After the screaming girls of which most of them also pissing in their panties during the fifties till early sixties, crowds in the second half of the sixties were respectful to the performing artist(s); they listened first and applauded/cheered/screamed afterwards. Stoned? Some (probably most) of them may be. Respectful? Definitely!
July 4th, 1970 he played Star Spangled Banner for us at Atlanta Pop. Shortly after, he left us forever. Thankfully, his music is still with us. The guitar strap he wore that night is the very same that David Gilmour now wears for most of his concerts. His wife gave it to him as a gift. Imagine what that strap is worth today!!
My one question is why is the crowd acting like they couldn't care less? They're not cheering or reacting in any way. Was that just the way concerts were back then?
I saw Jimi live in concert in February 1968, and since then hundreds of concerts. Hendrix was far and away the best concert I've ever attended! Keep the Hendrix coming Inna!
I was at this concert sitting near the front. I remember him and The Experience flying in on a helicopter near the stage. We were all.mesmerized by his show. Even the other acts were watching from the side of the stage.
I've been listening to J.H. for more than 50 years. Now his videos just make me weep. What he was communicating was revealitory, He was that unique; and so ahead of his time in just about everything he played.
Wow, I feel the same way aboyt Jimi and His Music, 54 years for me of Listening to Jimi and His Experiences. I wish you and I could conscverse sometime about The JHE. sing on Brother, Play on Drummer !!
Jimi Hendrix is my all time favourite musician and that will never change anymore. He passed away when I was a bit more then a year old. It ws my father who was a big fan of his music and as a child I was influenced a lot by my dad's album collection which contained the until then released Hendrix albums. Fifty+ years on I can still listen to his music and feel like it is the very first time I hear it. No artist has managed that with me but Jimi. If I imagine one could travel back in time for one day I would pick a day and see Hendrix perform live.
It's a right handed guitar upside down, but it's not mind blowing. After replacing the nut, adjusting the intonation so every note plays in tune, it's the same as any guitar, the only difference is the body shape and where the controls are. Back in those days fender did make lefty guitars, but they were as rare as hens teeth. It was far easier to just buy a right handed guitar and get on with it.
I love it when reactors say "I wish i was alive back then". Depending your age back then would make you anywhere from your sixties to well not around anymore. Well I was alive then and I'm now 65, the music from the sixties and seventies was great.
great reaction he's the first to make a guitar talk he also served in the US Army in Europe and was discharged because he was always late coming back to base after playing in night clubs and sometimes missing days
Glad you like Jimi H. Please talk with an experienced guitarist about learning to play. Hendrix uses a Stratocaster (style) guitar--made by many companies...
Really, they didn't know how to react, this music is so heavy, and so much swing, soul, and swagger, they couldn't even comprehend. We barely can now...
I think often with these old live performances, the crowd shots are not actually taken during the performance, they're just cut in from other shots of the crowd they took at random times when there may be an act on stage or not.
The Crowd is Simply STUNNED Because NO ONE played guitar like Jimi at that time or ever ! Even Clapton , he of the London Graffiti that proclaimed "Clapton Is God" said to a companion upon 1st seeing Hendrix perform in a London Club , "You Didn't Tell Me He was THAT Good !"
Jimi was not only legendary but freak of nature of his time. He was left handed so he played his guitar with his left hand, pllaying the guitar upside down. No wonder current legends hold him in high esteem.
Great reaction to Jimi, he never thought of himself as a great guitarist he was very humble about his skills. My sister went to school with his older sister in the early 60's, a few times he had come to our house to pick her up. He wasn't what you see now as he had just gotten back from the Army so he looked like a normal young man. He spent a few years in Seattle and then went off to Nashville to join in the music scene there. It didn't go too well and he took off to London where the British music scene was booming. Which is where he became quite popular and started his career. Back in 2016 the city turned my old grade school playground into the Jimi Hendrix Park. They have also put up a huge memorial at Greenwood Memorial Park and it is amazing. For decades people would visit his old grave site and chip away at his headstone as well as leave behind guitar pics among other things which they still do at his new resting place. Back then people usually sat and listened to the music, unlike today whee people get up and dance. Please keep looking into his music, he was truly advanced for the times and is still look at as one of the greatest.
Start playing guitar. Start playing guitar. Start playing guitar. I started playing probably before you were born. I'm not that good. But it will open up how you hear and understand music in a way that changes it all for the better.
