My dive watch is an Orient Kamasu, and I actually dive with it. I love the size because I don’t like huge analog watches. It also has a unique look instead of trying to be another submariner clone. It’s up market enough to look and feel nice, but not so expensive that I’m worried about using it for it’s intended purpose That said, a lot of people in the dive community, at least in my experience, opt for G Shocks or Invicta Pro Divers because they’re cheap and do the job

Orient might just be the most boring & uninspired brand available. Casio has more style for that matter … absolutely dislike Orient as much as Timex. I wouldn’t wear one for free & I’m no watch snob. Style & design are clearly subjective- whatever works for you.

For me, my dive watch journey peaked with my 39mm Longines Hydroconquest Ceramic. It's the "Goldilocks" zone for me. Brand heritage, versatile, perfect size, thin, best "off the shelf" movement imo (modified ETA 2892 with silicone hairspring for antimagentism and 70+ hour power reserve). It's not the "best" dive watch, but it's the perfect balance of spec/price/design that I've found.

Check out the new GMT LONGINES SPIRIT ZULU TIME - it's gorgeous and they do a solid gold one which shows the direction their heading back towards.

My dive watch journey ended with buying the Sinn U50. It has everything. A well respected brand with history. Its made of German U boat steel. It is fully tegimented, so it doesnt scratch easily. It is sandblasted and not polished. Its 300 m water resistant. Its very slim and not oversized. I dont have to worry about it while traveling or wearing. Its up to every task. This video resonates with me so much since I too found my perfect watch in 2020 when I also bought the bb58. So much so that I sold just about my entire collection. 20 watches. Kept about eight because they hold sentimental reasons. Like my Omega blue wave from 1998. The day my wife and I got together. I also kept the Casios and Gshocks but those don’t count lol. BB58 killed it for me and unlike you I don’t need a perfect anything else. This one satisfies the needs.

My perfect dive watch is the omega, Seamaster, professional. I think it has an amazing case design, as well as the best bracelet in the business.. the 41.5 mm case size fits my wrist perfectly at 7 1/2 inches.. amazing movement and finishing. It can be had in any color for less than $4500. If you shop around a bit… It’s one of the few watches that I would consider a great value for that kind of money and quite frankly I think it’s head and shoulders above the Rolex mariner. Four less than half of the retail price.

Citizen NY0040. Affordable, ubiquitous movement, not huge, nice bezel, nice dial, nice case, ISO certified, nice lume, nice military diving history, tool watch cred… I could afford one to beat and one to save. I could have a collection of the NY0040/80 variants and a couple cool G-shocks and I’d be more than good. I sometimes think I’d like a SKX-013 or Turtle, but they’re way overpriced now. My journey has just ended. Having started with two Armani quartzwatches 15 years ago (still have them, still running absolutely reliably and exactly), now more than 50 watches later including Breitling, Panerai, Tissots, Cartier, Seikos, I got so bored of all the snobbish talking, fed up with dive watches in particular, I returned to what it is all about for me: beauty. And quality of course. Just bought my 3rd Armani (AR0168) which is just me. I'm selling most of my collection now and only keep 5 watches. No interest in spending the earned money on another watch. I'll see your BB58 and I'll raise you a Seiko SJE093. Quite frankly I am of the opinion that a toolwatch should not be expensive. Because it's a tool. So I've got a collection of some Superman, a Serica 5303 and a Seiko SPB317, and all of those are nice small skin divers, but honestly.... Seiko's heritage is unbeatable. And they are sympathetic. So the one watch I would trade my SPB317 for is the limited SJE093, even if it's too much for a tool watch. They have beautiful handsets, they are nicely proportioned and they are built like a tank. For me, those are the best dive watches. So I appreciate your BB58 for what it is, but Tudor is Swiss, which continues to be its Achilles heel in my book: I simply prefer to sponsor Japan. I like the culture, the designs and the attitude.

I know that's an odd watch from left field but I stumbled on it at a watch show here in Chicago last week. I can't stop looking at it throughout the day. The color is fascinating. It's one color in regular light and a more colorful watch in the sun.

Congrats!!! It is an awesome watch. Don´t care for comments that this is not a perfect dive watch. It is. I wish to get one. But I'm a chronograph collector and spending so much money in a dive watch is not in my short-term planning. However, we are changing creatures in a dynamic world.

Marine Master 200 for me. Its so wearable and not that expensive I have to worry about it. A BB is extremely tempting though.

SEIKO Prospex turtle 4R36 Model: SRPD46J I purchasaed New 12 months ago and lover it Black face gold little bits, averages +1.7 seconds a day, I wear it on a Black Nato, I paid $399 Australian dollars. I wear it in the ocean daily........... Renewed my faith in SEIKO quality products which began with an 18th Bday present in 1978 7548-7000 SEIKO diver quartz which still runs like a train.

I have a perfect two watch collection. Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight and a Grand Seiko SBGA 283. Tudor is a fine brand. The "poor man's" Rolex is just silly. Poor people aren't spending $3500 for a watch. That said, today's wrist check is the Seiko SPB185 or "Steelmaster" or "MM reduced." Really pulls my wrist together.

Spot on all your points here. This kicked every goal over the last 3 years. The 54 isn't better, just smaller, and Pelagos 39 feels and sounds like it's made of plastic.

GS Evolution 9 Spring Drive SLGA015. Only problem it’s big and costs £10,600 and I do like vintage smaller watches. Love your Tudor and I might have to get it 🙈

Tudor BB Good - No date, red triangle, thin bezel, no guards, bracelet, better than almost all Rolexes Meh - hour hand like a warclub, overlong triangle at 12. Blue looks best. I prefer my Zenith Defy Classic with a non adjustable clasp and cutaway hands with limited lume for my very rare 2metre snorkel dives in the sun despite its date and internal cyclops.

I adore my Sinn U50. Technology beats heritage in this particular case. And I'm 🇩🇪 But, the Tudors are definitely awesome. My secret little love affair is with the Tissot Seastar 1000 from the early 20s, tho. Totally different price range but just so gorgeous.

When I saw the thumbnail I went straight into panic mode - no more Mad Watch Collector videos?!!! It took three minutes of breathing into a paper bag before I was sufficiently recovered to watch the video. The BB58 is gorgeous and I have to agree ... the perfect diver.

I found the perfect dive watch for me & my skinny wrist & budget: the Tissot seastar 40mm quartz. There's not many grab & go quartz dive watches that fit my skinny wrist but that one fits perfect, looks classy looks great in blue 👍

I totally get you.....they are super beautiful watches and with your wrist size they must be perfect for you.....I also had both the black and blue BB58.....and then I bought the very first generation BB, burgundy with smily face.....and that size was just better for me (7 inch wrist)....so I sold my 2 BB58s.

I'm good with the Doxa 300T. Why? Well you don't have to baby it. You can bash the hell out of it and it just looks better. It's not perfect but I love it. I'll keep it cos like all my more expensive watches I saved up two years for it.

I made my own, but not from a company, i baught a 70s Rotary with a 2824 -0 from 72 with gold date wheel and baught a 36mm dive case with sapphire crystal, bracelet J and O, a matt black dial and a lovely set of lumed dauphine hands, serviced the moment (myself, training watchmaker) and put together, after regulation it's under +-1 s/d on wrist constantly, my wrist is 7.5" but it's not too small i have alot of vintage watches i often wear 34 - 40mm watches, that's my perfect watch i do have alot and i find myself choosing it more, it just feels right on the wrist.
