The definition I give to the J-7E is The Useless Diamond and The Jenitor Fighter. It have a very good airframe and really good Missiles but for me it have very little game impact in a match and your role is pretty much to mop up the left over. Still very good plane tho probably the best 11.0 performance wise. Also if you look for some premium jet to grind Chinese tech tree try the A-5C. It essentially the Mig-19 but havier and have a very good missile at 10.0. it can almost every jet at 9.7-10.3 with the energy retention. Very good jet to grind Chinese tech tree.(and you can use the F-5E or J-7E to grind the rest of the tree)
People tend to understand estimate a5c players who dogfight too because the average player is bombing in them. I don't know if it's Stockholm syndrome but my aim is really solid with those terrible 23mm
There is actually a later variant of this jet that I really hoped they can bring it into the game one day. J-7G. It is basically a J-7E but even more modernized. It got an usable PD radar, HMD, HOTAS and big screen MFDs. Instead they gave the nobody asked J-7D.
@@JundRaptor Not sure if there's another even better equipped J-7 variant ever build. There are several variant that should be more advanced but never put into production like the side intake J-7CP, collaborated with Grumman Super 7, or the bottom intake J-7MF.
@@TigerOwO Looked it up and apparently the most advanced J-7 is actually their domestic J-7G2, which is upgraded from their Bangladesh export F-7BGI. Functionally it has a stronger radar and can use CFTs compared to the BGI. In game the radar will only be marginally useful since I can't find any evidence that the J-7G2s can use BVR missiles. With an HMD and PL-9s it'll probably be 11.7 br max.
This is one of those planes that if you know... you know. Most people look at it and say "Oh it's just a Chinese MiG-21" By that logic the Su-57 is just a Russian F-22. The KF-21 is just a Korean F-22... you get the point.
I don't know if it changed but afaik the realShatter nerf doesn't apply to APHE. So the APHE rounds will do a lot more damage. I pretty much run ground belts for all my high tier jets these days.
@@GeneralLee2000 I just checked in the armor viewer and APHE still has 15+ fragments while HE has the nerfed realShatter 1-5 fragments. Intentional or not it was a nerf towards nations who don't have APHE in their ground belts.
There’s the J-7E video I was expecting. Idk if you remember but I was that F-14 on the city map that you obliterated with a PL-5B. Really want to grind this thing out but the A-5C I’ve been using is so brainlessly boring.

Gaijin really should of sold the F-7PG instead of the J-7D. I really don't know that Gaijin was thinking selling the J-7D at 11.0 for $70. I just feel bad for anyone who buys that plane.
Its not that bad, i really like the j7d, the flight performance isnt the best at the br, but you still can turn with alot of planes you see, and the combo of the magic's and pl5s is amazing
@@T3hRogue you get a 10.3 airframe with rear aspect only missiles fighting F-16s. The J-7E pulls it off because it has incredible performance. The D feels horrid, and it's even worse considering how stupidly easy the A-5C is to grind in.
To think Chinese made a better wing for an interceptor and made it into a proper dogfighter. Why don't all nations whenever they think of using delta wings, they try using double deltas?
I'm taking a break from the game, but man, do I want the J-7E tho xd. I've been grinding Germany and MiG-21MF was the most fun to fly for me, even though it has it's drawbacks. But, as someone who won't spend a fucking dime on the game, the grind is atrocious and I have to remember that to avoid the game, lmao. The grind is atrocious. I'm happy you posted this video, I'm currently grinding out the Chinese tree and am about to get the J-7II, which I'm actually looking forward too. However, yesterday I was looking ahead in the line and saw the J-7E and thought, wow, only 60 rounds and rear aspect missiles at 11.0? Meh. But watching this video, I'm looking forward to it. I don't see the J-7E often, but I enjoy aircraft like the F-5E and the F-16, so I think I'll love it!
3:00 it depends on what aircraft you hit and what part of the aircraft you hit. The problem is not with guns but with damage models overall. For instance, the F-16 has literally paper wings irl (basically that’s the reason why irl it can’t pull more than 10deg of AoA at speed more than 700kph - the wing just snaps), its wing is very thin and has not so many longerons inside the wing so if it gets hit by a single 30mil HE irl it will start living its own life somewhere apart from the plane but in the game F-16’s and other planes with similar thin wings such as the MiG-21, J-7, F-5 can survive multiple hits on the wings Rn there’s the only gun in the game that actually does somewhat realistic damage - it’s French 30mil DEFA
i really never survived "multiple hits" on F-16 or F-5. MiG21s can take a load of punishment and survive enough to return to airfield. The F-5 is no longer the absolute tank it was, I remember when I got it my very first games I would bring the bomb and shoot while dropping it to bomb people mid air, it went from just a yellow belly to losing some part to eventually blowing up. When the F16 came out it was extremely hard to kill it. And I don't think that f16 wings are fragile. AOA and high energy retention in maneuvers don't usually go hand in hand. The F-16 had little angle of attack to increase energy retention at medium high speed while keeping the envelope of flight controlled while also conserving turn rates constant within each speed intervals. Modern aircraft have been designed to have almost constant maneuverability values, like 270 degrees per second of roll rate at 400kmh and 240 degrees per second of roll rate at 1200kmh, 24 degrees per second of turn rate at 500kmh on the deck, and 22 degrees per second at 1000kmh on the deck.
@@kingghidorah8106 you’re partially right and partially wrong. You’re right about energy retention and AoA correlation but still its wing is really fragile. It can roll exceptionally well due to its high aspect ration of the wing which increases resistance to transverse overloads. There’re diagrams for the F-16 (for the A one I believe), one is for max overload that shows that starting form 700kph in turns with more than 10deg of AoA the wing is damaging and in turns with more than 15deg the wing is falling apart (literally) And the other one is for high AoA performance of the plane that shows why there’s a limiter irl. That diagram shows that at 25deg of AoA and higher (25-50deg) the F-16 enters “deep stall” state and in this state elevators don’t work at all cause at these angles there’s no air flow pushing on them and also because the plane is aerodynamically unstable it can’t recover by itself. So once the plane reaches these angles it will keep holding these angles with almost 0 chances to recover until it’s completely stalled. And here we are with the F-16A in the game that pulls 28deg of AoA at 500kph and less aaaand nothing happens I’m sorry, this “topic” could be about the J-7 and in this case about guns and damage models and I opened acan of worms that is the FM’s in our beloved game :D
man I was just flying around and enjoying this thing 20 minutes ago and now I go on youtube and see you post a vid on it, its such a fun plane and it deserves way more attention than it actually gets
what sends me off so much is how people want the f-5e to go back to the BR of this thing while giving this thing Python 3s... china mains are delusional out of ten.
