@@SenorCluck Sorry! Slipped my mind. Had to get an adjustment by my repair guy but I love this contra! Plays similarly to the LeBlanc and as a tuba player primarily I appreciate that it’s a fraction of the price 👍

Thanks for your comment also! I don't think they'll make a paperclip EEb contra-alto but that would certainly be very cool! I have a straight Selmer Bundy contra-alto which is great, but there's just something cool about paperclips haha.

low instruments are always really fun to play with it might be a bit challenging playing it tho😅

I ended up not worrying about it but it'd be nice to get it taken out at some stage. It's probably nothing to do with the sellers, more the shipping company. I just let it go.

Yes, I've often found synthetic reeds a little stuffy for the upper instruments, but for the contrabass, the Legere was perfect--- so much more stable and workable than cane!

I've just uploaded an update video, repair person said they adjusted about a third of the pads. didn't get into it too much but I can definitely get their thoughts on it more and get back to you 👍

Hi, thanks for your questions - your English is very good! It took a month for them to build the instrument from the time I placed the order, then it took a month to arrive as I opted for the cheaper, slower, freight option by boat. They did also quote for air-mail but it was more expensive. They'll give you shipping quotes based on where it's being delivered to. Mine was slightly less than $3,000 AUD. I usually push a swab up the neck receiver using the bell end-peg, it gets to the top of the bend but I never worry about cleaning the rest. You could take the bell off and do the same thing but honestly, no moisture ends up there since it's at the top/end of the tubing. Let me know if you end up getting one! 👍

It might be possible to add key guides, to prevent the long rods from flexing sideways.

I believe contrabass flutes require so much air that few people can blow notes long enough to keep the contrabass flute from sounding like a percussion instrument!

Jinbao is slightly more reputable than many other chinese brands, they have a large factory and produce a lot of different instruments, often for others to stamp their name on.

haha, I'm definitely NOT being paid by the company! A chinese company wouldn't send a contra to a random bloke in Australia! This is bought and paid for with my own money and I said in the video that I expect it to be terrible! I've also just finished getting the thing fixed up and I've ripped out the guts of the case, will post an update video soon! 👍

This isn't exactly what you're after but in this video I do a bit more playing and my mate play tests it against his straight vito contra-bass - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YNkcrHzawls.html I've played this instrument in clarinet choir, sitting next to someone playing a Leblanc paperclip, he play tested it also and we both concluded there's no difference except thousands of dollars spare change in my pocket! Just bare in mind, whatever electronic device you used to view this video and make your comment was made in China! Almost everything is these days!

tried buying a leblanc paperclip lately? they arrive in the same condition but for much more money! the paperclip is all fixed up now and I'm building a case for it. I figured out the right reed strength for the mouthpiece and now it's not too bad. I'll post an update video soon!

He paid 3000 for a contrabass clarinet. There are bass clarinets that cost more. Kinda sounds like he got what he paid for.
