I’m currently driving my second Raptor and was beyond geeked for the Bronco Raptor. That being said, Ford’s launch debacle and delivery timeframe (not entirely their fault, but still…) steered me toward the 392. My 392XR was finally built and loaded on a train this week; I hope to take delivery by mid Jan. Ford pushed me back to Jeep - this will be my 5th Wrangler and 9th Jeep overall. I can’t wait!
I would rather see Jeep come out with a twin turbo version of their 3.6L engine and put in the Wrangler. I have read how Chysler did intend to have a twin turbo from the Pentastar lineup of engines, HP would be around 350-400.
@@paladin11C40 There will be a new Stellantis turbo inline-6 engine that would probably come in twin-turbo variant as well. Not sure if it fits in the Wrangler but that engine will be used in all Dodge, Jeep and RAM products.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 This is what I found about that engine "the upcoming inline six-cylinder will be available in multiple power levels ranging from around 360 horsepower up to a high output version developing 525 horsepower. Our sources also tell us that the GME-T6 will feature FCA’s upcoming eBooster technology, which uses electronics to eliminate turbo lag. In theory, this would allow FCA to use larger turbos on the future engine for more top-end power while using the eBooster to fill in for the turbo lag associated with said larger turbochargers." I hope the 360 hp version goes in the Wrangler.
I am not sure why people think jeeps are hard to control. I had a two door with mud tires on it and I never had to fight to keep it tracking straight on the highway.
I’ve driven in many and they do drive really good. I also think it’s weird to complain about how it drives especially because it’s a wrangler and a rubicon which is all about off readings not taking corners at 50 lol
I drive a Rubicon every day and I have no issue, even in high winds, to keep it in lane. This guy is a bit dramatic. An inexpensive upgrade to the steering stabilizer and the Wrangler is excellent on road. My wife doesn't even have a problem. Maybe you should let your wife drive more often.
Everyone says they are hard to control. I have been driving mine for 9.5 years and nothing close to a tip lol. You can tell people come from driving a small sports car to this!
No hard feelings & I know that not everyone is a Jeep enthusiast & while I wish that Stellantis would never have owned Jeep to begin with, I think the 392 factory suspension actually rides pretty good. Definitely not a Cadillac or Mercedes Benz, but I think it drives really well.
Ugggggh. My 392XR should be arriving tomorrow or Friday. I’ve never even driven a Wrangler, but took a leap of faith on this, and holy crap I cannot wait to get it. Ordered 8/29, and the day is just around the corner. Screw Christmas - this is what I’m really looking forward to.
@@1titans the salesperson was blowing smoke. It’s still at the rail yard. Apparently they don’t actually have any idea when it will arrive until the transporter pulls up. Ordered 8/29.
Fuck off! I prefer this Wrangler over all my vehicles, including my 911. Handles well, turns great fast asf! only downs are the fuel mileage and brakes.
@@dwnshft I believe what he meant, what he has implied, is that he enjoys driving the Wrangler Rubicon 392 more than the Porsche 911 he also owns. I used to sell Porsche's at Pioneer Centres in San Diego (1988-1989). I fell in love with the 911 during that time. That said, while I've doubt a 911, virtually any 911 that still runs, would out handle any Jeep Wrangler ever made. Quite frankly, however, I've always been a lover of 4-wheel drive vehicles. Give me a choice of any Porsche ever made, or a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, and, if the vehicle I chose was a car I had to own and drive, I'd go with the Jeep. Hands down!
K02 aren't the best snow tires, K02s have a similar pattern from the center to the shoulders in the snow you'd need a good amount of center tread but with chunky blocks on shoulder and sidewall to clear out the snow like the tread found on a Goodyear Duratrac
This review is done by someone who, if they lowered themselves enough to own a jeep, they would snub their nose at you when jeep waved at them while passing.
You pointed out more negative things than positive, clearly not real offroad guys just mall cruisers, it never was made for the street drivers that you clearly are...
Keeping it straight on the highway?...never had a problem with that...look , it's a jeep not A Cadillac...it's supposed to be rugged and tough, that is where the fun is . if you want comfort by a S.U.V.
