They could have done some really cool new and exciting things with Jeff… especially with Deen in the band too. Neal just wanted to ride the classic Journey stuff at the time I guess. Soto sounds great everything he’s done since. The SOA stuff is absolutely amazing.

@@avo010 Extreme was good, but it wasn't a full set though, and this one had some real hidden gems. It's Late, Spread Your Wings, Dragon Attack, Ogre Battle... the whole set I kept going "no way!" as they started another deep cut.

Imagine that, lead for Journey AND Queen. JSS is one of my faves for sure.

I will be honest, in today's society. well...I will use an analogy.....it's kind of like the NBA now, which is SO blatantly racist and biased to the peak of 95/5% blacks to white which would not be tolerated in other sports - even blacks complain about hockey (blacks are not "just" better at basketball, but we WANT to believe they are which is so racist in itself, that we believe the poor inner city kid is some magical creature and whites CAN'T be as good) blacks are okay with it because we are not REALLY about "civil rights" we're about as humans getting ahead, getting something someone else has that we want, and the NBA gives them an edge so they shut up and don't look back. I see this a little like that. We WANT that flamboyance, talent be damned. If the new queenie Lambert WASN'T flamboyantly gay and "soft spoken" and held up as a hero by the gay community, he'd likely be rushed out of the band - though he is also very talented and I am not downplaying his inherent talent. JSS, of who I am just a fan, not hero worship, never quite finds his niche. He doesn't "fit" any where perfect. I did see him with YNGWIE in '86 at the Long Beach Arena and INCREDIBLE. Just incredible. If he had a "stich" he'd likely be bigger than life. Instead he's just a talented rocker.

The only performance that rivals this is the Queen + Paul Rodgers era. He was the perfect guy for the band, without trying to touch Freddie Mercury's approach. That guy that sings sitting on a couch sucks.
