I start flight school next spring, I've been working out for 2 years now and have just started running. Good luck to anyone on their flight or fitness journey!
In the middle of my CFI rating in Canada right now, excited to start making money as a pilot. For all the student pilots out there, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
@@Wizzzkhalifa Flight Instructor, CFI the states use as certified flight instructor so anyone with the instructor rating. But in Canada CFI is Chief Flight instructor aka “the boss”.
This is very nice! This is very rare to see a pilot explaining in detail how they became a pilot. I hope to become a pilot in the future :D Always fly safe! 🙏
Hey Joey. I served in the Army for 10 years now. I'm exiting in a few months. I've been watching all your videos since last year. I really appreciate all your work to clarify everything in the aviation industry. I start my training at a 141 school soon. Your videos have really helped me create a plan during this stressful transition. Thanks for all the tips and positivity.
@@rockingjuniorhow much is it going to cost you if you don’t mind me asking I’m about to get out of the army and want to use my benefits to go to flight school
@@Hikingnhell about $15k out of pocket for PPL. The rest will be covered by GI Bill. VR&E (I'm claiming 20% disability) will cover the rest of the hours that get capped off in the calendar year.
I’ll probably leave this to the flight instructors. Time has passed since I was one and current flight instructors should be given you all this information better than I would
Just started the CAP program at Melbourne Flight Training last week! Super stoked, you’ve been a great role model and thank you for taking the time to make these videos! I had explored LOTS of flight schools, including Skyborne, but MFT was by far the most professional and really has their stuff together! Moved down here from Syracuse, NY, and your videos have given me added peace of mind about my decision to go with MFT. Congrats on your accomplishments in your aviation (and FITNESS) journey! Great stuff.
I resume my training toward my IFR in October at Melbourne in their CAP program. Thank you for everything you put out here for us! A true inspiration for myself in fitness and flying 💪🏻 I wouldn’t have found MFT if it wasn’t for you.
Joey you have inspired me so much these pass few months I’ve been watching your channel. I’ve been beginning to run in the morning and workout even more!! I’m wanting to become a pilot as well and how I found your channel was trying to find pilot videos 😅 but thank you so much!!!
Im currently 18 from the uk. I have always wanted to become a commercial pilot since a young kid. Im hoping to get my PPL very soon and honestly your videos are very motivating! Thank you.
That's the dream! The main concern is balancing Flight School and College. I have my PPL, working on IFR, but college is ramping up and it's a challenge to stay on top of things in both worlds. I've also been lifting consistently for 6 years and I'm not willing to sacrifice time in the gym.
Thank you very much for this. I’m about to finish my training in a 141 flight school and wasn’t sure of what to do after to get the 1500 hrs but this is inspiring
Loved this insight, Joey. As someone who is currently going through my private pilot license here in Utah, and planning on going all the way through to the airlines, it's awesome to hear about how you did everything to get to there. Love your content! 👏🏾
i started flying sense i was 9 years old and i have 13 hours logged in the flight book i hope to be an airline pilot for Qatar you are my most favorite airline pilot right now and thank you for sharing this this will help me what to expect when i get become an airline pilot.
Great video and well timed as im starting my journey next year. Im 2 years older than you and was worried im too old to start now but i just dont care. Hate current job and feel motivated. Appteciate this kind of video dude thanks.
Me: I have absolutely no intention of ever becoming an airline pilot. Also me: Let's watch a video about how to become an airline pilot... Lol, in all seriousness-it was actually pretty interesting, and all these videos make me appreciate airline pilots even more! G1M Joey!
Please continue to give advice for people who can afford to become Pilots! Even though I could not afford to become Pilot, flying with my former airline United gave me a career close enough to feel comfortable in seeing the world. 😂 Hahaha! Rollerboard Flight Luggage and all!! ☺
Great video, I’m moving to Gainesville this week. Hopefully there’s schools around and plan on starting soon. Plus I started a fitness journey and stopped going to pick back up and start fresh next week. 🤙🏼
Hi Joey, taking my private in a few weeks and so relieved and excited. If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Super big into my fitness as well and can’t wait to see where my flying will take me. Great channel sir and thank you for the continued inspiration!
Great video, I appreciate hearing about your flying experiences!! I'm a student pilot working on my PPL, and I'm about to start up flight training in Tampa. I also love running/fitness, and I wish you the best in your sub 3 marathon training!!
I really appreciate you going through this. It helps to see the whole breakdown of how to get to the big leagues. I am working on getting my PPL right now. Just curious if you have any words of advice or motivation because it seems like a lot of hard work and can be discouraging at some points!
Impressive story but what really impressed me is you being able to deal with Melbourne Tower’s shenanigans for as long as you did 😂. Great video input for those trying to get in the industry.
Thanks for this I’ve really been stressing trying to figure out how to start and prepare for training but this might be the video that changes it all. Thank you can’t wait for more content.
i start flight school on august 16th i love the channel!!! i love the content and you inspired me to start filming. once i start im gonna do some ditl of like a student pilot and document the whole process!!!
I just recently got my powerplant mechanics license, I’m working on the airframe, but I do eventually want to get into flying to get my private pilots license
@@alejandropayne2518 some schools hire back pilots they trained to work as instructors but you don’t necessarily have to do that in order to get hired as an instructor
Richard, may I ask what flight school you went to? I was told I could finish in 12 months, but seeing as how it’s taking me 5 months just to get my PPL, I don’t think that’s happening.
