I was thinking a lot about these specific lyrics and I think this quote sums it up really well: “If your mind carries a heavy burden of past, you will experience more of the same. The past perpetuates itself through lack of presence. The quality of your consciousness at this moment is what shapes the future.” ― Eckhart Tolle
Love the layers on this, chaotic and beautiful like a relationship, it takes patience to understand what is actually being said, but you feel it all the same
@@randomcreativename I honestly never had an issue with the chorus, I'm a fan of bon iver but moreso shoegaze, so I love intricatley interwoven sounds of all types
Am i the only one who loves the extreme distortion? lol Also the lyrics hit home like crazy, but i like how when i first listened i had no clue what the song was about. It made me focus on the feel/melody first. Then when i looked up the lyrics, it was like discovering the whole song over again.
seriously THIS SONG. it’s like an abstract and expensive treasure, what an art from amber and justin. honestly I can’t stop listening for this in two days, only repeating this song not listen to other song!! I really likes this so much
It’s so amazing that amber has done this collaboration because I remember reading how she is inspired by Bon Iver and the fact she has made it this far is so beautiful
When I listen to this, the reality is washed down. With the beautiful melody and her angelic voice, it's a good song to escape when someone's life is overloaded. Can't get enough of her musics. Amber is a genius.
Jonah NeSmith completely what i was thinking! his digital fingerprint is all over the production on the chorus specifically. then at the crescendo at the end where they blend? just wonderfully satisfying music to listen to!
After closing The Barbary, my buddy and I ran into The Japanese House, chilling outside their tour bus. They were so chill, sharing a few brews with us, and putting us on the list to see them in. NYC. So cool. Love this band.
LYRICS: Listenin' in on everybody else Talkin' about somethin' meaningless Wishin' that someone would film the way I'm lookin' at you right now I wanna watch it back and then kill myself And I know it's not very sexy when somebody loves you this much and knows you this well But it's the way it is And I sense it's not the best time to be tryin' to fuck with your head and diggin' up old ground So I squash it down Step on up Pay them no mind You're alone with this one And they're angry Well it won't do no good Together, with your problems, doll Live alone, willingly (Yeah) I've been thinkin' about my storyline And how your past becomes your present if it's always on your mind We played Dionne Warwick, "Walk On By" And Freddy put his head between his legs and cried Step on up Pay them no mind You're alone with this one And they're angry Well it won't do no good Together, with your problems, doll Live alone, willingly (Yeah) Listenin' in on everybody else Talkin' about somethin' meaningless Wishin' that someone would film the way I'm lookin' at you right now I wanna watch it back and then kill myself Step on up Pay them no mind You're alone with this one And they're angry Well it won't do no good Together, with your problems, doll Live alone, willingly (Yeah) Wishin' that someone would film the way I'm lookin' at you Wishin' that someone would film the way I'm lookin' at you Wishin' that someone would film the way I'm lookin' at you Film the way I'm lookin' at you Film the way, oh dear
its quite interesting when it enters the reff part, they make it distorted, and it feels like the real "step on up", like you have to do something immediately with courage and without hestitation, like a beautiful rage.
The concept of this song is so refreshing and unique. I bet none of us didn't guess that the distortion part was about to come and when we did, it was unexpected and unique as the whole song is.
This was my song of the year in apple music review 2022. I'm so proud of myself.!! I love this song so much that I listen to it every single day!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Just say,the feeling this song brought me is like...a process,a change of mind, and i am so impressed by how amber and justin show those in a song,so genius
I just rediscovered this song. Tears are just streaming down my face as I blast it into my ears. I feel like I’m in a box floating through space and it’s just very sad right now. It’s just very, very sad.
I discovered The Japanese House almost 3 years ago now and got obsessed with "Teeth". I'd spend every day listening to it, but I got busy with school and discovered other artists. Found this song in my Release Radar playlist, and I'm in love with Amber Bain's voice all over again.
Reeeeaaaaaally enjoying this one. The new EP is great especially this song here and Something Has to Change. But this one here is absolutely top of the line. Please make more of this 😘
Just recently started listening to this amazing band. Such beautiful comments previously! I can’t add much that hasn’t been said. However, the lyrics, music, and her voice are absolutely beautiful! I love this song and the band!
“wishing that someone could film the way i’m looking at you right now. i wanna watch it back, and then kill myself” by far my favorite lines from this song. a boy that i was falling in love with and I would mutually give each other this certain look when we had to leave each other after every time we hung out; our lips pursed and pouting with almost tearful eyes-not wanting to leave each other’s sides even just for the night. now that we’re no longer together and no longer on speaking terms, i wish i would’ve captured it in photo/film so i could watch it back over and over again to relive it. listening to this song almost memorializes that look and feeling.
