Wow, this intro is intense, Geese. You're making me wonder if my wife's boyfriend will have this on pre order. My Murano isn't holding up the same anymore. Exciting!
@@aussie2uGA because their governments intentionally oppress their people with as much taxes as they can take to fill their pockets? Yeah that's probably why they have little engines. I'm sure they want weak little prius gokarts
@@THESLlCK The taxes are specifically to drive down fuel use. They have to import all of it and that's a big drain on a nation's economy. When they started those taxes big and powerful cars were strictly a luxury product.
@@markmiller3279 yeah I'm sure everyone is much better off paying inflation-level prices for everyday goods. They've done so much good, surely. You can tell because everybody walks and bikes in europe by choice. .....right?
@@THESLlCK Pretty sure that 19,000 people didn't die walking and biking in the EU last year, to say nothing of the proportionally much-worse 43,000 people who died in passenger vehicles in the USA. And those numbers speak in no way to 300,000 obesity-related deaths that Americans suffer because they're too scared and unfit to walk to the train station (that doesn't exist).
More importantly I can’t imagine your experience driving a V8 with only 3 gears ⚙️⚙️⚙️ I’ve been driving a few 4 gear L6, which gives a great rev roar🦁 Your 3gears must’ve sounded like a dragon 🐉
@@dougrobinson8602 you do realize you can just... change out the wheels, right? But i do agree, no one is gonna spend 200k+ on a car and actually use it for offroad. But the history, and luxury of the benz is what makes it expensive. ive been inside the jeep 392, and the interior quality is horrible for the price.
This jeep is so stupid I had to have one. Ordered a 392XR back in October and hoping it finally shows up at the dealer next month. What is there not to like. 0 to 60 in 4 flat. Can throw kids in the back, great retro looks, and can get it a little dirty. Perfect urban car for me. A working man's G Wagon.
@@Mecharuva Yup. The engine just takes it over the top. The Bronco would actually probably be better for my purposes, but not so much better that I am willing to give up the V8 392 performance. I initially was considering a Bronco Raptor but decided against it for a couple of reasons. The first is that I think the design is too clownish. Design wise, it just looks over done with those massive fender flares. Had they say just offered a v8 or even a higher performing v6 in a Badlands spec, then the Bronco would be more appealing to me.
I’ve literally never looked twice at a jeep but this would be an absolute riot. I had a charger 392 and I’m glad to see those crazy bastards shoe horned a 392 into an off-road vehicle
People Can't Afford these! They are Leveraging their whole Budget or Taking out Home Equity to Buy. BTW I'm a Lender who sees this Personally!! It's ridiculous!
It's funny how for many years, Jeep loyalists have been begging Chrysler to offer a V8 option, and they finally do right around the same time Ford re-launches the new Bronco. That aside, I love the 392 option, and love the review. Kudos to Jeep & Savagegeese.
I'd argue that they made the 392 and the Recon edition specifically because of the Bronco. If Ford never brought the Bronco back, you'd have only the V6 and 4 banger turbo Wrangler. And probably the 4xe.
Tyrone (my wife’s boyfriend) have one of these in order, he said if I don’t make any late payments, he might let me sit in the driver seat! Tyrone is such cool guy for such cool ride
First, great video gents! Second, we wanted a 5.7 at about 50k. Not a 6.4 at 70k. I don’t see many of these on the road here in the south where you’d expect to see them. It’s cool but no thanks.
Production limitations more than lack of demand. And i think it's meant to be more of a limited-run seller, too. Stellantis is already buying tons of emissions credits from Tesla
@@ShaiyanHossain which is an impressive drive train. But that starts at $54k, 58 if you want a rubicon and 66 if I had my way with it. Would be a long time before I recouped that initial cost of the hybrid drive train. Considering I bought my first fully loaded 4dr Rubicon at $43k back in 2013, I’m just not that into these prices.
I got a chance to ride in a 392 Wrangler calibration vehicle a couple years back. It had a 4" lift on it, and it honestly rode really well. If not for the typical Wrangler road noise, it was a legitimately nice car to be in. I never thought I'd say that about a Wrangler.
Is there a 4/5 point harness option with this beast? That would be the box to check off as these things are going to be rolling over around corners like Hot Wheels when you set up the track wrong....
Keep in mind, this is the most visceral naturally aspirated V8 experience you'll get in the industry: The chargers, challengers, Durangos, grand Cherokees and rams are very well insulated and refined. They give you the V8 experience, sound, and vibration, but at a much lower level. This 392 is balls to the wall V8 in your face with the least amount of NVH in the Wrangler platform. That sound track just can't be beat... What a car! Especially in today's age of shoving turbo 4s and EVs down our throats!
I have never been a Jeep off road guy, and I don’t think I ever will be. However, if I had to choose, it would definitely be this Jeep Wrangler with the V8 OR the Jeep Cherokee Track Hawk. The guys at Jeep build what customers want! With that being said, WHY THE FUCK can’t Acura and Honda build what customers want! Give us the Accord TypeR, Give us a REAL Integra, give us a TLX TypeS with a 6spd manual make it 3200 pounds, and make it affordable. I need to start making my own car man. Excuse the rant. Great Video again guys. Love it!
Honda doesnt want to invest the cash to do so... they are so stuck up their asses in badge engineering, parts bin raiding just like GM in the 80s... together with focus on eliminating warranty claims.... Honda & Acura are the Fridgidaire of automobiles
I love this Jeep, and I'm glad it exists, but at 75k there are too many other vehicles that I personally would rather have. However, if you have the funds and it strikes your fancy, know I'll be a tiny bit jealous when I see you driving by.
