An American Icon, an American Legend who had worked with just about everyone at one time or another. He doesn’t necessarily look like it but he always did things his way and didn’t take shit off anyone including record labels. He even fought other peers’ fights for them. Mad respect! The last couple years of his life (I believe) he had serious hip problems that caused him pain but would not cancel his shows because he didn’t want to disappoint his fans and in so doing ended up going into cardiac arrest due to his dependency on opioids. I love him and always will but upset that he didn’t take care of himself. We would have been disappointed but having his music taken from us forever is way more disappointing.
