I remember two years ago, electricity was out in Kamala for, something like, 20 hours. No cell service for more than 10 hours. The bars opened with candle light and hand written bins.

this happened to me it was in a creek near my church it broke and the water almost reached my house(i live in kamala)

Cheers mate, I know all about floods. Where I live in Australia we had record breaking floods 2 years ago, the city is still rebuilding and recuperating from it, some places I fear will never come back the same way. Most of it is uninsurable now. I myself lost everything but a lot others were worse off than I. Anyway they will prevail I think. 🙂

A lot of this is due to development without flood control planning . Houston Texas has the same flooding problems and it’s over building without planning.

ROB, VERY SORRY, yet the rainy season/ monsoon season are irregular. In Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos it was devastating. In Central America the same situation. You must fight thru it. Just like myself and so many thousands of Soldiers did 👍🇺🇸👍

My house in northern Bangkok flooded in 2011, over a foot deep in the downstairs rooms, the government kept the sluice gates closed a little too long in an attempt to save central Bangkok, it didn't work but it meant large areas north of the city were inundated. The Thai attitude seems to be, ไม่เป็นไร - Mai Pen Rai "Oh well never mind", just clear up and get on with it. Still waiting for Government Compensation.

They do have them..Just not everywhere.

@@ThailandRob Car spaces and BBQ pit plus loungers underneath, for when it's fine. Everybody would spend most of their time down there, in the shade. Base of parking area sitting atop an excavated space with plastic sealed oil drums underneath so even the cars would float up, as necessary. There's a retro-fitting business just waiting for an entrepreneur going begging, there.

@@SebDangerfield-yu7cm True, nor in my experience, my house in Bangkok flooded back in 2011. Because the modern Thai houses are built of comparatively cheap and reasonably hardwearing concrete and have solid tiled floors its not the end of the world like it would be back in Blighty what with Carpets ruined, rotting wooden floor boards / chipboard.

Surely you've been here long enough to know this happens somewhere in Thailand every rainy season, and usually a couple somewheres and a couple times per rainy season.

Good video, and very happy you're ok. Now let me rant... L.A. TX, Phoenix... concrete/pavement jungles (no place for water to rest and soak in) = over developed.. Where is the water supposed to go?? donwhill, lowest point, and civil engineers never plan water run off in.. of course it run down highways, streets, road and pools, flood at the lowest point. Nature had been here billion years, silly man in the last 100 years 'thinks' he/she can do this or that... Squirrel!!!!