My only frame of reference is a GC 5.9 Limited and that thing was a bit of a beast. You really appreciate independent front suspension on the road after driving a solid axle Jeep for a while. Kudos to Daimler-Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis Morissette or whoever they try to identify as in the next few months, for doing something exciting!
"...and recirculating ball steering which means it's so opposed to going in a straight lien that Stelantis couldn't even fit lane keep assist..." 🤣 It actually has ball steering? Damn.
Rack and pinion setups don't work well on a solid front axle. If you mount the rack to the axle you have the problem of how to connect the steering to the rack. If you connect to the frame you introduce bump steer. I can't think of a solid front axle vehicle that doesn't use a recirculating ball steering box from the factory.
@@rich7447 There are already many vehicles without a mechanical connection between steering wheel and the wheels and the number is growing. They're also starting to make brake pedals electric, without a mechanical connection with a potentiometer just like how the gas pedal is now electric with a potentiometer. Hyundai even makes an electric clutch for manual transmission so you can have remote start and decouple the engine on the highway with the mild hybrid system. And if you are in a city you might not be driving a car in the near future. Where I live anti-car activism is very hot right now.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 I know that the brake and accelerator on mnay newer vehicles are by wire, but I don't trust full control to electronic/electrical system.
"Anywhere there is pavement it drives pretty terribly"? What is he talking about? I drive a 2020 2 dr rubicon daily for 2 + years and it drives nice. This guy is a loud mouth fool.
@@jimmytong2033 you can’t tell me the wrangler drives as well as the GLE or the JCW. As compared to wranglers of the past, the JL is the clear superior. But compared to almost anything else it does not drive well
@@dwnshft I am not comparing. The JL does not drive terribly at all. It is very pleasant and fun to drive on the road. Period. It is very sad that People become whiners nowadays. Complaining about everything.
Lol, I thought the same thing. They consider this a trail? Looks like a lightly snow dusted, flat service road with a pile of dirt off to the side lol.
If it's just the sound of the engine that makes you want to own one, then I'll pass. I believe he said horrible drive on the pavement, and it's subjective to flipping over from a wind gust. 😳
It's all hyperbole and flare to sell video views. I've driven several 2020+ jeeps and none of what they are saying plays out in the real world. Solid axle vs IFS is they only difference, and this vehicle never was marketed as a "G" wagon killer.
no - you can get an extreme recon pack on a normal Wrangler. The extra money goes for the V8 experience - if you don't care about that, then i'd save your money
Many people build there Jeep U cab put a nice suspension that will make it ride like a Cherokee if it’s not your daily driver and your keeping it for ever u can do a swap I put a magnus supercharged LT1 in it Nice soft riding 5 1/2 in metalclock lift 1 Ton axels extra wide handles shocking well throw some sweet suspension seats makes it very comfortable and a hyro sterling system makes it steer and drives as well as my Cherokee U can build a better Jeep for the money u won’t get all the belles and whistles but honestly most of those modes they give you are junk I want full peddle control my Jeep would way that toy whine getting far better gas mileage
I have owned many jeeps, driven many more.I think the Willys is by far the best! 4 wheel drive ever made. I can follow you in your v8 rubicon 392 while driving my Willys, but can you and your rubicon 392 follow me in my(all original)1946 willys with the original 4 cylinder(go devil)engine? Off road of course.I drive a 2001 wrangler with a 4.0 as my everyday driver, it cannot do what that Willys can do.
U can buy a cheap jeep and put a v8 with transmission for way less. These manufactures and dealers are bonkers. Buyin a jeep a this price doesnt make financial sense....and even worse for the second hand buyers..lol. oh well. Its a sinkin ship when dealers are selling vehicles and even used ones at crazy prices
for the money I will build a Jeep that has 4x4 not AWD. Has D60/80 not D44s. and swap in a 5.7/6.4. Sorry but the cost of this isn't practical for what you are getting. it is great for the mall crawlers that want a V8 and have money to blow.
A good car for who have money to throw away 😂 I have and always want a Rubicon because I love Jeep, but if one day I want a powerful engine I go with Toyota
