I live in Hellevoetsluis, which is located right under the port. Especially in winter when view isn't obstructed by trees, you can see almost the whole port in front of you. As a kid I knew I wanted to work either sailing myself or a job at a terminal. I did the latter. One of the best jobs was being an agent for the shipping company, going aboard, visit the captain and work out all sort of things from hunkering the vessel, linesmen, crew changes, garbage disposal, spare parts flying in, cash to master (like picking up 75,000 dollar at a bank for him to spend on cash stuff and for crew), loading papers, bill of rights, pilots and so on. Downside were care in the middle of the night after three years doing it.
Kennis en vakmanschap. A tiny country with an enorm influence. 2nd biggest agriculture exporter. The coumtry that tame the sea and make the fishes pay for it😊
@03:20 rechts
Thank you for your message, Chris. What do you mean, exactly? The Suurhoff Bridge ('Suurhoffbrug') was installed alongside an existing bridge that carries traffic to and from the Maasvlakte port area. The extra load capacity offered by the new bridge extends the lifespan of the current connection. Also, it will allow engineers to renovate the existing bridge, without having to close down the important road connection to the Port of Rotterdam.
