The whole honoring the history of LCS was great to see. Especially, seeing how such recognition affected Dryus on his entry into the stadium and everyone starting to chant TSM.

The production was an awesome viewing experience, coming from someone who didn't even get to see it live because I was driving. But they killed it with the camera work, just holding a wide shot of the countdown into the whole flashback movie they played. It was super sick and it made me wonder why it took so long to show this. And a major concern that I have is that they upped production specifically for this entire year, because we host worlds. So IDEALLY, I hope we see this same level of care ideally, an even further improvement beyond what they already showed for next year. Because this really did feel like the best playoffs overall even if the games were not super high quality. Just the lead up into Chicago was super sick to watch. Because this would be super sad if they stuck on this and then just went back to mediocre production, cause even Houston was super sick. I got to watch from out of state and they put a lot of effort and respect to fans to be able to watch across the country. The setup was super exciting to be a part of as well. Main thing, super hope this is not the only year we see this level of production, because they killed it and it was paid off too. That venue was sold out it looked like, it was awesome to see and experience, even from home and I have high expectations from Riot for worlds this year after all the grand finals from all the regions.
For some context on the EG thing: papa smithy came into the summoning insight stream to clarify EG almost certainly were using the 2 subs to get additional staff in the room, not to save the few thousand bucks on hotels and flights. Which is still bad obviously, but the coaching staff thing at least makes more sense.

Unfortunately, being a professional competitor involves dealing with severe stress and public scrutiny. It sucks and we wanna be humans about it, but being a pro isn't for everyone. Look at what's going on in the nba with Ben simmons for another example.
I really don't understand why people can only have 1 or 2 subs, league have 5 rolls and if you don't have a sub for the person that can't play you will be in an insane disadvantage. If is because of cost make teams cover part or the total of the people that is over 2 or 3 subs so is on them if they want to take the extra cost of extra subs.
There probably a old reason for the rule but eg was running with thier subs jg and coach is giga troll specially for eg that have the most inside information about Danny
It feels like poor management from EG all around tbh, it is so unlikely this was out of nowhere, and having their experienced mvp jungler having two subs, the academy player and turtle Who was a jungler when player, and not having subs for their player Who are most Likely to underperfom, aka rookies, like danny and jojo it makes me look at EGs management at a bad light.
I think the sub-thing is even worse, because I'm willing to bet, that Dannys worsening mindstate/condition was known to EG for a while. If that was true not bringing an sub-ADC is even more of a joke and should have been punished by not allowing another sub and protect Danny so he doesn't need to play.
To add onto that, as far as I know one of their 2 listed subs was WildTurtle, one of the best adcs in LCS history. But they still got an emergency sub for another adc. Pretty unfair all around.
I think has more information comes to light, the question is not going to be whether or not Danny should've kept playing, but whether he should've been subbed sooner. If evidence comes out that EG knew where he was at mentally, but compelled him to play until they qualified for worlds before letting him leave, it's not only corrupt but cruel.
I mean... He gets paid a ton to perform in a professional league. You can say whatever you want, but dealing with this is part of his job. I will love to see you tell your boss, when you have a very important deadline coming up, sorry i gotta deal with my mental health. I'm not a fan of the "NA only pick Zilean = bad" argument. Yes, the pick has a higher chance of being punished, but why would you not pick it if it wins? If you are playing in the finals, you should be playing to win said finals, not playing to beat teams (which you do not even know at the time) at worlds.
I disagree with the pros casting. Bwipo was on the desk to cast a c9 game a few weeks back. And it was abysmal. It’s hard to listen past all of his ego. He talks down to people better than him, and he absolutely shits on people worse than him. Horribly biased casting.
zilean only works well in c9 because he can revive blaber and speed up berserker. it doesnt matter if a sylas dominates lane because they believe berserker will just carry late, but i think they know they can only do that in NA
The fact that these 3 are taking this angle on mental health is pretty gross IMO. In a day when NBA players are taking years off for mental health issues it's becoming more and more obvious that the pressures players face are stronger than they've ever been. These are literal kids playing in front of millions of people, cut them some slack and talk about the fact that fans and shows like this can often be incredibly harsh without needing to be. We need to understand that players are people first, not chess pieces that we can manipulate as we wish for entertainment value. I can understand Dom feeling like he wasn't taken care of back in the day, but using the league's stance on mental health 10 years ago as a precedent moving forward isn't going to do anyone any favours. We want the players to perform at the highest level, and to do this, we're going to need to make sure that the very best of them aren't pressured out of the realm before they even turn 18 years old.

If Danny is panicking with 200k viewers watching, there’s no way he should be able to play at worlds with 1-2m people watching. If it’s the negative criticism he’s getting (which I believe is fair as his champ pool was lacking) then that comes with the job , same as traditional sports. EG shouldn’t have been given the emergency sub and should have had to forfeit.

