In the Center of my hometown there used to be an old fashioned sweet shop facing a butchers and right next to them both was a pub, it was the most English scene imaginable. That was only in the 2000s, now, the butchers is one of those Pakistani fruit and veg places with the ghastly LED lights, the sweets shop is a vape shop and the pub is still there. The charm of the area has just completely evaporated.
I just remember those days I’m from Bradford a West Yorkshire, stone/cotton/wool mill town, you had library and swimming pool , and scouts and youthclubs and sports clubs in nearly every village, sweetshop ,barber, florist , green grocer, handyman shop , sewing repair shop, bakers , bicycle shop,and newsagents all beautifully sign written by hand in traditional classy font or English hand written style. Sad how it’s not the same just thankful we saw the tail end before the decline.
My tiny home town (the main town is roughly 1/4 of a mile long) now has 2 Turkish barbers and 2 vape shops where the butchers I got my first job at, a sweet shop, and a family-owned bakery used to stand. The heart of English towns has been so thoroughly and aggressively torn out that I don't think we wil ever see it again. The 'quaint English village' is destined to be resigned to black and white photos in old guide books. This has all taken place with the Tory's in power, and since C***d, mind you.
If you notice the elites never allow the same thing to happen to their towns. In America the most exclusive and expensive towns are ruthlessly maintained.
@@peteschaub7561 I always look at the street lights. If you go to the upper market areas of London you will find that they will have the old Victorian styled ones (Go to Sumner Place, London). A middle class area tends to have uniform LED street lights. Once you hit the poor areas have they have normally older fluorescent lamps/ and or mismatched sets with gaps. You can normally also apply this to housing. The elite seem to flock to the older Edwardian/Victorian housing while leaving the new stuff for the plebs.

When Morgoth gets to talking about the Rhine, it makes me think of Hadrians Wall and other ancient structures that we still have access to, and how they're being destroyed by the "new" people that have no appreciation or understanding of what they are or what they represent. It's just old stones from an old people to them.

46:46 is just disgusting. However I think there's an additional element to a specific situation like j mentions. I think a lot of younger people now would avoid funerals because they force you to confront something thats antithetical to what you're discussing; Anti materialist. Death brings up questions they don't want to be confronted with.
There is really something to the loss of enchantment within our society. I think much of what builds our moral character is stories. The modern interpretation of these classical epochs have been watered down or mocked into a cheap joke. I'd say the 90s-00s tried to replace the enchanted stories with more factual stories. The peak of this could be summarized by Dan Carlin's hardcore history podcast. But ultimately, these historical fact-based stories were just not enough to satisfy the human condition. I think this is why you see the average Millennial woman dive deep into astrology. It at least provides some enchantment, without the modern societal shaming of religion. There is also something to be said about the current regime's inability to fill this void of enchantment. Older regimes used to be good at this task but now they don't even try anymore.

Right wingers really hate tattoos huh? I think it's a class thing tbh. I'm a working class guy who was in the merchant marines for a long time and we're all tatted up. I got tattoos all the way down my right arm and chest and I like them. I guess if you have an office job it looks weird but I like the way it looks.
Its also a subculture thing. Sailors and soldiers have had tattoos for hundreds of years. Now roughly 40% of gen z women have tattoos, its lost its meaning and its cool.
@Vingul hey, what about soldiers? Especially the desert war vets, gotta have something to identify us after the IED. It is getting a bit ridiculous though, I grew up between the time of tattoos being on the outside and then suddenly they're absolutely acceptable and everyone has them. Now it seems the pendulum is going the other way again and tattoos are seen as more conformist and often as a placeholder for personality.
