yrs I know I can't be the only 1 who appreciates the depth and longevity of their musical creativity.
I lost my wife three years ago. Thank you Hattie for the best years of my life. I miss her so much. Thank you Isley brothers for such a wonderful song. Let me cry.
I was crying within 5 seconds of this song. It's been 16 years since my mother past from a car accident. Not a day goes by I dnt miss her. These words touched my heart so deeply. Love u mom. RIP Doris G.
My late brother who introduced to RnB in the early 90's used to love this song and each time I think of him, would come here and listen to this song.......
My sister danced to this song during our Mothers funeral, everytime I listen to this song, all I can recall is my elder brother wailing for our mother,. There's no greater pain like than off losing a mother. A mothers love remains unmatched!!!