If a player continued playing while having an injured wrist, I would consider it impressive, but I wouldn’t fault them for deciding not to play. Same goes for Danny

Really shameful take by Monte. I agree that EG shouldn't have listed coaches as subs in order to get Riot to pay for it, as well as the idea that pressure is a natural part of competition. But to insinuate that there was a chance that EG abused it to replace Danny for Kaori because somehow an academy adc that can play more lane dominant champs, versus having the centerpiece ADC of your championship team is an advantage in some way is ridiculous. As well as bringing in Doublelift playing through when his mom died, as if that is some standard that we should be holding people to, to say well if your situation isn't as bad as doublelifts, you shouldn't get an emergency substitution. I usually love the content you guys all put out, but it was obvious to everyone even from the outside that Danny was struggling, I can only imagine how he was feeling. I wonder how this conversation would be between you guys if Danny had not been given the emergency substitution and was pressured to keep playing, and as a result had committed self harm or worse? Would you have then held up the LCS as being heartless and clearly not caring about their players? I understand the angle you guys are trying to bring in, and Montes particular bone with Riot, but let's not pretend like the people making these decisions are clueless and can't balance competitive integrity with player health. Just started listening and I agree with Monte's point 100%. When I heard Danny was being taken out of the main roster for mental health issues the first thing I thought about was DL. Me and my friend group at the time couldn't believe he was still playing after going through such a tragedy and it turned all of us into fans rooting for DL. I don't know what problems Danny is facing but as a spectator it's incredibly disappointing to bow out when it matters most. It's cold and harsh but it's the truth.
I don't understand LoL METAs. Like, why right now are utility beefy junglers the META, why are enchanter supports the META? Why is Vi good but Viego isn't? Why is Sivir amazing but Tristana isn't? What happens that will make it change early next year? I understand that patches make certain champions ideal just due to buffs, but I don't get why a certain playstyle dominates the game at any given time. Anyone that has any insight please give me some.
The meta is just "the best way to reach victory", so the short and boring answer to why A and not B is because A works most of the time. The teams try A, the teams try B. They win with A and lose with B. Bam, A is the meta.
But man always has to supress their emotion and being professional in workplace, it just our need to do that to survive and not devalue ourself in modern times we can seek help to specialist, but you still need to control it better yourself DL was perfect example of that in league, Caedrel and etc, that is why in job requirements always have "Work underpressure" or "Working as team" smite into it
Is Monte the worst part of every show he is in? I don’t know, but it doesn’t even sound like he likes watching or being part of league anymore. He doesn’t ever have anything good to say and has even said himself he isn’t watching all of the games he is commenting on. Definitely enjoyed his presence on these shows more in the past. I would understand why, but he just seems super jaded at this point.

REgarding the LCS video shown at the start, I have a very love/hate relationship with it. On one side, I loved it because it reminded me of the haydays of LCS, when I watched it because I liked the players; on another, I hated it because they barely showed any current players! How are we supposed to keep watching LCS, and help prevent its death when you showed us what we liked, and dont even try to show us what we're currently watching?!

the Production of LCS has been better this split, but make no mistake, game quality reached a historic low. Most LCS teams are absolutely terrible, even C9 isnt good. You cant get away with playing Zilean in any other Region.
There are rules for subs (which are archaic and deserve to die), but all three of these guys are acting like an emergency substitution isn’t included in the LCS rules. It is. So all this conversation as if the LCS broke the rules just for Danny isn’t just dumbass speculation, it’s also completely inaccurate. Also, I don’t really think it’s a good look for Monte to talk about what types of mental health situations players should be trying to play through, especially given what happened with Renegades. Just because he doesn’t give a shit about what happens with players and only values their production doesn’t mean that’s true for the rest of the community.
IWD better predict all 4 LPL teams getting out of groups with 6-0 records and all of them winning quarters 3-0 to create 4 LPL teams in semis when they start talking about worlds soon. If he predicts anything less than this I’m going to be very disappointed

@@OMAR-vk9pi Fudge did not win lane game 3, he won lane game 1, lost it game 2, and game 3 it was very even (Fudge had a tiny CS lead but Ssumday was more effective elsewhere). Given how big the rest of the team gap was, I think it's fair to say Ssumday at least played even with Fudge, it not slightly outplayed him.

no one gives 2 fucks about 100t or eg. both suck and were overrated. Talk about C9 and the fact they skull-fucked them both, and 100T got it twice. C9 leveled up and just played better. They did it with a role swap support and speed ran the mediocre hoodie org out of the finals. There's more to it than just "haha c9 drafted a baby comp". They'll take a game from SKT and they'll def beat EDG. There's a reason why SKT's adc was leery of berserker and he ended up in NA.

I'm actually excited of when Gumayushi and Berserker fights. Like. Berserker is going to be Guma's substitute after Berserker finishes his term in the junior League. Then LS took him to C9(due to his friendship with Joe Marsh)when he transferred to NA. And yeah. The turbostomp is undeniable. It's hard to just say "oh c9 got the better draft" like will you be able to pick those positive drafts 3 times in a row? They got LB banned after first game, took away Zeri twice, banned Fudge's champ pool the entire series, etc. They literally got outsmarted in draft phase and got outmatched in game. No excuses. Oh in 6/7 games. The last 3 was worst than the first 3.
