John Mayer, Travis Scott, Ed Sheehan, Mr. Sharktank, lenny Kravitz, or any other rock star or movie celebrity do not have requisite horological credentials required for discussion in this forum. This plays on the same fallacy of asking François-Paul Journe to discuss the merits and drawbacks of a Rickenbacker over a Gibson. Just because these 'celebrities' throw money at obscure wristwatches, does not give them 'authority'. Just like Yoko Ono does not share your horological credentials because she bought a Patek 2499 for John Lennon. (arguably a holy grail for most watch enthusiasts!) YOU, Christian, are an authority. YOU have the knowledge and your "10,000 hours" invested in this pursuit. YOU, along with others such as Teddy, Ben Clymer, and even Nico, should be noted as esteemed authorities. Nobody cares about John Mayer, Travis Scott, Ed Sheehan, Mr. Sharktank, or any other movie celebrity who just throw money at this hobby. Remember: John Mayer will not sit on stage during a concert, stop the show, and call YOU up onto his platform and ask YOU what you think of your Les Paul Guitar. I criticize because I want you to be *better* than pandering to 'celebrity' influencers.

I agree watch channels are dying since the hype surge is over but I’m a small channel in the space and im trying to be creative mixing simple lifestyle and watches for the average man.

Political opinions aside, the guy cannot even begin to defend views that he shares passionately from a pulpit. I think that if you dare to proclaim your conclusions, you ought to be able to explain your reasoning. Even just a little… and I don’t think a lack of literacy is his problem….

I think John Mayer is a lot of watch people’s Taylor Swift. Mayer is THE absolute tastemaker in the watch world. I watch his first Talking Watches at least 1x a month and I feel better, probably very similar to women who listen to Taylor Swift breakup songs and feels better about their lives.

Because Scott represents the shallow and vapid hype beasts that us historians want to protect our community from.
