Maxine Segalowitz Do you mean it is "objectively" offensive? Your statement seems to suggest that him saying that is just patently offensive, but I wasn't offended when I heard it. It used to be, people would say shit and some people would feel offended (oftentimes 99.9% of the world's population would feel offended, and sometimes it would just be a smaller subset of a population). But nowadays it seems like the culture has just shifted and if someone doesn't like some type of speech, they can deem it offensive objectively. People like you cheapen and trivialize actual hatespeech (authentic racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.) when you claim something as being purely "offensive." Especially something as innocuous as this. Everyone needs to lighten up a bit and look to the actual substance of speech, or we are going to destroy our freedom of speech by letting political correctness cloud our ability to distinguish actual harmful/hateful speech.

people refer to inclusive groups of people all the time, whites, blacks, hispanics, christians, muslims. saying gays is really no different from saying gay people, which is completely politically correct. the only reason you find it offensive is because you think it kinda "sounds mean".

He's over 80. A lot of things have changed in his life. Things are done differently and you lose touch, you don't catch on as quick. When you're 80 you will probably be just as out of touch, but you wont care
