I agree 100%. The channel has lost the charm of its formality, even if it was just a veneer. The Lange Triple Split video was, for me, this channel at its zenith (no pun intended).

I personally prefer the look and size of the 54, the silver bezel with no red triangle makes it really versatile

This is how I see it. 54 is Refined/Quiet/Sleek/Sharp/and Cold 58 is Rugged/Louder/Colorful/and Warmer.

To each their own. It's great that Tudor has 3 size options. I personally have an 8" wrist and love small watches. Today I wore a 34mm vintage Omega. Small still works.

Bond never had a red triangle 5508 Rolex ever , period . Sorry he had a 6538 big crown yes but the red triangle is an internet myth. Check the goldfinger stills . No 15 minutes increment hash marks and definitely no red triangle .

I’m kinda waiting for them to upgrade the clasp- figured they would do it soon as the ranger and 54 have it. Doesn’t make sense to not update the 58 to me

Trying to pick between rubber strap and the stainless steel on the bb54, what is your reason for choice of rubber strap?

@@ajmufc2415 I have other watches with a steel or gold strap, so just wanted something different! I'm also on the waiting list with my AD for a Rolex Daytona on Oysterflex so thought I would use this for now to get me in the mood :D

Do the bb58 and bb54 have the same links?

I would have to disagree the black Bay 58 maybe a dive watch but by no means is it a beater!! And this is coming from someone who's beater watch is a pelagos lhd

That's what I'm saying it's not a beater. I knock out the ceramic bezel inserts and crack the sapphire inserts. I'm not spending a lot of money on a bezel. Never wreck watches with regular bezels. I do think the current black bays looks better than a sub or any omega diver though, especially if they have a glossy ceramic bezel.

I'm the same. I want a Grand Seiko without the grand price or the Seiko name.

I love the cool coin edge bezel that matches up with the coin edge crown.

Agree, the Pelagos 39mm is better and the only watch I'd consider in the current line up

I went with the 58 in the end but that Pelagos bezel reallly had me sweating at the AD...even when they were sizing up my 58 I was like...do I go back and try on the Pelagos again!

For my part, I prefer the BB54 without the red triangle that I hate. I'm starting to save to treat myself one day, I hope, to a new version of the BB54 which will be released perhaps in the year 2024. The ultimate version for me would be the BB54 with a 38 mm case, real rivets, a golden crown (like the BB58) and a transparent case back to contemplate a better decorated movement. If a new version of the BB54 does not come out before I manage to put all my savings aside, I will then offer myself the current PELAGOS 39 or its new version which will be released soon perhaps.

@@luqman_4053 if that's your take, fair. But the BB54 is sterile imo, and doesn't offer anything beyond being a 1:1 reissue of a 7922. A red triangle 🔺️ is such a subtle pop to liven it up. First time I hear hate towards it. It's a throwback in its own right. BB54 still has the gilt dial and handset, but doesn't follow in the bezel; making it seem forced and even more out of place imo. The MT movements are nothing to look at, even if they throw on some perlage. A diver with a display caseback is counter intuitive. A Pelagos 39 would be even more plain, as it is far 'tool-ier'. BB58 can be worn any day, with anything, and dressed up if desired. Nothing more versatile exists.

I have copied and pasted to other forums and RU-vid videos because the topic itself is very intriguing and since I have experience with the 6538 and the 58 as well as the 54 I wanted to share. This was my best write up so you may see it other places as well. A lot of videos want to call the 54 vintage but I needed to fix that misconception because it does not. It feels like nothing of the sort as far as vintage. Even the original model was larger lug to lug and larger in height. I wanted to make sure folks knew why the BB58 is closer to the real deal but also how great the 54 is but to be very honest when I say it wears uniquely and it like the BB58 are to me the best watches out there. The choice is dependent on how you feel but I don’t want you think it feels more vintage than the BB58 because it doesn’t. So instead of having to rewrite the comment over and over I simply copy n paste. Hope you enjoy Tudor because to me that will be the closest thing you will get to what Rolex used to be in my opinion.

@@Kalmar917I don’t see how the 58 is the same case or shape as the 6538. The 58 seems much thicker yet the 54 has the same thin profile as the 6538, the same bezel ( no 15 min increment hash marks ) same lug shapes and same bezel edge knurling . The only thing I can see in common a 58 has with a 6538 is the larger crown and even then it’s not the same crown it’s just larger . The red triangle is from a 5508 sub so not even applicable

@@bruh_oly1370 I have a 6538. It is literally the closest thing. Here you go: This is my opinion for this very cool subject: I have a family heirloom Rolex 6538 but will never wear it in the wild. As a matter of fact it is in a safe in a vault. I bought 5-digit sub back in 05-06 and still love it to this day and will always be in my rotation, but I also wanted to wear something vintage but there was nothing out there until the first Blackbay back in I guess 2010s some time. In hopes it would feel like the 6538, I found it was not and did not wear like it. 2018 comes around and the BB58 arrives. The BB58 wears almost exactly the same as a Rolex 6538. The BB58 is 39mm x 11.9mm in height x 47mm lug to lug and a lug width of 20mm. The crown is 6-6.5mm. The Rolex 6538 is 38mm x 15.2mm in height due to the doomed x 47mm lug to lug and a lug width of 20mm. The crown is I believe 8mm last I checked. I tried the BB54 and it was an awesome watch! Love the fit and feel but also did not fit like a 6538 at all which makes sense because it is a nod to an older vintage but even then it is it’s own thing as the vintage it is based off from 1954 it is based off is larger lug to lug and thickness. So the BB54 does not wear like a vintage but it wears very different in a good way. For me I wanted something like the 6538 and the BB58 is my preferred. Specifically, the Gilt dial. Lastly the lume on the BB54 is not as good as the BB58. I think depending on which vintage you like most would determine which you prefer. Another option is simply owning both the BB58 and 54. For me I am waiting for 2028. I have a feeling they will make some refinements with the original BB58. They will make changes with the gnarling on the bezel and crown and may shrink it down to 38mm. Now that is a watch worth waiting for in my opinion. But no one would be wrong to own that nice BB54.

I agree and for that reason I bought the BB GMT and the BB Black (41 mm.) and I'm really happy with both watches.

I know they are hitting ADs. I've been to two this month who have had them in. Just new and can't keep up with demand yet. Last year, I think it was about 6 months before the BB GMT was widely available.

58 juvenile? The 54 I’d say is more so if anything, as it’s sized for kids. Each to their own 👍🏻

@@KeepingWatchUK Yeah, juvenile is not the first word to come to mind when describing or comparing the BB58. It’s not even in the top 1000 words which might come to mind….🤔

He is just repeating the words of the reviewer. He said he found it juvenile. I find the 54 really boring looking. It’s the 58 minus all the charm of the gilted bezel with the red triangle and matching coin edge bezel and crown. But that’s just my opinion and it’s great there is something for everyone.

The 54 is Fun sized.
