The Second Italo-Ethiopian War took place in 1935-1936 between Italy and Ethiopia. This conflict was caused by Italy's desire to increase its colonial holdings in Africa. The war lasted about a year and ended in an Italian victory. As a result of the war, Ethiopia lost its independence and became a colony of Italy.
This conflict was one example of how European powers used their military might to enslave African peoples. The war also resulted in many Ethiopian casualties and destruction of the country's infrastructure.
The Second Italo-Ethiopian sparked international condemnation, and the League of Nations imposed economic sanctions against Italy. However, the sanctions did not have a major impact on Italy and the war continued until Italy achieved its goals.
The victory in this war was a true "African Triumph" for Benito Mussolini. The 40-year shame of the lost battle of Adua was washed away. And the power of the Fascists in Italy was significantly strengthened, which later became the prelude to the beginning of World War II....