Hey Joey, I am 14 years old and have been flying across the country with my parents for 13 and 1/2 years. I have been in love with aviation for as long as I can remember. I would love to fly the a320 one day. I actually live in West Melbourne and have heard amazing stories about Melbourne flight training so it’s comforting hearing another great experience. Like I said I’m only 14 but what would you recommend me doing to get started in my aviation journey
I’ve taken two flights with my friend who is a CFI (3 if you include one in a Cessna 310 that I didn’t fly) and he is going to work for SkyWest in the next couple weeks. I love it! But flying is intimidating at first because you really don’t know what’s going on haha. Did you have any of that uncertainty? I don’t want it to scare me away and want to continue on!
Dude great video. Love your content and I’ve been considering going to flight school. What’s your thoughts on the future outlook for pilots as so many older generations retire?
Joey your a king bro, what is your opinion on the career and life of an Air Traffic Controller? I know it’s a very stressful but rewarding job, I also know it is a rigorous process to even become one. Just curious
Hey, I’m 13 and I hope you can get to this comment to answer some of my questions. My first question is when and how early am i able to start. Another question I have is in order to become a pilot to start flying commercially do you have to go to colleges for anything after high school?
Great video Joey. Just a question, did you work a job during your training? And if you did, would you recommend working while training or just drop everything and knock it out as quick as you can?
I always did social media marketing part time but it didn’t take up too much of my time so it worked out. I would suggest dropping everything and doing it full time
Do you have any tips on getting prepped for the oral portion of the checkride? I was looking at the ACS and it seems like a lot of stuff. How did you manage your time to study the knowledge portion?
Hey Joey, been watching your videos for a while and my dream career is to become a pilot. I was just curious when you were going through flight school were you working on the side or was it something that required your full time commitment?
Working on my private license and taking my par exam this weekend! All while working a full time job. Is there any advice you can give on scholarships/loans to help afford training?
The school I recommend here does loans I believe. But yea if needed definitely take out the loan and you’ll pay it back fast once you’re in the airlines
Unless you’re going to be at minimums from private to commercial, part 141 isn’t worth it IMO. Extra cost for stage checks, and waiting for them is a progress killer. Plus I read the horror stories of some 141 programs holding people back over very silly things. Nickel and dime them for as much money as possible. I did 61 PPL, 141 IRA, 61 commercial. Time building for 61 is great experience to a CRM environment and you can explore. Plus you split cost, Cheapest hours you’re going to get. 55 hours of dual plus plane rental in 141 commercial killed the deal for me. Saved me about $9k going back and building hours for 61. I quit my career, moved my family to a different state and went all in on training. Still grinding everyday to keep moving forward! Best of luck to everyone out there!
This is great for people who are able to manage their own training. I have seen the bad side of 61 where students managing themselves fail to understand the requirements and end up repeating flights.
Hey Joey love this content, during your time going to your first cfi did you work at all while getting private or just getting your ratings? To speed things up thanks in advance for answering
Hey Joey, if you don’t mind me asking what was your personal experience with the finances of your journey? Did you take loans, or did you save up the money? Asking for curiosity and for myself. Any tips for someone who might be taking out loans?
I want to get into commercial flying but I'm just trying to find out which flight school to go to, I've been looking into ATP, is Melbourne really good and better?
Hey Joey, been following you for a while, I'm studying to become a dentist but man your videos have made me re-think some choices haha. Curious, you mentioned in past videos you went to college for buisness, why the switch to aviation? Do flight schools require and degrees or courses prior to flight school?
Great video Joey! Appreciate all the helpful tips! I'm saving up to go all in on accelerated training full time but I'm about 12 months out. I know it's a good idea to knock out all written tests beforehand and they're good for 2 yrs.. but since I'm about 12 months out, should I wait to take the tests until closer in? Or should I just get out of the way now and be done with them knowing there will be a gap in training? Just dont want to forget any info for checkrides that may slow me down when I'm actually ready to pull the trigger.
I just got my PPL in May and it costed a bit over $20K which personally idk if its normal but it was a lot. Im on a break from the school because of how much it costed which is unfortunate but I wish to become a commercial pilot like you
Start with researching the stuff you need to know for the ground school side. Utilize as many free online resources as possible, buy used books where possible (make sure they're current). It's quite difficult, and can take time to learn everything. Basically to make sure you're up for it and capable (lot of math, science-related concepts, mechanical knowledge). If you still want to, chip away at it. Many CFIs will allow you to pay as you go, so you don't need to drop $10k + at once. It will take longer, but it's start and it can't be taken away. Just start and then don't stop - you'll get there. Best of luck!
Hi, Joey I’ve been really enjoying your page! My question is how did you pay for flight school? I wish there was some federal student loan but unfortunately all I’m seeing is private loans and I’m worried about the interest payments. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Heyy man one question plz, so im planning to work in the IT field while studying towards a commercial airline license and wanted to know if it's possible to do so or should i just save up and focus on flight school (wouldn't be obtimal tho for me)
Hello Joey, I’m an airline pilot as well, how do you stay motivated and consistent with your workouts? I’ve been eating clean and exercising for the past 8 months but I struggle sometimes specially when away from home I find myself eating not so clean because sometimes is just almost impossible or not being consistent with my workouts just because schedules are not always great. Thanks and thanks for your content, very inspiring
I’m a senior in highschool thinking about getting into flight school. Do you have to be really good at math or writing to pass everything and eventually get to the end goal of becoming a pilot? Or is that something one shouldn’t be worrying about going into it? Also what’s the main reason 80% of people drop out of flight school besides Money and time?
Are you capable of setting up a test flight? I’m from a small town about to finish high school in california. I’ve really been stressed about how one would make money while starting out (before instructing)