A simple question nobody seems to want to ask is.....why not the 5.7L? A 5.7L Wrangler would be available to a larger portion of the market, could improve towing numbers over the other Wranglers and the Ranger SUV, and would pave the way to drop it in the Gladiator. This is very cool but the 5.7L makes far more sense
I think most people wanted the 5.7 Hemi. Especially people who overland these vehicles and add extra weight with mods. The normal V6 was just becoming underpowered.
This will sell to the same people who buy Hellcats, Charger 392s, SRT Durango, and TRXs. I don't think many overlanders will want to swallow the price premium and the fuel economy hit. The first one of these I saw was a guy who's wife loved her aftermarket turbo V6 Wrangler, but wanted to have the V8. The second was nearly the same story. People with fast cars in their garage that want a fast Wrangler.
I rock crawl and overland with my Rubicon with 40s and live in CO above 7,000ft above sea level and never felt the need for more power since I average 3mph when crawling LOL.
@@mtnman1984 yeah IDK, I think they could have chosen better but went the way that would bring more profit by charging premium. Also it could have been a decision to not hurt the sales of the V6 if the V8 offering was too sensible.
@@kenim there is some marketing in the price premium, but this truck has some special engineering in it too. This is the sixth available powertrain for the Wrangler and it's even more niche than a Hellcat widebody. I don't think they're worried about sales cannibalization or sales outright.
@@mtnman1984 i know and thats the problem and probably even their intention. People actually wanted a smaller less outrageous V8 for a more affordable price. Read a lot of people commenting it should have been a 5.7 for around 50k. And that maybe made too much sense, so they went the niche way to make a statement.
When a car manufacturer gives the middle finger to almost all common sense, you come up with a 392 Wrangler. Thanks you!!! Dodge Viper? Great, Hellcat? Wonderful...TRX? Fabulous...this Jeep is all these toys wrapped up in one glorious vehicle!!
Sometimes it seems like Stellantis took Lee Iacocca from the grave, gave him an unlimited supply of hemi engines, and put him in charge of the product planning department. The jacked up 392 Pacifica is going to kick ass. Especially with the fine Corinthian leather interior.
Big Wrangler fan here. I’ve owned six brand new Wranglers over the past twenty five years. I’ll trade in my current 2.0L JL pronto as soon as Stellantis adds bigger/better brakes and reduces some of the body roll; done! Thanks for the review. SG is the sh!t, Cheers/B
I bought a 392 last winter to replace my LJ (another classic). Everything they said is absolutely true. And 76k is a steal compared to what these will cost in a few years.
It’s a toy, right , but an expensive toy to buy and play with…. Good for those boys who can afford it. 11 mpg nowadays with 2$/litre in Canada!!! Go for it guys … I can’t imagine what income bracket can afford this thing comfortably.
About $40 to drive 100km. Going to drive some FSRs for a day near Vancouver the bill would probably be about $130 in fuel. That's like a day out in a ski boat lol. Of course, a TJ with 35s would probably get even worse mileage!
You kinda described my car. My spirit vessel. In repair, pseudo-idle. Like me. First car I ever owned. Tuned. Owned two others after that, and a motorcycle. Those are gone now. The Corolla E11 is still waiting for R&R (Rescue and Revival). ... When I was driving with company, it was well-received how the rev meter needle went into the red and then twitching out of it on the other side. 😄 My motto: *Torque steer is not a problem, but a feature.* When you mentioned Stellantis, I wiki'd a bit and realized, unexpectedly in these times of business fusions, that there is a brand I hadn't known before: "DS" - Citroen luxury brand. Now I know what that weird car badge was that I saw here recently.
I have never owned a Jeep but I want a Wrangler Rubicon 392. Or maybe a Cherokee Hemi. Thank you Stellantis for V8's and excellent interiors in the Cherokees, Wagoneers, and the RAM trucks.
Over-the-top, impractical and likely unreliable but damn, I am happy that Dodge listened to their customers and put the 392 in the Wrangler. That's a proper send-off for the ICE.
“Poor man’s AMG G63.” “Working man’s G-Class.” So I actually have a 2016 AMG G63, I’ve built it with a 4” lift and 35” tires and I’ve wheeled it on some of the toughest Colorado trails. The thing is an epic POS. It’s a tractor, but unreliable. Always leaking something, always giving me a warning light. Capable? Yes, relatively-solid front axle with limited articulation means it’s tippy. 3 lockers help. It’s not a Jeep. It’s not better than a Jeep. I have a buyer, it’s sold and I pick up my 392 in Sarge Green today. Happy to go back to the “poor man’s G-Class.”
Savegegeese - thank you for a fenomenal high quality video! This is my current dreamcar. If I had to live the rest of my life with one car - this is it😎😄!
That oil plug location 3:39 is hillarous. Aluminum pan with the plug pointing straight down. Lucky its been changed to a steel pan with the pug facing backwards.
This just might be the reincarnation of the true CJ-7! I miss my lifted on 35" mud tires with a 304 W/t-4 7.xx granny low first gear so it was basically a 3 speed cj-7! BUT, omfg the price is out of hand!!!
It's cool....but at the end of the day is an overpowered brick. This is great if you are driving less than an hour in any direction, on smooth pavement, and don't mind compressing your disks into oblivion.
@@andoletube Who is the target demographic for this to be honest? Reasonable people are looking at this and saying that $80k makes no sense for an agricultural car like the Wrangler. It's an overpriced budget car with a big engine and it makes little sense beyond an impulse buy.
