All things considered, good, great, and bad, I think Johnson was a fine man and president. When I read how effectively ended segregation at his school's club I was impressed. What's point of being president if you can't do some good?

I had a singing fish. The big mouth bass. I put it behind my dad's bedroom door and when dad shut it for the night.... "Don't worry be happy" song blared scaring dad.... so dad put it in his closet so u grab it and put it in my big brothers bedroom walk in closet and when he went to change into pjs, "Don't worry be happy" blared. The next thing I hear is my brother thundering down the stairs to yell at dad... That was seven years ago. To this day, they never found out who really did it.

A bizarre fact is that he when President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 during a tour of the city of Dallas. Johnson, himself a Texan, hosted during this trip, Kennedy visited his ranch. Johnson rode in the same parade, but was not hit. He was sworn in the same day as the 36th president of the United States.

Texas politics of mid 20th century America. Johnson definitely wanted a legacy, which is why he pushed so hard for civil rights. Of course the world needed equality then, so Johnson the Texan was just the person to help bring it about. And right in the midst of JFK's assassination in '63, and MLK's and Robert Kennedy's in the same year, '68. Into the 70s when the rioting began to subside and things began to be normal for everybody (excepting watergate, of course).

The Carpetbagger sadly no. Though almost every President has one, only the ones from Herbert Hoover to George W Bush has one. The ones from George Washington to Calvin Coolidge are unofficial but still interesting. Sadly I’ve only been to 4 Presidential Libraries: Carter Reagan Nixon and Clinton. Would recommend any of them though Clinton was my least favorite.

Aren't the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, Medicare, & Medicaid all Johnson's legacy? Or was Medicare started under FDR? Social Security, the FDIC, & other things we rely on (and take for granted) today was started by FDR. Either way, just the Civil Rights & Voting Rights Acts & Medicaid were enough for Johnson to be one of our most significant presidents!

What would be awesome is if they used that animatronic to sync with the audio of LBJ talking to his tailor about the "adjustments" he needed for his pants. If you haven't heard that look it up. :)

Which president has done more for the elderly, the poor, and the discriminated? Before LBJ, every president struggled to get things done. After LBJ, every president struggled to get things done - he was the difference! History is not what you remember, but, what actually happened. US historians like to rate the presidents. We dont do such a thing here in the UK, because a good historian does not judge the past - which is exactly what they are doing!

McAurther said "Sonny, dont get involved in a ground war in Asia." Driving away from that meeting,Johnson said to his aid "Did you hear that? That S.O.B. called me sonny. Very interesting video my friend...but when you research Johnson you will find that he was definitely NOT a good man. This is not the place to go into it, but to say he was a racist in an understatement, and it is because of Johnson that we continue to be stuck in the mire of entitlements. Great job...

The Carpetbagger that's right C.B. it's actions that ultimately matter, not words, we have had plenty of politicians with all the flowery rhetoric (No names needed) who didn't accomplish Jack squat in the end. LBJ wasn't perfect, but he was better than most. That's one man's opinion.

Although Im sure in my heart that LBJ was a racist his use of the word nigra is not the only condemning factor. More than the use of that word was the fact that he was very wealthy and his actions helped the blacks a little bit but still kept them in check sort of. I was raised by a "hillbilly" father and I did occasionally hear the word "nigra" but it didn't seem to have the same meaning and the "N*%ger" word used by the non hillbilly people I knew. I remember visiting my grandpa like 50 years ago in a small town in Tennessee. He was 89 years old and we were in the town square on one side with all the old white men whittling sticks when my grandpa said (with a mouth full of chew) come on boy and we crossed the courtyard to a bunch of old black men that were whittling on there side. I got kind of nervus (being raised in the suburbs of chicago) My grandpa knew all of them and introduced me to them. They all smiled and said hi Mr so n so (using my last name) It felt strange that all these old men addressed me as Mr and me being only 10.I was always taught to respect my elders no matter who they were, My grandpa continues talking to one named Jonesy about a case XX pocket knife he had and was trying to trade it for the one jonesy had. I think my grandpa had to come up with a dollar boot money to get him to trade. The haggling got a little heated and I was getting scared and I guess jonesy noticed it asked my grandpa what was wrong with Mr so n so and my grandpa laughed and said I was from up in Chicago and they all laughed and jonesy reached out and ruffled my hair and said everything's cool, Then he said something that struck me, he said yeah my son went up there to chicago gettin in all kinds of shit and came back down there wearing a goofy hat and tall goofy shoes and talking all crazy, he said he told his son to take his niggery ass back to chicago that he didn't want none of that crap. I had never here a black use that word before. As we walked back to the other side of the square my grandpa laughed and said where i'm sure Jonesy and the others could hear "I stuck it in that ol nigras ass with that double X case" I looked back and they were laughing and Jonesy was saying the same thing about braking it of in that old white mans ass" I spent 6 months down there and had many encounters with many blacks and never experienced any problems. Was it wrong the way things were then, I guess but nobody was at eachothers throats the way they are now days.

I consider myself a jfk Democrat boarder line independent everything Johnson did that was good jfk was planning on doing including not going to war with Vietnam jfk was against sending troops over there so if jfk had never been killed he would have been for sure the best president ever no doubt Johnson was a bully and didn't like the Kennedy's and alot of speculations r that Johnson had to do with the murder of Kennedy he always wanted to be president what I thought was odd is the very next day he ordered all of jfk's belongings be taken out right away no respect for the dead or grieving country
