It seems that Mr. Williams believes that Christianity should not even have existed. According to him, Jesus Christ was simply one of Israeli prophets who merely preached observance of Torah. Therefore, his followers should have been Torah observing Jews, or other people who would be willing to observe Torah. Why was the New Testament written then?
@tombuddy100 The New Testament was NOT written per se. What was done was because there were so many different books, such as Gospels and Historical Events written about a figure named Jesus, then the would be ruler Constantine wanted to unite these differing Christians under one roof. They then picked certain books that they thought jelled together rather nicely and forced it upon the People.

I did notice, however, that he did not make reference to, even in passing, other prominent biblical scholars who wrote about these issues long before Geza Vermes did, such as Morton Scott Enslin ("It is today perfectly obvious that there is a vast difference between the nature of the messages of Jesus and Paul. At times this has led to unsparing condemnation of Paul and his associates who perverted the simple gospel stream. The slogan 'Back to Jesus' has simply meant 'Away from Paul' [...] To make it concrete: Had Jesus been able to attend a church service in Corinth in the year 54 A.D., he would have astounded, and might well have asked himself in amazement: Is this the result of my work in Galilee?" - Morton Scott Enslin, "Christian Beginnings", 1934), H. Paul leaves out the 'catholic ' gospel scholars, who have explained the evolution of Jesus into the ' Christ '. In my opinion, Paul presents a very simplistic explanation of the foundation of the "Roman Catholic " . To attempt to explain the complex nature of "1&2 century in this short format is ridiculous. He refers to ' Bible scholars ' without any discussion of their 'agendas'. He also skipped over valid audience questions on Paul and other writers who were part of the evolution. Weak presentation.

He does not debate Christians because, like many Muslims, he also seems to believe that a person must have an "open mind" in order to accept Islam, which they believe Christians do not have, but atheists for some reason are more likely to have. Muslims prefer not to debate Christians directly, but rather denigrate their scriptures.

Yes there are hadith that explains old stories mentioned in the Quran that taken from the Jews and ex Christians at that time (who are converting to Islam) We call them Israiliyaat. General consensus are we are to be careful around this hadith. Depends on the reliability of this chain of narration, and the reason behind these hadith existing, the muhaditsin gave these hadith authenticity status. It doesn't change our core theology so it's fine to believe in it or not. The questions need to be asked is: How is our preparation if tomorrow happens to be the Hour (this is sahih Hadith from the Prophet himself) 2. Your new testament, including book of Revelation was produced from Codex Sinaiticus from 4th century AD as earliest primary source material. Many Christian Scholars on textual critics questions the text in it which text is canon and which aren't. They called Apocrypha. Question is: who wrote these? And with whose authority? Not to mention the 320 years gap you have to close. How would one believe the content to be reliable? Bro did you watch the video? Paul demonstrates them been changed. 3. The most shocking one. Do you know what Dajjal does? Miracles. The Jews are still waiting for their Messiah. You Christians believing in miracles as criteria. Dajjal would simply call himself the Messiah. Of course there are some remnants of the original message there. But we use Quran as the criteria. Copying, is just your delusion. The Quran came down to the prophet through the Angel. When we do comparisons, Quran, has highest authority over any other scriptures. Corruption of a scripture, means addition, omition, and edition. Here's one example: 1 John 5:7 And There are three that bear record in heaven. The Father, The Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. Your Trinity verse. Which is your very CORE THEOLOGY. Before 1611, this verse belong to KJV. But after that, it was REMOVED. If that one verse that dictates your whole doctrine is a forgery, then whats left in your scripture that you can rely on? I'd say Nothing is reliable anymore.. OT apocrypha: Book of Henokh, Judith, Jubilee, Tobit, etc. NT apocrypha: Epistle of Barnabas, Macabees 1,2,3,4 Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Mary Who wrote these text?? Subhanallah a contemporary Paul helps to correct the wrongs of an ancient Paul. Perhaps a 'small' thing in the grand scheme of Allah's universe and creation, as we all are small in that sense; yet I find it quite a coincidence and what a humorous one 😎
I found Dr. Paul Williams' lecture both wonderful and very educational, and I thank him for his presentation. However, I wish he had not compared James’s accession to the church to the Shiite belief that Ali, RA, is more deserving of the caliphate than Abu Bakr due to his familial ties to the Prophet PBUH. Many Christians may misunderstand this analogy and treat it as a major issue in terms of history or belief (argument) rather than the brief comparison it was meant to be. This belief is held by a specific sect that emerged long after the Prophet PBUH, not by the broader Islamic community. Therefore, I believe Dr. Williams should have avoided this analogy to prevent distractions from the lecture's main points. Although I know this issue is minor to him and it’s very widely well known, it doesn't require mentioning here and now, to maintain the audience’s focus on the lecture's true goal and useful conclusions.

Every culture depicts Jesus as their own race. I like how he shamed his own people for doing it. If Jesus was a Muslim, why didn’t he preach Islam? Why didn’t he teach five daily prayers? Why is there no record of anything relating to Islamic practice? Why was he free mixing with women at parties, drinking wine? Were somehow all the records of his life by dozens of people all wrong? And yet a record 600 years later by people who never met Jesus and totally contradicts the records of the people who met him is somehow correct? How is that scholarship? It’s not even a matter of Muhammad because even if the Quran was preserved, none of these people met Jesus. How do you explain that most of the stories of Jesus from the Quran match stories from false and now proven fraudulent gospels that were being circulated at the time?

Thank you Paul. I find it very interesting the possibility that for centuries even the disciples, Jesus’s family members and Maryam (as) were of the impression that Jesus had been crucified. This was only negated by the Quran almost 6 centuries later.
