There is unfortunately no spiritual inoculation against cruelty. the holocaust was not a "teachable moment." a population can experience unimaginable and senseless inhumanity and still inflict it on others. there is nothing morally cleansing about hardship.
When you look at the stories told by the “survivors”, you become skeptical. A woman really swallowed 5 diamonds each day and retrieved them from the latrine for a year and never got sick or suffered internal injuries? She also claimed she was subjected to Dr. Mengele’s experiments. Didn’t he ever wonder why she was always sick or injured? Another woman claimed she was sent to the gas chamber but it ran out of gas and only knew it was a gas chamber because somebody later told her it was? These are not exceptional cases.

The rest there should be a mechanism with the international community to put peace keeping, force in the new Palestinian State with its independent borders. They also don’t tell us about the vibrant community + culture of Gaza btwn 2006- Oct 2023 developed outside of the Hamas narrative.
