doesnt momotaro use pink selvedge id? looks fantastic on black denim. i think tcb does a great job of reproducing the vintage stuff, sometimes too well, with that stupid paper patch. thats when common sense and logic has to step in and be like, "no, leather is just better, lets use that." being [too] pedantic is never a good thing.
@AlejandroJomar

I’m not entirely sure tbh, I’ve never got my hands on Momotaro at all. But yes I agree with the paper patch 😭😂 Cheers mate thank you for the support!

so how would that be reproduction? if it had a paper patch and you're reproducing those jeans then it needs a paper patch, i mean you change one thing and where does it stop?

I actually reckon tcb are great for doing things a little different but charging LESS! They are really well thought through, they are a paddock to plate as in they make their own denim. Special stuff

The TCB 20s use a goatskin leather patch, idk why they opted for a paper one on the 50s

Sugoy desu ne.!!! Japanese attention to detail is unmistakable. Being half Japanese and living in Japan and the US, I have been to TCB's shop and sewing facility in Okayama, Japan. I actually purchased TCB 20's which is a copy of a Levi's 1920 jean. It is is one of TCB's iconic models, inspired by the vintage from the days when people used to wear the jeans with a suspenders and a cinch back for the size adjustment. In fact, I am waiting on their newest release which they call the #2 jeans of the year 1890. FYI. If you order jeans in their website, shipping is actually free. Japanese made denim is FIRE :)

ジーンズはすてきです! TCB has been one of my main inspirations for my trip to Japan that I am taking next year! I am also actively teaching myself Japanese to be able to converse with TCB and other jeans makers while in Japan. Especially considering I plan on making Japan a frequent trip for myself, so I am excited to see the heart of Japanese denim, as well as learn the language 😁🔥 I have also purchased the 1890s jeans myself as well! I can’t wait to try them out! Thank you so much for the love and support on the video, my friend! 🙏🏽 ありがとございます! Also, I apologize if my spelling is wrong, I literally just learned Hiragana and am typing manually, haha!

I own the 1950 SLIM model which is actually perfect for my liking (slightly more tapered than the regular 1950). By far my fav raw denim and much cheaper than most others. Once you go TCB it is gonna be hard to go back to any other Japanese raw denim, there is something special about them

"Vintage idealism of what American tradition was" - never heard the r'n'r scene summed up so perfectly! TCB are an outstanding brand, although my preference is for their 60s cut, which I think is basically their take on Levi's 1966 501. Fantastic jeans. And I couldn't agree more with enjoying every stage of your jeans' lifespan. Never got on board with this rush to fade. That was a great video, thanks very much!

Got a pair of TCB 20s, and wow they are amazing. The suspender buttons definitely discourage me from wearing a belt, but the 20s have a back cinch so one isn't really needed.

We don’t want to believe it but selvedge jeans in the USA is a very very very small market

It’s the unfortunate truth my friend! The only brand to my knowledge that is made in the USA is Left Field NYC as well as the house brand of Williamsburg Garment Co. 😢😢 Do you know of any by chance?

Railcars fine goods, Imogene + willie, Raleigh denim workshop, 3sixteen, ginewusa, Freenote cloth, rouge territory and Brave Star selvage. All made in the US with Japanese or US selvage denim.

Thank you so so much for coming by the shop and for your kind words, Alejandro!! Always great to meet a fellow denim lover (and I appreciate the peer pressure 😅) Really enjoyed this insightful video and analysis on TCB's work-shoutout to Hajime and Ryo for their incredible repro work here. More TCB 50s coming to Williamsburg Garment Company soon for anyone in New York hoping to cop a pair (and 60s in stock now!)