Jimi was a God gifted displaying all this killer technics, adopted for many others monster of guitar 55 years after him, the very beginning for many in rock music, Fender Stratocaster guitars, Marshall amps, high volume out doors and massive audiences gigs, sound systems, logistical crews, almost all that stuff we see now in present day. Even today, if he would be alive among us, he would be performing like its contemporaries, The Stones, Zepp, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, what a stage!!.. absolutely insane.
Hard to believe Jimi was a very shy person when you see him on stage. You should react to him playing Hear My Train a Comin' on acoustic guitar My favorite of all time in Machine Gun....awesome awesome tune If you start to learn how to play guitar, you can learn the intro to Smoke on the Water iby Deep Purple n about 15 minutes.....probably the easiest well known riff out there
I'm from the generation that really enjoyed Jimi Hendrix, who was impressive. Pls, when you can, react to Brazilian vocalist Gabriel Henrique in Earth Song -Michael Jackson. And this Friday, the 8th, he will release a clip with choir.
In additional to being an innovative guitarist, he was the most sensual/sexual performer that I know of from that time. I don't think he was wanting of female admirers. If he had a "normal" life span, he may have had 40 or 50more years of being productive with sound. Selfishly, it still upsets me that that didn't happen. I'm happy to see your positive reaction
Got turned on to Jimi just a few months after he passed (I was 13 yo). He'll always be my #1. So many greats to listen to, and really there is no such thing as "the best" - it's all subjectibe. That being said, Jimi stands tall as the prime mover, followed by (in noparticular order) Jeff Beck, Danny Gatton, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page, Bonnie Raitt, Clapton, and many, many others. I hope your guitar playing is coming along. Give a Listen to Jimi's "Night Bird Flying" from the 'Cry of Love' LP - it will blow your mind. Cheers...
Jimi is the Goat for me and millions more fans, he influenced everyone who came after on electric guitar. For more evidence, try his video for Voodoo Child at Woodstock and for audio do his amazing live take of Hey Joe at Winterland 10/12/68, it has one of his very best intros ever and is the definitive version of that classic song for me. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Gabriel Henrique is an indescribable talent. Thank you, your support is very important. On 12/08/2023 at 6:00 pm Brasília time, Gabriel's new video will be released, it will be very important for his career, we count on your support.❤❤
Just wanted to address the whole thing about the audiences being rather mellow. This was the vibe (a sixties word, BTW lol) of the rock scene of the late 60s. I think the mindset was more about listening to the music than going nuts as we see today. In the 70s, between 'ludes, weed and other downers, you'd hear stories of whole audiences falling asleep haha. Not sure if that's completely true, but hey.
Hi, I would like to see your reaction to Gabriel Henrique, singing Earth Song by Michael Jackson, it's incredible... on December 8th his new video will be released, it will be beautiful, he is incredibly talented ❤❤❤
Wow. Your RU-vid is the best. Thanks a lot. I think you and Jimi Hendrix have something in common. Please react to him more. He is legendary of guitar. You are legendary of beauty as well. Always smiley ❤
Excellent reaction. It's a shame so little of Hendrix was filmed.... but we do have 4 classic and iconic albums -- listen to "Little Wing" and "If 6 Was 9" and "All Along The Watchtower".....
I loved!!! Do you know Gabriel Henrique? He is a brazilian singer. Coud you react? He will release a music video on december 8th at 6h, Brazilian time. #gabrielhenrique #newmusicvideo
Inna, I have a suggestion for another rock band from back in this time period -- Grand Funk Railroad - Inside looking out. It is high energy and live. Just three guys that can JAM!! I enjoy YOU!!!!!!
Having collected all I can of Jimi, it's hilarious to hear you say you've been listening to Jimi these last few months. You're in for a treat. In my experience the authoritarian communists' demand and expectation for classical culture closed that part of the world off to progressive thought and freedom of expression by individuals that the West has enjoyed, and enjoyed freely and for so long. Jimi is firmly at the top of the clown culture. Welcome aboard, Inna. You are a breath of fresh air. Good of you to join the debauched culture.
And you should play guitar - it's great fun. Nobody has done what Hendrix did, but we can all be creative and play some music with the guitar, even if we can't all be the greatest of all time.
I really liked the video. It would be really cool and interesting if you reacted to the new clip by Brazilian singer Gabriel Henrique, he's fantastic. It will be released on 12/08 at 6pm Brasília time. Thank you very much!!!❤️❤️❤️
Obrigada ❤️
