Sorry to Mark Olson for misspelling his name in the video text. Not Marc. There’s another musician named Marc Olsen, and I must of had my memory wires crossed when I typed that.
The intro and outro music are my (not great) cover versions of the Jayhawks songs Stick in the Mud and Sound of Lies. I didn't want to leave dead air for those parts of the video.
The video quality isn't great, and it isn’t a soundboard recording, but not bad for an iPhone 4 held by a fan who likely had a few too many beers by that point in the evening. I say this is rare because in 2012, smart phone tech/use wasn't what it is today, and it wasn't as common to see a bunch of fans holding up phones to record shows. Also, this was the first and only time the band played Victoria, BC, and I doubt there is any other footage of this gig out there. It was a very small, intimate nightclub, maybe less than 200 people.
I had completely forgotten about this video, but I recall the show. The Jayhawks are of my favourite bands of all time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did discovering it again.