Hey Alejandro! Thanks for another great video. I can't wait to get my legs into some brand new selvedge jeans. Up till now the selvdge jeans I have bought have all come from thrifting. And not at "resale" shops, but those big thrift stores. (I'm an actor, so currently brand new selvedge is out of the budget.). But I have found a couple of decent pairs. My first was a pair of Gustin jeans. They are very well made! They are too big in the waist. But I make it work. Such are the pitfalls of thrifting. My favorite pair I have are from G, by Guess. Made in China. They are nowhere near as detailed as the Gustins or Japanese selvedge. But they're nice all the same. But they are taking FOREVER to fade. They were probably washed more than they should have been. Anyway, keep these videos coming. Cheers!

Thank you so much my friend! Cheers to you and your acting career my friend. I’m surprised, but happy you were able to find selvedge denim second hand at reasonable prices! We need to get you a new pair though, we might have to start a GoFundMe for you my friend! 🙏🏽🔥

The roping you´re going to get is INSANE. TCB 50s denim is in my opinion the best for the vintage look. Nothing to envy the Osaka 5, which I of course respect, especially Warehouse and Denime. I know you´re a green cast man but I think this pair is going to become your red cast fave. Don´t shy away from washing them in due time and they will deliver in spades.

Thank you so much for the comment my friend! 🔥 I completely agree these have made me reconsider the green cast vs. red cast ideology. I still prefer and love green cast, but red cast isn’t so bad if I have a redcast like this one 😈🔥

TCB slim 50s. The original non-slim 50s have wider legs (as they should), if you want to go for a wider cut, then those would be great. They have afaik three variations of the slim 50s, with higher or lower rise or more tapered, you would have to check out that. The denim is the same in all of them and it is one of the best if not the best out there.@@lablaster2144
@Tomanot9Juanma
@Tomanot9Juanma 2 дня назад
@@lablaster2144 There are two versions of the TCB 50´s in slim cuts, one of them being higher rise than the other. You could check those out for a slimmer fit. The denim is the same.

@@AlejandroJomar I have the 40s and 50s and 2 50s blanket lined jackets from them, and the cats drive jeans on the way. I was super excited when I got them and I really wanted to wear them but decided to hold off until the indigo invitational. I got one of the jackets in the wrong size though, which is why I have 2. I love wearing the jeans though the level of detail is mind blowing without even considering the price.

Hello, first off - great video and love the channel, very happy to have found you! Would love if you could add more fit check b-roll footage, and comparing the fit to other jeans would have been so nice to see IMO.

Hey man, thank you so much for the love and the feedback! I’m glad you joined the ride with us 🙏🏽🔥 I love this feedback and will definitely take it into account. I’m usually a little hesitant myself with the fit check b roll because there is so much “empty space” on the sides as it’s difficult for me to get the full fit in frame without having all the extra stuff on the side. But if yall don’t mind that then I can absolutely add more 😃🫡

Ive been wearing my TCB 50s for about a year now, they are amazing jeans! One thing I’ll say, which is kind of weird, the fit has gotten more form fitting though washes. I wish they had remained as true straight as when I bought them. Still fantastic though!
@AlejandroJomar
@AlejandroJomar 8 месяцев назад
Hey man much love thank you so much for the comment! I’d definitely love to see or hear about how they turned out after washing and how they held up. When it comes to the fit, it may be because the jeans isn’t as rigid as it once was so it isn’t sitting the way it used to when it was starched up. Maybe try starching them out? Hope this helps my friend! 😁🙏🏽

As a kid from the 70's and 80's, back pockets arcuates does matters, so don't know why they put attention to stitching but pass that detail. I think that a fashion thing, but when you're inspire buy vintage classic, stay to the spirit. Iron Heart, Oni and Samourai among those that make it their own.
@thomashardy1851
@thomashardy1851 8 месяцев назад
They can't put those arcuates because they would get sued. The WW2 501s never had the arcuate anyway, just a painted one that would fade away after the first wash.
@stephan384
@stephan384 8 месяцев назад
@@thomashardy1851 Yes, they stop briefly during WW2 and came back in 1947 with the arcuates, and every other brands had their versions since then. But if a company and their clients wants to identify themself to the 1944 Levi's without arcuates... Did I mention The Strike Gold jeans, what a simple and nice design ;)
