So... Mark Hamill not only plays Luke Skywalker, The Joker, and Ozai. The most famous hero in Pop culture, the most famous villain in Superhero History, and main villain of the biggest animated kids show of all time... This man is a legend

The crazy thing is I never even think of Mark Hamil when I hear the Joker. He's so iconic as the Joker that he makes you forget who he is. To do that for the person who played Luke Skywalker is an incredible accomplishment

The Animated Series Joker is everything Joker should be; psychotic, scary, sophisticated, intelligent, and, crucially, funny.

So...does Mark Hamill play the best hero or the best villain of all time? Maybe both?

The Joker is at his best when he's not only scary and crazy, but genuinely funny. It takes a lot of skill to blend those opposites together and not many get it right.

This is why the Joker is such a great villain for Batman. He’s exactly the opposite of Batman. Batman is dark and brooding, while Joker is joyful and happy. And while Batman wants to stop crime, Joker wants to have fun by committing it. Thats why he can relate to Batman so well. He’s exactly the opposite, but also has a personality with Batman and wants him to try and catch him. That’s how he has fun committing crimes. Challenging Batman to try and stop him.

The Mark Hamil Joker is on the same level as Heath Ledger's. They're both so amazing!

You can thank Mark's Broadway career for the Joker's laughs. Mark played Mozart in "Amadeus," and Wolfgang was well known for being coarse, and having a laugh that sounded like a "braying donkey." To keep it fresh during the run, Mark would add in impressions of other actors'/characters' laughs. He did LOTS of them, and used them when he auditioned for Joker. That's what he draws on now. Mark always wanted to be a character actor, and with VA he got his wish. He is a true "working actor." GIfted, professional, funny, courteous to coworkers, and a find for any production. May he live a long, long life.

I'd like to think that when Hamill was practicing his Joker laughs en route to the recording session he was in a convertible.

I would say one of the things that makes the best versions of the Joker such a enjoyable villain is that despite how psychotic and crazy his actions are he is always having a blast doing his villain thing. And it is magnetic, his energy if infectious in that no matter how horrible the things he is doing are you still want to see more of it.

As amazing as Heath Ledger and the tons of great Jokers we have had over the years have been, Mark Hamil's voice always shows up when I think of the Joker, by far the best Joker voice ever. It is so amazing that both he and Kevin Conroy, by far the best voice for Batman in my opinion, worked so many Batman projects together.

If I was at a stop light and looked over to the other driver and saw that it was Mark Hamill laughing and cackling evilly to himself, my life would be complete and happy.

I think mark puts it best when he talks about the joker's laugh acting as a musical instrument which illustrates his mood. Its what gives Marks Laughs and portrayal of the Joker its life

People are still raving about Heath Ledger playing the best Joker but Mark Hamill did everything extremely well. He can do all aspects from comedic to psychotic.

I cant believe the other "Voice actors" didnt stand up when reading their lines. I thought the whole point was to get into character. Nowadays it seems to be the norm, but i guess it was different back then.

What Hamill said at 3:19 - 3:25 just made me realized that he would've be an international radio star in the '30s-40's. Such an incredible talented guy. In fact, he should be in a movie or in a tv-series about the golden age of radio plays.

Mark Hammil was a big part of the ol' childhood

As a little kid growing up watching the Animated show. Never in a million years I would have guessed that Mark Hamill played the voice of The Joker. In 2004-2005 when the show came out on DVD I was excited to get them all. I watched the show from start to finish, and watched the behind the scenes, the making of the show, interviews of the creators, producers, directors, and animators of the show, and it was cool to see what the voice actors looked like off screen because their was no internet or google to see who the voice actors looked like off screen in the late 90's, until they talked about who was the voice of The Joker it blew my mind away that Luke Skywalker was The Joker. I'm like What! Luke Skywalker and The Joker are the same person. As a joke it turns out Luke Skywalker did go to the dark side after all. LOL.

It's crazy because I knew Mark Hamill played Joker but before I actually got into star wars it didn't really click in my head that the same guy played Luke and Joker, and even after that it's still so bizarre. I try to hear traces of Mark's usual way of talking in his Joker performances and it's just so believable as another totally different voice. It's so fascinating

I love Mark Hamill's acting chops on this. His work set the gold standard for the Joker. And not too long after Jack Nicholson had done his amazing work with the character. Really the whole show was a perfect storm of art, writing, directing, and acting.

Hamill's best portrayal of Joker in my opinion, is in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. He was good in the series, but in those games he was phenomenal.

Batman: The Animated Series is easily the best TV show ever made. I feel that nothing will ever get close to how perfect the show was. A huge part of that was Mark Hamill's amazing performance as the Joker. You can't have Batman without his Joker. Likewise The Dark Knight movie would have only been half as good if they hadn't picked a great actor to be the Joker.

Hamill is such a rare treasure on this planet. I'm not prepared for his inevitable departure, I doubt anyone really is.

I've been grappling with something awful the past two days and can't sleep as a result, but this brought me joy and broke the cycle for a while! Thank you for posting!
