Yeah, you don’t need context to think it’s cringe but it gets really bad when it is clearly a distraction from the XOMG Pop stuff. If it was just cringe, I don’t think it would have gotten as much attention. Being cringe is fine and I would think as much hate as it’s gotten is really tasteless but with how bad the allegations from the dance troupe are, I think she’s not getting enough negative attention.

Yet so many posting videos never look far enough and talk about it. So disappointing.

@@thehousecat93 Yeah ik dev said they looked a lot into this but it doesn't really come across like they did a whole lot of research for this. Even just in the petty rebrand stuff there definitely were clips shown of Jojo misleading people into the thinking the songs were hers if you look far enough. Just sad the rebrand stunt worked tbh

And I think the line "I was a bad girl, I did some bad things" is about those controversies.

When she started dressing like that everyone said she was trying to copy g-flip, I think its so difficult for her to do anything other than bows and ponytails

They have to do that cuz, like with Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, people won't split the character and the actor, so they need to go crazy for people to separate them

Given the theories people have about this whole rebrand being a distraction from her massive allegations that came out right before it probably isn't an authentic change at all. Just Jojo doing whatever her mom and management say to get away from it

@@simplyboppingK I am still in the industry, but only as a freelancer. Spoiler alert: I’m still dirt poor. But it’s my passion and I can’t see myself doing anything else. Getting enough clients to keep a consistent income is difficult, especially when I don’t live in a place that’s a “hub” for the music industry like Nashville anymore. Most of the time I don’t have a consistent income and need to turn to other things to make rent and pay bills. But I can’t complain, I have a nice little home studio and a great studio near me that I do work at. If anyone needs audio work done, lemme know lol.

I think the problem is if you go to e.g. the comments on JoJo's video, or just generally around RU-vid with the general comments whenever the song comes up e.g. when it's used in a short, the silly "she stole the song" comments and the variants of "she was a child star she's not a bad girl" are like 99.9% of all comments. I can only assume it's mostly actual kids commenting and that's why, but it very much gives the impression these are the main topics of discussion and they do seem to be what most people are talking about, as an outsider who knew almost nothing about JoJo Siwa before this recent stuff. Ofc adults (and older kids with more critical thinking skills) who are particularly interested often learn the stuff you referenced and that's all completely valid criticism. But it definitely feels like the vast majority of the discussion is in fact regarding silly/misinformed or surface level stuff, that anyone who actually looks into and considers logically for more than a few seconds will see doesn't make sense. Again as a person who didn't know much about JoJo, I saw the many thousands of comments that she "stole the song and claimed she wrote it" but then looked and all I could find presented as "evidence" was an quote where she specifically talked about how she was excited to record the song from another songwriter. TLDR totally agree her potential abusive behaviour should be the number one complaint, but because it's the internet (and probably most people discussing are younger children with limited critical thinking skills) it *isn't* the primary topic, instead silly, minor or illogical complaints are what's mostly being talked about.

From what I've seen a lot of people are having on this rebrand because of a theory going around the sudden change was to divert attention from serious allegations towards Jojo and her team mistreating their dance group (I forgot the dance groups names I think it was Xgirls or something?)

No hate or anything but I think Dev left a huge piece of context out of the video. Jojo got major allegations thrown against them right before this rebrand, that's part of the reason people are being so hateful towards it. Just thought I'd share since no one seemed to mention it
