Hahaha. I remember buying backup albums some time ago. Even though I would have an original album, I also would have a backup. On those backup albums such as a greatest hits albums would sometimes appear maybe a song or two that I didn't know of or a song, live version, or collaboration that's wasn't anywhere to be found but on those albums. It's this type of thing that sends audiophiles on the path of collecting albums. Meanwhile, on top of buying those greatest hits albums, you may get good quality in sound, sometimes close to or even better than the original. I completely understand the hobby side of collecting from an audiophile's perspective.👍

You should definitely liste to "Sarah Vaughan - Laren Jazz Festival 1975" (CD or vinyl) from the French 2022 series "The Lost Recordings". The sound and the performance is right up there!

Yeah, you're right. Those albums like "War" weren't meant to be audiophile grade records? Their initial intent was to produce a party record! LOL!

Hard to argue with your top 3. I'm partial to Ella with Louis myself, because Pops is the man and Ella is the perfect complement to that gravelly voice. I have a couple Sarah Vaughan albums (CDs) but need to dig deeper. War is one of those bands where I like every song of theirs that I've heard but I know absolutely nothing about their deeper cuts. So much great music out there, too little time to hear it. ✌️

I’ve got the WAR analogue productions. It’s sounds awesome. If your into the longer version of songs just don’t buy it. Simple.

I wish they included the LP lengths of the songs instead of the single edits too as well as my personal favorite War song City Country City.

To @bf0189 : That song was to me the center piece of the album and is essential. But my favorite War song is The Seven Tin Soldiers, from the Galaxy album. The song has a longing beauty that still occasionally pops into my head 47 years later. It starts as a proud dignified march, then it seriously jams, and slowly ends questioningly and poignantly. It is the last song on the lp and seems so appropriate because it was the last of the classic War albums.

Hey Kenny. Have they released or announced any Joe Pass titles in the Pablo series (like maybe 'Virtuoso')? The RSD War box set from a couple of years back was a real treat for fans of this band, as it included their peak period albums. Sometime after that there was an RSD Eric Burden and War box set that covered the earlier stuff. Last year RSD did a box set of 'The World is a Ghetto'. I didn't go for that one, but I'd be interested in hearing anyone's take on it.

There are no Joe Pass Pable records in the first lot of 15 album, only Joe Pass as a guest on other albums. I do not know if he is going to be part of other releases in the future. I have some of his Pablo albums in my collection and "Virtuoso" is great 👍

I remember my first time coming across Sarah it was her vocals on Godley & Crème Consequences album and her performance blew me away. Loved her ever since but that performance on Consequences was and still is special to me.

I did dig into the Sarah Vaughn album you recommended in your description. I must say it's pretty good. I always try to give recommendations of albums that may have come out that same year or somewhere around the same era. Another album that came out around that same era or time period that you might want to checkout if you don't have the album already would be (The Magic is you) by Shirley Bassey. As I remember there might be a cover song or two but I could be wrong on the album? Enjoy.👍

@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews From that time period & probably even further back I think Shirley Bassey is one of the most understated female singers that people tend to overlook. Sarah Vaughn would be another.

Another vid, Kenny. With Chad's announcement, I got all my Pablo LPs together and found I had about 3 dozen, including several in his video. Not only do I have the Vaughn LPs you highlight, I also have the 6 LP box set of all her Pablos. I'd also recommend my faves: 1) Lee Wiley's early 50s "Night in Manhattan," either the 12" or 10;" Ella's two early 10" LPs on Decca with just Ellis Larkins on piano, reissued on a single CD and on 12" in the UK; and Shirley Horn's 1987 "All of Me" on CBS/Sony and 1988's "Softly" on George Buck's Audiophile label -- the former was recorded digital in NY, and is near impossible to find now, the latter all analogue at Mapleshade in Baltimore has recently been reissued twice on LP, most recently a two LP set at 45rpm.

War's Greatest Hits. Like any compilation, some tracks are either edited or the 45 single edits are used. I love War but I had no desire to spend so much on great music that is intentionally shortened and change album sides every 12 minutes. War albums on UA Records noisy vinyl are not great quality and I have a few on CD. The band's Avenue Records gold CDs are excellent but long out of print.

The WAR albums that I have sound fine but not on the level is the new release. I have some WAR CDs...I'm going to have to check them our soon. I appreciate your comments ✌️

The fact that shorter versions are used on War greatest hits analogue productions will keep me from buying it. I really love the original full versions too much, I never understand why they use short versions it makes no sense. ✌

Can't hear the fan:) Sarah is one of my favorites too. There is something that really bothers me though....Sarah, June Christy, Rose Mary Clooney, Joni Mitchell, Nat King Cole and many others had great singing voices and one thing in common; they destroyed their voices with that stinking smoking habit!!!!! Nat King Cole smoked because he thought it made his voice sound better....go figure. Ella and Doris Day's voices remained great because they didn't smoke. Listen to Sarah when she was in her 30's; beautiful voice with great range. The best example to me though is Joni Mitchell; she had a voice from God with a range nobody could top and she destroyed it! I just received and played the Alternate Blues album from Analogue Productions and it's great! If you have the original Pablos, I don't think you need the reissues because the originals sound fantastic. I have a bunch of the original Pablos; "88 Basie Street", Basie Jam, Count Basie Kansas City 7, Sarah Vaughan Send In The Clowns etc and they all sound so good! I may get the Sarah Vaughan. I always look forward to your next video!

Thank you very much for watching my video 😊. I think that the Dodgers can win the world series if they can solve their pitching problems. The Lakers can but they will probably have some problems getting past the Denver Nuggets. My Kings will have difficulty getting past teams like the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I alway hope that LA FC and the LA Galaxy have great seasons 😁
